1 Peter 5

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 I urge the elders among you, as a fellow-elder myself and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and asone who is to have a share in the glory that is to be revealed:	1 Seniores ergo, qui in vobis sunt, obsecro, consenior et testis Chri stipassionum, qui et eius, quae in futuro revelanda est, gloriae communicator:
2 give a shepherd's care to the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a dutybut gladly, as God wants; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it.	2 Pascite, qui est in vobis, gregem Dei, providentes non coacto sed spontaneesecundum Deum, neque turpis lucri gratia sed voluntarie,
3 Do not lord it over the group which is in your charge, but be an example for the flock.	3 neque ut dominantesin cleris sed formae facti gregis.
4 When the chief shepherd appears, you wil be given the unfading crown of glory.	4 Et cum apparuerit Princeps pastorum,percipietis immarcescibilem gloriae coro nam.
5 In the same way, younger people, be subject to the elders. Humility towards one another must be thegarment you all wear constantly, because God opposes the proud but accords his favour to the humble.	5 Similiter, adulescentes, subditiestote senioribus. Omnes autem invicem humilitatem induite, quia Deus superbis resistit, humilibus autem dat gratiam.
6 Bow down, then, before the power of God now, so that he may raise you up in due time;	6 Humiliamini igitur sub potenti manu Dei, ut vos exaltet in tempore,
7 unload al your burden on to him, since he is concerned about you.	7 omnemsollicitudinem vestram proicientes in eum, quoniam ipsi cura est de vobis.
8 Keep sober and alert, because your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking forsomeone to devour.	8 Sobrii estote, vigilate. Adversarius vester Diabolus tamquam leo rugiens circuitquaerens quem devoret.
9 Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that it is the same kind of suffering that thecommunity of your brothers throughout the world is undergoing.	9 Cui resistite fortes fide, scientes eadem passionum ei,quae in mundo est, vestrae fraternitati fieri.
10 You wil have to suffer only for a little while: the God of all grace who called you to eternal glory inChrist wil restore you, he wil confirm, strengthen and support you.	10 Deus autem omnis gratiae, qui vocavit vos in aeternam suam gloriam in ChristoIesu, modicum passos ipse perficiet, confirmabit, solidabit, fundabit.
11 His power lasts for ever and ever. Amen.	11 Ipsiimperium in saecula saeculorum. Amen.
12 I write these few words to you through Silvanus, who is a trustworthy brother, to encourage you andattest that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!	12 Per Silvanum vobis fidelem fratrem, ut arbitror, breviter scripsi, obsecranset contestans hanc esse veram gratiam Dei; in qua state.
13 Your sister in Babylon, who is with you among the chosen, sends you greetings; so does my son,Mark.	13 Salutat vos, quaeest in Babylone, coelecta et Marcus filius meus.
14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you al who are in Christ.	14 Salutate invicem in osculocaritatis. Pax vobis omnibus, qui estis in Christo.
