NEW JERUSALEMDOUAI-RHEIMS
It is because of this that I, Paul, a prisoner of the Lord Jesus on behalf of you gentiles. . .1 For this cause, I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ, for you Gentiles;
You have surely heard the way in which God entrusted me with the grace he gave me for your sake;2 If yet you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me towards you:
he made known to me by a revelation the mystery I have just described briefly-3 How that, according to revelation, the mystery has been made known to me, as I have written above in a few words;
a reading of it wil enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of Christ.4 As you reading, may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ,
This mystery, as it is now revealed in the Spirit to his holy apostles and prophets, was unknown tohumanity in previous generations:5 Which in other generations was not known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit:
that the gentiles now have the same inheritance and form the same Body and enjoy the same promisein Christ Jesus through the gospel.6 That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and co-partners of his promise in Christ Jesus, by the gospel:
I have been made the servant of that gospel by a gift of grace from God who gave it to me by theworkings of his power.7 Of which I am made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God, which is given to me according to the operation of his power:
I, who am less than the least of all God's holy people, have been entrusted with this special grace, ofproclaiming to the gentiles the unfathomable treasure of Christ8 To me, the least of all the saints, is given this grace, to preach among the Gentiles, the unsearchable riches of Christ,
and of throwing light on the inner workings of the mystery kept hidden through al the ages in God, theCreator of everything.9 And to enlighten all men, that they may see what is the dispensation of the mystery which hath been hidden from eternity in God, who created all things:
The purpose of this was, that now, through the Church, the principalities and ruling forces should learnhow many-sided God's wisdom is,10 That the manifold wisdom of God may be made known to the principalities and powers in heavenly places through the church,
according to the plan which he had formed from al eternity in Christ Jesus our Lord.11 According to the eternal purpose, which he made, in Christ Jesus our Lord:
In him we are bold enough to approach God in complete confidence, through our faith in him;12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
so, I beg you, do not let the hardships I go through on your account make you waver; they are yourglory.13 Wherefore I pray you not to faint at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
This, then, is what I pray, kneeling before the Father,14 For this cause I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
from whom every fatherhood, in heaven or on earth, takes its name.15 Of whom all paternity in heaven and earth is named,
In the abundance of his glory may he, through his Spirit, enable you to grow firm in power with regardto your inner self,16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened by his Spirit with might unto the inward man,
so that Christ may live in your hearts through faith, and then, planted in love and built on love,17 That Christ may dwell by faith in your hearts; that being rooted and founded in charity,
with al God's holy people you wil have the strength to grasp the breadth and the length, the heightand the depth;18 You may be able to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth, and length, and height, and depth:
so that, knowing the love of Christ, which is beyond knowledge, you may be fil ed with the utterful ness of God.19 To know also the charity of Christ, which surpasseth all knowledge, that you may be filled unto all the fulness of God.
Glory be to him whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine;20 Now to him who is able to do all things more abundantly than we desire or understand, according to the power that worketh in us;
glory be to him from generation to generation in the Church and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever.Amen.21 To him be glory in the church, and in Christ Jesus unto all generations, world without end. Amen.
