NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 We ought, then, to turn our minds more attentively than before to what we have been taught, so that wedo not drift away.	1 Por eso, nosotros debemos prestar más atención a lo que hemos escuchado, no sea que marchemos a la deriva.
2 If a message that was spoken through angels proved to be so reliable that every infringement anddisobedience brought its own proper punishment,	2 Porque si la Palabra promulgada por medio de los ángeles tuvo plena vigencia, a tal punto que toda transgresión y desobediencia recibió su justa retribución,
3 then we shal certainly not go unpunished if we neglect such a great salvation. It was first announced bythe Lord himself, and is guaranteed to us by those who heard him;	3 ¿cómo nos libraremos nosotros, si rehusamos semejante salvación? Esta salvación, anunciada en primer lugar por el Señor, nos fue luego confirmada por todos aquellos que la habían oído anunciar,
4 God himself confirmed their witness with signs and marvels and miracles of al kinds, and bydistributing the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the various ways he wil s.	4 mientras Dios añadía su testimonio con signos y prodigios, con toda clase de milagros y con los dones del Espíritu Santo, distribuidos según su voluntad.
5 It was not under angels that he put the world to come, about which we are speaking.	5 Porque Dios no ha sometido a los ángeles el mundo venidero del que nosotros hablamos.
6 Someone witnesses to this somewhere with the words: What are human beings that you spare athought for them, a child of Adam that you care for him?	6 Acerca de esto, hay un testimonio que dice: "¿Qué es el hombre para que te acuerdes de él, el ser humano para que te ocupes de él?
7 For a short while you have made him less than the angels; you have crowned him with glory andhonour,	7 Por poco tiempo lo pusiste debajo de los ángeles y lo coronaste de gloria y esplendor.
8 put al things under his feet. For in putting al things under him he made no exceptions. At present, it istrue, we are not able to see that all things are under him,	8 Todo lo sometiste bajo sus pies". Si Dios le ha sometido todas las cosas, nada ha quedado fuera de su dominio. De hecho, todavía no vemos que todo le está sometido.
9 but we do see Jesus, who was for a short while made less than the angels, now crowned with glory andhonour because he submitted to death; so that by God's grace his experience of death should benefit allhumanity.	9 Pero a aquel que fue puesto por poco tiempo debajo de los ángeles, a Jesús, ahora lo vemos coronado de gloria y esplendor, a causa de la muerte que padeció. Así, por la gracia de Dios, él experimentó la muerte en favor de todos.
10 It was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should, in bringing many sons toglory, make perfect through suffering the leader of their salvation.	10 Convenía, en efecto, que aquel por quien y para quien existen todas las cosas, a fin de llevar a la gloria a un gran número de hijos, perfeccionara, por medio del sufrimiento, al jefe que los conduciría a la salvación.
11 For consecrator and consecrated are al of the same stock; that is why he is not ashamed to call thembrothers	11 Porque el que santifica y los que son santificados, tienen todos un mismo origen. Por eso, él no se avergüenza de llamarlos hermanos,
12 in the text: I shal proclaim your name to my brothers, praise you in full assembly; or in the text:	12 cuando dice: "Yo anunciaré tu Nombre a mis hermanos, te alabaré en medio de la asamblea".
13 I shal put my hope in him; fol owed by Look, I and the children whom God has given me.	13 Y también: "En él pondré mi confianza". Y además: "Aquí estamos yo y los hijos que Dios me ha dado".
14 Since al the children share the same human nature, he too shared equal y in it, so that by his deathhe could set aside him who held the power of death, namely the devil,	14 Y ya que los hijos tienen una misma sangre y una misma carne, él también debía participar de esa condición, para reducir a la impotencia, mediante su muerte, a aquel que tenía el dominio de la muerte, es decir, al demonio,
15 and set free al those who had been held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.	15 y liberar de este modo a todos los que vivían completamente esclavizados por el temor de la muerte.
16 For it was not the angels that he took to himself; he took to himself the line of Abraham.	16 Porque él no vino para socorrer a los ángeles, sino a los descendientes de Abraham.
17 It was essential that he should in this way be made completely like his brothers so that he couldbecome a compassionate and trustworthy high priest for their relationship to God, able to expiate the sins of thepeople.	17 En consecuencia, debió hacerse semejante en todo a sus hermanos, para llegar a ser un Sumo Sacerdote misericordioso y fiel en el servicio de Dios, a fin de expiar los pecados del pueblo.
18 For the suffering he himself passed through while being put to the test enables him to help otherswhen they are being put to the test.	18 Y por haber experimentado personalmente la prueba y el sufrimiento, él puede ayudar a aquellos que están sometidos a la prueba.
