1 The principal point of al that we have said is that we have a high priest of exactly this kind. He hastaken his seat at the right of the throne of divine Majesty in the heavens,	1 Pour résumer ce que nous avons dit, nous avons un grand prêtre qui siège à la droite du Dieu de Grandeur dans les cieux.
2 and he is the minister of the sanctuary and of the true Tent which the Lord, and not any man, set up.	2 Il fait le service du Sanctuaire et de la vraie Tente que le Seigneur lui-même a plantée et non les hommes.
3 Every high priest is constituted to offer gifts and sacrifices, and so this one too must have something tooffer.	3 Un grand prêtre est ordonné pour offrir des dons et des sacrifices; donc lui aussi doit avoir quelque chose à offrir.
4 In fact, if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at al , since there are others who make theofferings laid down by the Law,	4 Sur terre Jésus ne serait même pas prêtre, puisque d’autres, désignés par la Loi, offrent les sacrifices.
5 though these maintain the service only of a model or a reflection of the heavenly realities; just asMoses, when he had the Tent to build, was warned by God who said: See that you work to the design that wasshown you on the mountain.	5 En réalité, leur liturgie n’est que la figure et l’ombre des choses surnaturelles, comme il a été dit à Moïse quand il devait réaliser la Tente: Regarde et fais tout selon le modèle qui t’a été montré sur la montagne.
6 As it is, he has been given a ministry as far superior as is the covenant of which he is the mediator,which is founded on better promises.	6 Mais lui, son service liturgique est très supérieur, car il est le médiateur d’une alliance bien meilleure et qui nous promet des choses beaucoup plus élevées.
7 If that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no room for a second one to replace it.	7 S’il n’y avait rien à critiquer dans la première alliance, il n’y aurait pas de place pour une seconde.
8 And in fact God does find fault with them; he says: Look, the days are coming, the Lord declares, whenI will make a new covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah,	8 Mais voici que Dieu la critique: Les jours viennent, dit le Seigneur, où je ferai une nouvelle alliance avec le peuple d’Israël, avec la maison de Juda.
9 but not a covenant like the one I made with their ancestors, the day I took them by the hand to bringthem out of Egypt, which covenant of mine they broke, and I too abandoned them, the Lord declares.	9 Non pas comme l’alliance que j’ai donnée à leurs pères au jour où je les ai pris par la main pour les faire sortir d’Égypte. Car ils ne sont pas restés dans mon alliance et moi aussi je les ai délaissés - dit le Seigneur.
10 No, this is the covenant I wil make with the House of Israel, when those days have come, the Lorddeclares: In their minds I shal plant my laws writing them on their hearts. Then I shall be their God, and theyshall be my people.	10 Voici l’alliance que je ferai avec le peuple d’Israël en ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur. Je mettrai mes lois dans leur conscience et je les graverai sur leurs cœurs. Et alors je serai Dieu pour eux et ils seront pour moi un peuple.
11 There wil be no further need for each to teach his neighbour, and each his brother, saying 'Learn toknow the Lord!' No, they will al know me, from the least to the greatest,	11 Ils n’auront plus à s’instruire mutuellement; ils ne diront plus à leur frère ou à leur concitoyen: Connais le Seigneur! Car tous me connaîtront, du plus petit jusqu’au plus grand.
12 since I shall forgive their guilt and never more call their sins to mind.	12 Je pardonnerai leurs fautes et ne me souviendrai plus de leurs péchés.
13 By speaking of a new covenant, he implies that the first one is old. And anything old and ageing isready to disappear.	13 Il est dit: nouvelle alliance. C’est donc que la première a vieilli. Ce qui est vieux et hors d’âge est tout près d’être remplacé.
