1 And so, brothers, I was not able to talk to you as spiritual people; I had to talk to you as people stilliving by your natural inclinations, stil infants in Christ;	1 Pourtant, frères, je n’ai pas pu vous parler comme à des spirituels mais comme à des hommes charnels, comme à des petits enfants dans le Christ.
2 I fed you with milk and not solid food, for you were not yet able to take it -- and even now, you are stilnot able to,	2 C’est du lait que je vous ai donné, non de la nourriture. Ce n’était pas possible pour vous et ce ne l’est pas encore,
3 for you are still living by your natural inclinations. As long as there are jealousy and rivalry among you,that surely means that you are stil living by your natural inclinations and by merely human principles.	3 car vous êtes encore charnels. N’y a-t-il pas chez vous des rivalités et de la jalousie? C’est donc que vous êtes charnels et vous vous conduisez comme les gens ordinaires.
4 While there is one that says, 'I belong to Paul' and another that says, 'I belong to Apol os' are you notbeing only too human?	4 Tant que vous dites: “Je suis pour Paul”, ou: “Je suis pour Apollos”, n’êtes-vous pas comme tout le monde?
5 For what is Apollos and what is Paul? The servants through whom you came to believe, and each hasonly what the Lord has given him.	5 Qu’est-ce que Paul? Qu’est-ce qu’Apollos? Des serviteurs qui ont reçu de Dieu des dons différents, et grâce à eux vous avez cru.
6 I did the planting, Apol os did the watering, but God gave growth.	6 Moi j’ai planté, Apollos a arrosé, mais c’est Dieu qui a fait pousser.
7 In this, neither the planter nor the waterer counts for anything; only God, who gives growth.	7 Celui qui compte, ce n’est pas le semeur ni l’arroseur, mais Dieu qui fait que cela pousse.
8 It is al one who does the planting and who does the watering, and each will have the proper pay for thework that he has done.	8 Le semeur et l’arroseur sont dans la même situation, et chacun d’eux sera payé selon son travail.
9 After all, we do share in God's work; you are God's farm, God's building.	9 Nous travaillons avec et pour Dieu, et vous, vous êtes son champ, vous êtes une construction de Dieu.
10 By the grace of God which was given to me, I laid the foundations like a trained master-builder, andsomeone else is building on them. Now each one must be careful how he does the building.	10 J’ai mis en place les fondations, comme un bon architecte, puisque c’est le talent que j’ai reçu de Dieu, et c’est un autre qui va construire par-dessus. Mais chacun doit se demander comment il construit.
11 For nobody can lay down any other foundation than the one which is there already, namely JesusChrist.	11 On ne peut pas poser une autre pierre de fondation que celle qui est déjà là: Jésus Christ.
12 On this foundation, different people may build in gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay or straw	12 Mais sur cette fondation on peut construire avec de l’or, de l’argent, des pierres précieuses, ou avec du bois, ou de la paille et des bambous.
13 but each person's handiwork wil be shown for what it is. The Day which dawns in fire will make it clearand the fire itself wil test the quality of each person's work.	13 Un jour on reconnaîtra le travail de chacun. Le jour du jugement le fera voir, quand tout sera éprouvé par le feu. Le feu permettra de voir ce que vaut le travail de chacun.
14 The one whose work stands up to it wil be given his wages;	14 Si ce qu’on a construit résiste, alors on recevra un salaire;
15 the one whose work is burnt down wil suffer the loss of it, though he himself will be saved; he wil besaved as someone might expect to be saved from a fire.	15 mais si le feu détruit le travail, l’ouvrier paiera le dommage. Il sera sauvé bien sûr, mais non sans passer par le feu.
16 Do you not realise that you are a temple of God with the Spirit of God living in you?	16 Ne savez-vous pas que vous êtes le temple de Dieu et que l’Esprit de Dieu habite en vous?
17 If anybody should destroy the temple of God, God will destroy that person, because God's temple isholy; and you are that temple.	17 Celui qui détruit le temple de Dieu, Dieu le détruira. Le temple de Dieu est saint, et c’est vous.
18 There is no room for self-delusion. Any one of you who thinks he is wise by worldly standards mustlearn to be a fool in order to be real y wise.	18 Ne vous trompez pas: celui d’entre vous qui passe pour un sage, au sens ordinaire, qu’il perde la raison pour devenir sage.
19 For the wisdom of the world is folly to God. As scripture says: He traps the crafty in the snare of theirown cunning	19 Car la sagesse de ce monde est folie aux yeux de Dieu; l’Écriture le dit: Il prend les sages au filet de leurs propres astuces.
20 and again: The Lord knows the plans of the wise and how insipid they are.	20 Et encore: Le Seigneur connaît les arguments des sages et sait qu’ils ne valent rien.
21 So there is to be no boasting about human beings: everything belongs to you,	21 Donc, ne vous vantez jamais de vos grands hommes. Pensez que tout est pour vous,
22 whether it is Paul, or Apol os, or Cephas, the world, life or death, the present or the future -- al belongto you;	22 que ce soit Paul, Apollos ou Pierre, que ce soit le monde, la vie, la mort, le présent ou le futur: tout est à vous.
23 but you belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God.	23 Mais vous, vous êtes au Christ, et le Christ est à Dieu.
