1 It is because of this that I, Paul, a prisoner of the Lord Jesus on behalf of you gentiles. . .	1 Voilà pourquoi moi, Paul, prisonnier du Christ pour vous, les non-Juifs…
2 You have surely heard the way in which God entrusted me with the grace he gave me for your sake;	2 On a dû vous dire comment m’est venue cette grâce de Dieu que j’ai reçue pour vous:
3 he made known to me by a revelation the mystery I have just described briefly-	3 une révélation m’a fait connaître ce plan mystérieux dont je vous ai parlé en peu de mots.
4 a reading of it wil enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of Christ.	4 C’est assez pour que vous puissiez apprécier l’intelligence que j’ai du mystère du Christ.
5 This mystery, as it is now revealed in the Spirit to his holy apostles and prophets, was unknown tohumanity in previous generations:	5 Il n’avait pas été révélé aux humains des temps passés comme il vient de l’être grâce aux dons spirituels des saints apôtres et prophètes,
6 that the gentiles now have the same inheritance and form the same Body and enjoy the same promisein Christ Jesus through the gospel.	6 et c’est que, dans le Christ Jésus, les païens ont part à l’héritage, qu’ils sont incorporés, et qu’ils jouissent de la même Promesse. C’est cela la Bonne Nouvelle
7 I have been made the servant of that gospel by a gift of grace from God who gave it to me by theworkings of his power.	7 dont je suis devenu administrateur sans aucun mérite, lorsque Dieu a montré en moi toute sa force et m’a donné cette grâce.
8 I, who am less than the least of all God's holy people, have been entrusted with this special grace, ofproclaiming to the gentiles the unfathomable treasure of Christ	8 A moi, le dernier des croyants, il m’a donné cette mission d’annoncer aux païens la richesse inépuisable du Christ
9 and of throwing light on the inner workings of the mystery kept hidden through al the ages in God, theCreator of everything.	9 et de mettre en lumière la réalisation du plan mystérieux, caché depuis toujours en Dieu, Créateur de l’univers.
10 The purpose of this was, that now, through the Church, the principalities and ruling forces should learnhow many-sided God's wisdom is,	10 Dès maintenant les Principautés et Autorités du monde supérieur vont découvrir à travers l’Église les multiples aspects de la sagesse de Dieu,
11 according to the plan which he had formed from al eternity in Christ Jesus our Lord.	11 selon le plan éternel qu’il a fait dans le Christ Jésus, notre Seigneur.
12 In him we are bold enough to approach God in complete confidence, through our faith in him;	12 En lui nous nous approchons maintenant de Dieu pleins d’assurance, avec la foi qu’il nous a laissée.
13 so, I beg you, do not let the hardships I go through on your account make you waver; they are yourglory.	13 Donc, je vous en prie, ne vous laissez pas abattre par les épreuves qui m’arrivent pour vous: elles sont votre gloire.
14 This, then, is what I pray, kneeling before the Father,	14 Et maintenant je me mets à genoux devant le Père,
15 from whom every fatherhood, in heaven or on earth, takes its name.	15 de qui toute patrie, toute famille céleste, a reçu son nom: car patrie vient de Père.
16 In the abundance of his glory may he, through his Spirit, enable you to grow firm in power with regardto your inner self,	16 Que vous receviez de lui la force, à la mesure de sa Gloire inépuisable, et soyez affermis intérieurement par son Esprit.
17 so that Christ may live in your hearts through faith, and then, planted in love and built on love,	17 Que le Christ habite en vos cœurs par la foi, que vous preniez racine dans l’amour pour vous construire sur lui.
18 with al God's holy people you wil have the strength to grasp the breadth and the length, the heightand the depth;	18 Que vous deveniez capables, vous et tous les saints, de comprendre combien cet amour est étendu, large, haut et profond,
19 so that, knowing the love of Christ, which is beyond knowledge, you may be fil ed with the utterful ness of God.	19 - que vous puissiez connaître, en un mot, l’amour du Christ qui dépasse toute connaissance, afin que vous soyez comblés et puissiez atteindre la plénitude de Dieu.
20 Glory be to him whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine;	20 À celui dont la force agit en nous, à celui qui peut faire infiniment plus que ce que nous demandons ou comprenons,
21 glory be to him from generation to generation in the Church and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever.Amen.	21 à lui la gloire dans l’Église et dans le Christ Jésus, tout au long des générations et dans tous les siècles! Amen.
