1 The principal point of al that we have said is that we have a high priest of exactly this kind. He hastaken his seat at the right of the throne of divine Majesty in the heavens,1 Κεφαλαιον δε των λεγομενων ειναι τουτο, Τοιουτον εχομεν αρχιερεα, οστις εκαθησεν εν δεξια του θρονου της μεγαλωσυνης εν τοις ουρανοις,
2 and he is the minister of the sanctuary and of the true Tent which the Lord, and not any man, set up.2 λειτουργος των αγιων και της σκηνης της αληθινης, την οποιαν κατεσκευασεν ο Κυριος, και ουχι ανθρωπος.
3 Every high priest is constituted to offer gifts and sacrifices, and so this one too must have something tooffer.3 Διοτι πας αρχιερευς καθισταται δια να προσφερη δωρα και θυσιας? οθεν ειναι αναγκαιον να εχη και ουτος τι, το οποιον να προσφερη.
4 In fact, if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at al , since there are others who make theofferings laid down by the Law,4 Επειδη εαν ητο επι γης, ουδε ηθελεν εισθαι ιερευς, διοτι υπηρχον οι ιερεις οι προσφεροντες τα δωρα κατα τον νομον,
5 though these maintain the service only of a model or a reflection of the heavenly realities; just asMoses, when he had the Tent to build, was warned by God who said: See that you work to the design that wasshown you on the mountain.5 οιτινες λειτουργουσιν εις υποδειγμα και σκιαν των επουρανιων, καθως ελαληθη προς τον Μωυσην οτε εμελλε να κατασκευαση την σκηνην? διοτι Προσεχε, λεγει, να καμης παντα κατα τον τυπον τον δειχθεντα εις σε εν τω ορει.
6 As it is, he has been given a ministry as far superior as is the covenant of which he is the mediator,which is founded on better promises.6 Τωρα ομως ο Χριστος ελαβεν εξοχωτεραν λειτουργιαν, καθοσον ειναι και ανωτερας διαθηκης μεσιτης, ητις ενομοθετηθη με ανωτερας επαγγελιας.
7 If that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no room for a second one to replace it.7 Διοτι εαν η πρωτη εκεινη ητο αμεμπτος, δεν ηθελε ζητεισθαι τοπος δια την δευτεραν.
8 And in fact God does find fault with them; he says: Look, the days are coming, the Lord declares, whenI will make a new covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah,8 Διοτι μεμφομενος αυτους λεγει? Ιδου, ερχονται ημεραι, λεγει Κυριος, και θελω συντελεσει επι τον οικον του Ισραηλ και επι τον οικον του Ιουδα διαθηκην καινην,
9 but not a covenant like the one I made with their ancestors, the day I took them by the hand to bringthem out of Egypt, which covenant of mine they broke, and I too abandoned them, the Lord declares.9 ουχι κατα την διαθηκην, την οποιαν εκαμον προς τους πατερας αυτων, καθ' ην ημεραν επιασα αυτους απο της χειρος δια να εξαγαγω αυτους εκ γης Αιγυπτου? διοτι αυτοι δεν ενεμειναν εις την διαθηκην μου, και εγω ημελησα αυτους, λεγει Κυριος.
10 No, this is the covenant I wil make with the House of Israel, when those days have come, the Lorddeclares: In their minds I shal plant my laws writing them on their hearts. Then I shall be their God, and theyshall be my people.10 Διοτι αυτη ειναι η διαθηκη, την οποιαν θελω καμει προς τον οικον του Ισραηλ μετα τας ημερας εκεινας, λεγει Κυριος? Θελω δωσει τους νομους μου εις την διανοιαν αυτων, και θελω γραψει αυτους επι της καρδιας αυτων, και θελω εισθαι εις αυτους Θεος, και αυτοι θελουσιν εισθαι εις εμε λαος.
11 There wil be no further need for each to teach his neighbour, and each his brother, saying 'Learn toknow the Lord!' No, they will al know me, from the least to the greatest,11 Και δεν θελουσι διδασκει εκαστος τον πλησιον αυτου και εκαστος τον αδελφον αυτου, λεγων? Γνωρισον τον Κυριον? διοτι παντες θελουσι με γνωριζει απο μικρου εως μεγαλου αυτων?
12 since I shall forgive their guilt and never more call their sins to mind.12 διοτι θελω εισθαι ιλεως εις τας αδικιας αυτων, και τας αμαρτιας αυτων και τας ανομιας αυτων δεν θελω ενθυμεισθαι πλεον.
13 By speaking of a new covenant, he implies that the first one is old. And anything old and ageing isready to disappear.13 Λεγων δε καινην, εκαμε παλαιαν την πρωτην? το δε παλαιουμενον και γηρασκον ειναι πλησιον αφανισμου.
