1 I urge the elders among you, as a fellow-elder myself and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and asone who is to have a share in the glory that is to be revealed:	1 I sacerdoti adunque, che sono tra di voi, gli scongiuro, io consacerdote, e testimone de' patimenti di Cristo: e chiamato a parte di quella gloria, che sarà un giorno manifestata:
2 give a shepherd's care to the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a dutybut gladly, as God wants; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it.	2 Pascete il gregge di Dio, che da voi dipende, governandolo non forzatamente, ma di buona voglia secondo Dio: non per amore di vil guadagno, ma con animo volenteroso:
3 Do not lord it over the group which is in your charge, but be an example for the flock.	3 Né come per dominare sopra l'eredità (del Signore) ma fatti sinceramente esemplare del gregge:
4 When the chief shepherd appears, you wil be given the unfading crown of glory.	4 E quando apparirà il principe de' pastori, riceverete corona immarcessibile di gloria.
5 In the same way, younger people, be subject to the elders. Humility towards one another must be thegarment you all wear constantly, because God opposes the proud but accords his favour to the humble.	5 Parimente voi, o giovani, siate soggetti a' sacerdoti. E tutti rivestitevi di umiltà gli uni verso degli altri, perché Dio resiste ai superbi, e agli umili da la grazia.
6 Bow down, then, before the power of God now, so that he may raise you up in due time;	6 Umiliatevi adunque sotto la potente mano di Dio, affinchè vi esalti nel tempo della visita:
7 unload al your burden on to him, since he is concerned about you.	7 Ogni vostra sollecitudine gittando in lui, imperocché egli ha cura di voi.
8 Keep sober and alert, because your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking forsomeone to devour.	8 Siate temperanti, e vegliate: perché il diavolo vostro avversario come lione, che rugge, va in volta cercando chi divorare:
9 Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that it is the same kind of suffering that thecommunity of your brothers throughout the world is undergoing.	9 A cui resistete forti nella fede: sappiate, come le stesse cose patiscono i vostri fratelli, che sono pel mondo.
10 You wil have to suffer only for a little while: the God of all grace who called you to eternal glory inChrist wil restore you, he wil confirm, strengthen and support you.	10 Ma il Dio di ogni grazia, il quale ci ha chiamati alla eterna gloria sia in Cristo Gesù, con un po' di patire vi perfezionerà, vi conforterà, e assoderà.
11 His power lasts for ever and ever. Amen.	11 A lui la gloria, e l'impero pe' secoli de' secoli. Cosi sia.
12 I write these few words to you through Silvanus, who is a trustworthy brother, to encourage you andattest that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!	12 Per mezzo di Silvano fratello fedele vi ho scritto, parmi, brevemente: per esortarvi, e attestando, che la vera grazia di Dio è questa, nella quale state costanti.
13 Your sister in Babylon, who is with you among the chosen, sends you greetings; so does my son,Mark.	13 Vi saluta la Chiesa, che è in Babilonia, con voi eletta, e Marco mio figlio.
14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you al who are in Christ.	14 Salutatevi gli uni, gli altri col bacio santo. La grazia a tutti voi, che siete in Cristo Gesù. Cosi sia.
