1 The principal point of al that we have said is that we have a high priest of exactly this kind. 6 As it is, he has been given a ministry as far superior as is the covenant of which he is the mediator,which is founded on better promises.	6 Ő azonban most annyival kiválóbb szolgálatot nyert, amennyivel kiválóbb szövetségnek közvetítője, amely kiválóbb ígéreteken alapul.
7 If that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no room for a second one to replace it.	7 Mert ha az az első kifogástalan lett volna, bizonyára nem lett volna szükség másikra.
8 And in fact God does find fault with them; he says: Look, the days are coming, the Lord declares, whenI will make a new covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah,	8 Inti ugyanis őket, és mondja: »Íme, jönnek napok – mondja az Úr –, amikor új szövetségre lépek Izrael házával és Júda házával,
9 but not a covenant like the one I made with their ancestors, the day I took them by the hand to bringthem out of Egypt, which covenant of mine they broke, and I too abandoned them, the Lord declares.	9 nem aszerint a szövetség szerint, amelyet atyáikkal kötöttem azon a napon, amelyen megfogtam kezüket, hogy kivezessem őket Egyiptom földjéről. Mivel ők nem maradtak meg szövetségemben, én is megvetettem őket – mondja az Úr. –
10 No, this is the covenant I wil make with the House of Israel, when those days have come, the Lorddeclares: In their minds I shal plant my laws writing them on their hearts. Then I shall be their God, and theyshall be my people.	10 Ez az a szövetség, amelyet Izrael házával kötni fogok azok után a napok után – mondja az Úr: – Elméjükbe adom törvényeimet, s a szívükbe írom azokat; én Istenük leszek, ők pedig az én népem lesznek.
11 There wil be no further need for each to teach his neighbour, and each his brother, saying 'Learn toknow the Lord!' No, they will al know me, from the least to the greatest,	11 Akkor senki sem fogja majd tanítani a polgártársát, és senki sem mondja a testvérének: ‘Ismerd meg az Urat!’, mert mindnyájan ismerni fognak engem, a legkisebbtől a legnagyobbig;
12 since I shall forgive their guilt and never more call their sins to mind.	12 s én megbocsátom gonoszságaikat, és bűneikre többé már nem emlékezem« .
13 By speaking of a new covenant, he implies that the first one is old. And anything old and ageing isready to disappear.	13 Azzal, hogy »új«-ról beszélt, az előzőt elavulttá tette. Ami pedig elavul és megvénül, közel jár az enyészethez.
