1 Timothy 5

1 Never speak sharply to a man older than yourself, but appeal to him as you would to your own father;treat younger men as brothers,	1 Πρεσβυτερον μη επιπληξης, αλλα προτρεπε ως πατερα, τους νεωτερους ως αδελφους,
2 older women as mothers and young women as sisters with al propriety.	2 τας πρεσβυτερας ως μητερας, τας νεωτερας ως αδελφας μετα πασης καθαροτητος.
3 Be considerate to widows -- if they real y are widowed.	3 Τας χηρας τιμα τας αληθως χηρας.
4 If a widow has children or grandchildren, they are to learn first of al to do their duty to their own familiesand repay their debt to their parents, because this is what pleases God.	4 Εαν δε τις χηρα εχη τεκνα η εκγονα, ας μανθανωσι πρωτον να καθιστωσιν ευσεβη τον ιδιον αυτων οικον και να αποδιδωσιν αμοιβας εις τους προγονους αυτων. Διοτι τουτο ειναι καλον και ευπροσδεκτον ενωπιον του Θεου.
5 But a woman who is real y widowed and left on her own has set her hope on God and perseveres nightand day in petitions and prayer.	5 Η δε αληθως χηρα και μεμονωμενη ελπιζει επι τον Θεον και εμμενει εις τας δεησεις και τας προσευχας νυκτα και ημεραν?
6 The one who thinks only of pleasure is already dead while she is stil alive:	6 η δεδομενη ομως εις τας ηδονας ενω ζη ειναι νεκρα.
7 instruct them in this, too, so that their lives may be blameless.	7 Και ταυτα παραγγελλε, δια να ηναι αμεμπτοι.
8 Anyone who does not look after his own relations, especial y if they are living with him, has rejected thefaith and is worse than an unbeliever.	8 Αλλ' εαν τις δεν προνοη περι των εαυτου και μαλιστα των οικειων, ηρνηθη την πιστιν και ειναι απιστου χειροτερος.
9 Enrolment as a widow is permissible only for a woman at least sixty years old who has had only onehusband.	9 Ας καταγραφηται χηρα ουχι ολιγωτερον των εξηκοντα ετων, ητις υπηρξεν ενος ανδρος γυνη,
10 She must be a woman known for her good works -- whether she has brought up her children, beenhospitable to strangers and washed the feet of God's holy people, helped people in hardship or been active in allkinds of good work.	10 ητις μαρτυρειται δια τα καλα αυτης εργα, εαν ανεθρεψε τεκνα, εαν περιεθαλψε ξενους, εαν ποδας αγιων ενιψεν, εαν θλιβομενους εβοηθησεν, εαν επηκολουθησεν εις παν εργον αγαθον.
11 Do not accept young widows because if their natural desires distract them from Christ, they want tomarry again,	11 Τας δε νεωτερας χηρας αποβαλλε? διοτι αφου εντρυφησωσι κατα του Χριστου, θελουσι να υπανδρευωνται,
12 and then people condemn them for being unfaithful to their original promise.	12 εχουσαι την καταδικην, διοτι ηθετησαν την πρωτην πιστιν?
13 Besides, they learn how to be idle and go round from house to house; and then, not merely idle, theylearn to be gossips and meddlers in other people's affairs and to say what should remain unsaid.	13 και ενταυτω μανθανουσι να ηναι αργαι, περιερχομεναι τας οικιας, και ουχι μονον αργαι, αλλα και φλυαροι και περιεργοι, λαλουσαι τα μη πρεποντα.
14 I think it is best for young widows to marry again and have children and a household to look after, andnot give the enemy any chance to raise a scandal about them;	14 Θελω λοιπον αι νεωτεραι να υπανδρευωνται, να τεκνοποιωσι, να κυβερνωσιν οικον, να μη διδωσι μηδεμιαν αφορμην εις τον εναντιον να λοιδορη.
15 there are already some who have turned aside to fol ow Satan.	15 Διοτι εξετραπησαν ηδη τινες οπισω του Σατανα.
16 If a woman believer has widowed relatives, she should support them and not make the Church bear theexpense but enable it to support those who are real y widowed.	16 Εαν τις πιστος η πιστη εχη χηρας, ας προμηθευη εις αυτας τα αναγκαια, και ας μη επιβαρυνηται η εκκλησια, δια να δυναται να βοηθη τας αληθως χηρας.
17 Elders who do their work wel while they are in charge earn double reward, especial y those who workhard at preaching and teaching.	17 Οι καλως προισταμενοι πρεσβυτεροι ας αξιονωνται διπλης τιμης, μαλιστα οσοι κοπιαζουσιν εις λογον και διδασκαλιαν?
18 As scripture says: You must not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the corn; and again: The workerdeserves his wages.	18 διοτι λεγει η γραφη? Δεν θελεις εμφραξει το στομα βοος αλωνιζοντος? και, Αξιος ειναι ο εργατης του μισθου αυτου.
19 Never accept any accusation brought against an elder unless it is supported by two or three witnesses.	19 Κατηγοριαν εναντιον πρεσβυτερου μη παραδεχου, εκτος δια στοματος δυο η τριων μαρτυρων.
20 If anyone is at fault, reprimand him publicly, as a warning to the rest.	20 Τους αμαρτανοντας ελεγχε ενωπιον παντων, δια να εχωσι φοβον και οι λοιποι.
21 Before God, and before Jesus Christ and the angels he has chosen, I charge you to keep these rulesimpartial y and never to be influenced by favouritism.	21 Διαμαρτυρομαι ενωπιον του Θεου και του Κυριου Ιησου Χριστου και των εκλεκτων αγγελων, να φυλαξης ταυτα, χωρις προτιμησεως, μηδεν πραττων κατα χαριν.
22 Do not be too quick to lay hands on anyone, and never make yourself an accomplice in anybody else'ssin; keep yourself pure.	22 Μη επιθετε χειρας ταχεως εις μηδενα, μηδε γινου κοινωνος αλλοτριων αμαρτιων? φυλαττε σεαυτον καθαρον.
23 You should give up drinking only water and have a little wine for the sake of your digestion and thefrequent bouts of illness that you have.	23 Μη υδροποτει πλεον, αλλα μεταχειριζου ολιγον οινον δια τον στομαχον σου και τας συχνας σου ασθενειας.
24 The faults of some people are obvious long before they come to the reckoning, while others have faultsthat are not discovered until later.	24 Τινων ανθρωπων αι αμαρτιαι ειναι φανεραι, και προπορευονται αυτων εις την κρισιν, εις τινας δε και επακολουθουσιν?
25 Similarly, the good that people do can be obvious; but even when it is not, it cannot remain hidden.	25 ωσαυτως και τα καλα εργα τινων ειναι φανερα, και οσα ειναι κατ' αλλον τροπον δεν δυνανται να κρυφθωσι.
