2 Peter 1

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 Simon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith as precious as ourown, given through the saving justice of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.	1 שמעון פטרוס עבד ישוע המשיח ושליחו אל אשר קבלו אמונה יקרה כשלנו בצדקת אלהינו ומושיענו ישוע המשיח
2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of our Lord.	2 חסד ושלום יהיו לכם למכביר בדעת האלהים וישוע אדנינו
3 By his divine power, he has lavished on us all the things we need for life and for true devotion, throughthe knowledge of him who has called us by his own glory and goodness.	3 באשר גבורתו האלהית נתנה לנו את כל אשר לחיים ולחסידות על ידי דעת הקורא אתנו בכבודו וחילו
4 Through these, the greatest and priceless promises have been lavished on us, that through them youshould share the divine nature and escape the corruption rife in the world through disordered passion.	4 אשר בהם נתן לנו הבטחות גדלות מאד ויקרות למען תקחו על ידן חלק בטבע אלהים בהמלטכם מכליון התאוה אשר בעולם
5 With this in view, do your utmost to support your faith with goodness, goodness with understanding,	5 בעבור זאת השתדלו להעמיד באמונתכם את הצדקה ובצדקה את הדעת
6 understanding with self-control, self-control with perseverance, perseverance with devotion,	6 ובדעת את הפרישות ובפרישות את הסבלנות ובסבלנות את החסידות
7 devotion with kindness to the brothers, and kindness to the brothers with love.	7 ובחסידות את האחוה ובאחוה את האהבה
8 The possession and growth of these qualities wil prevent your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ frombeing ineffectual or unproductive.	8 כי אם אלה תמצאנה ותרבינה בכם לא תתנה אתכם להיות בטלים ובלא עשות פרי לדעת אדנינו ישוע המשיח

10 Instead of this, brothers, never allow your choice or cal ing to waver; then there wil be no danger ofyour stumbling,	10 לכן אחי הוסיפו והשתדלו לחזק את קריאתכם ובחירתכם כי בעשותכם זאת כשול לא תכשלו
11 for in this way you wil be given the generous gift of entry to the eternal kingdom of our Lord andSaviour Jesus Christ.	11 כי כן יפתח לפניכם לרוחה המבוא אל מלכות עולם אשר לאדנינו ומושיענו ישוע המשיח
12 That is why I wil always go on recal ing the same truths to you, even though you already know themand are firmly fixed in these truths.	12 על כן לא אחדל להזכירכם על אלה בכל עת גם כי ידעתם והתכוננתם באמת אשר היא לפנינו
13 I am sure it is my duty, as long as I am in this tent, to keep stirring you up with reminders,	13 ואחשב כי נכון להזכיר ולהעיר אתכם כל ימי היותי במשכן הזה
14 since I know the time for me to lay aside this tent is coming soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clearto me.	14 באשר ידעתי כי מהר יעתק משכני כאשר גם גלה לי אדנינו ישוע המשיח
15 And I shal take great care that after my own departure you will stil have a means to recal thesethings to mind.	15 ואשתדל שיהיה לכם תמיד גם אחרי פטירתי זכרון הדברים האלה
16 When we told you about the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not slavishlyrepeating cleverly invented myths; no, we had seen his majesty with our own eyes.	16 כי הודענו אתכם גבורת אדנינו ישוע המשיח ובאו לא בלכתנו אחרי הגדות מחכמות כי אם ראות היו עינינו את גדלתו
17 He was honoured and glorified by God the Father, when a voice came to him from the transcendentGlory, This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour.	17 כי לקח מאת אלהים האב יקר וכבוד בבא אליו קול מתוך הדרת כבודו לאמר זה בני ידידי רצתה נפשי בו
18 We ourselves heard this voice from heaven, when we were with him on the holy mountain.	18 ואת הקול הזה שמענו באזנינו יצא משמים בהיותנו עמו בהר הקדש
19 So we have confirmation of the words of the prophets; and you wil be right to pay attention to it as to a lamp for lighting a way through the dark, until the dawn comes and the morning star rises in your minds.	19 ועתה דבר הנבואה יותר קים אתנו והטיבתם עשות אשר שתם לבכם אליו כמו אל נר מאיר במקום אפל עד כי יבקע אור היום וזרח כוכב הנגה בלבבכם
20 At the same time, we must recognise that the interpretation of scriptural prophecy is never a matter forthe individual.	20 וזאת תדעו ראשונה אשר כל נבואת המקרא איננה תלה בפתרון אדם מלבו
21 For no prophecy ever came from human initiative. When people spoke for God it was the Holy Spiritthat moved them.	21 כי מעולם לא יצאה נבואה ברצון האדם כי אם ברוח הקדש אשר נשאם דברו אנשי אלהים הקדושים
