1 Peter 5

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 I urge the elders among you, as a fellow-elder myself and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and asone who is to have a share in the glory that is to be revealed:	1 את הזקנים אשר בקרבכם אזהיר אנכי עמיתם הזקן ועד ענויי המשיח וגם חבר לכבוד העתיד להגלות
2 give a shepherd's care to the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a dutybut gladly, as God wants; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it.	2 רעו את עדר האלהים אשר בידכם והשגיחו עליהם לא באנס כי אם בנדבה אף לא עקב בצע כי אם בנפש חפצה
3 Do not lord it over the group which is in your charge, but be an example for the flock.	3 גם לא כמתעמרים בנחלת יהוה כי אם בהיותכם מופת לצאן
4 When the chief shepherd appears, you wil be given the unfading crown of glory.	4 והיה בהגלות שר הרעים תשאו עטרת הכבוד אשר לא תבל
5 In the same way, younger people, be subject to the elders. Humility towards one another must be thegarment you all wear constantly, because God opposes the proud but accords his favour to the humble.	5 וכן גם אתם הנערים הכנעו לפני הזקנים וחגרו כלכם שפלות רוח בהכנע איש לרעהו כי אלהים ללצים יליץ ולענוים יתן חן
6 Bow down, then, before the power of God now, so that he may raise you up in due time;	6 השפילו נפשכם תחת יד אלהים החזקה למען ירומם אתכם בעתו
7 unload al your burden on to him, since he is concerned about you.	7 השליכו עליו כל יהבכם כי הוא ידאג לכם
8 Keep sober and alert, because your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking forsomeone to devour.	8 התעוררו שקדו כי מריבכם השטן משוטט כאריה שאג ומבקש את אשר יבלע
9 Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that it is the same kind of suffering that thecommunity of your brothers throughout the world is undergoing.	9 ועמדתם נגדו חזקים באמונה ודעו כי ענוים כאלה באו גם על אחיכם אשר בעולם
10 You wil have to suffer only for a little while: the God of all grace who called you to eternal glory inChrist wil restore you, he wil confirm, strengthen and support you.	10 ואלהי כל החסד אשר קראנו לכבודו הנצחי במשיח ישוע אחרי ענותכם מעט הוא ישלים ויחזק ויגבר וייסד אתכם
11 His power lasts for ever and ever. Amen.	11 לו הכבוד והעז לעולמי עולמים אמן
12 I write these few words to you through Silvanus, who is a trustworthy brother, to encourage you andattest that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!	12 ביד סלונוס האח הנאמן לכם כאשר אחשב כתבתי אליכם בדברים מעטים להזהיר אתכם ולהעיד כי חסד האלהים הזה אשר עמדתם בו אמת הוא
13 Your sister in Babylon, who is with you among the chosen, sends you greetings; so does my son,Mark.	13 חברתכם אשר בבבל הנבחרה אתכם ומרקוס בני שאלים לשלומכם
14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you al who are in Christ.	14 שאלו לשלום איש את רעהו בנשיקת אהבה שלום לכלכם אשר במשיח ישוע אמן
