Hebrews 8

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 The principal point of al that we have said is that we have a high priest of exactly this kind. He hastaken his seat at the right of the throne of divine Majesty in the heavens,	1 Le point capital de nos propos est que nous avons un pareil grand prêtre qui s'est assis à la droite dutrône de la Majesté dans les cieux,
2 and he is the minister of the sanctuary and of the true Tent which the Lord, and not any man, set up.	2 ministre du sanctuaire et de la Tente, la vraie, celle que le Seigneur, non un homme, a dressée.
3 Every high priest is constituted to offer gifts and sacrifices, and so this one too must have something tooffer.	3 Tout grand prêtre, en effet, est établi pour offrir des dons et des sacrifices; d'où la nécessité pour luiaussi d'avoir quelque chose à offrir.
4 In fact, if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at al , since there are others who make theofferings laid down by the Law,	4 A la vérité, si Jésus était sur terre, il ne serait pas même prêtre, puisqu'il y en a qui offrent les dons,conformément à la Loi;
5 though these maintain the service only of a model or a reflection of the heavenly realities; just asMoses, when he had the Tent to build, was warned by God who said: See that you work to the design that wasshown you on the mountain.	5 ceux-là assurent le service d'une copie et d'une ombre des réalités célestes, ainsi que Moïse, quandil eut à construire la Tente, en fut divinement averti: Vois, est-il dit en effet, tu feras tout d'après le modèle qui t'aété montré sur la montagne.
6 As it is, he has been given a ministry as far superior as is the covenant of which he is the mediator,which is founded on better promises.	6 Mais à présent, le Christ a obtenu un ministère d'autant plus élevé que meilleure est l'alliance dontil est le médiateur, et fondée sur de meilleures promesses.
7 If that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no room for a second one to replace it.	7 Car si cette première alliance avait été irréprochable, il n'y aurait pas eu lieu de lui en substituerune seconde.
8 And in fact God does find fault with them; he says: Look, the days are coming, the Lord declares, whenI will make a new covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah,	8 C'est en effet en les blâmant que Dieu déclare: Voici que des jours viennent, dit le Seigneur, et jeconclurai avec la maison d'Israël et la maison de Juda une alliance nouvelle,
9 but not a covenant like the one I made with their ancestors, the day I took them by the hand to bringthem out of Egypt, which covenant of mine they broke, and I too abandoned them, the Lord declares.	9 non pas comme l'alliance que je fis avec leurs pères, au jour où je pris leur main pour les tirer dupays d'Egypte. Puisqu'eux-mêmes ne sont pas demeurés dans mon alliance, moi aussi je les ai négligés, dit leSeigneur.
10 No, this is the covenant I wil make with the House of Israel, when those days have come, the Lorddeclares: In their minds I shal plant my laws writing them on their hearts. Then I shall be their God, and theyshall be my people.	10 Voici l'alliance que je contracterai avec la maison d'Israël, après ces jours-là, dit le Seigneur: Jemettrai mes lois dans leur pensée, je les graverai dans leur coeur, et je serai leur Dieu et ils seront mon peuple.
11 There wil be no further need for each to teach his neighbour, and each his brother, saying 'Learn toknow the Lord!' No, they will al know me, from the least to the greatest,	11 Personne n'aura plus à instruire son concitoyen, ni personne son frère, en disant: "Connais leSeigneur", puisque tous me connaîtront, du petit jusqu'au grand.
12 since I shall forgive their guilt and never more call their sins to mind.	12 Car je pardonnerai leurs torts, et de leurs péchés je n'aurai plus souvenance.
13 By speaking of a new covenant, he implies that the first one is old. And anything old and ageing isready to disappear.	13 En disant: alliance nouvelle, il rend vieille la première. Or ce qui est vieilli et vétuste est près dedisparaître.
