1 Now when I came to you, brothers, I did not come with any brilliance of oratory or wise argument toannounce to you the mystery of God.	1 Io poi quando venni a voi, o fratelli, ad annunziarvi la testimonianza di Cristo, venni non con sublimità di ragionamento, o di sapienza.
2 I was resolved that the only knowledge I would have while I was with you was knowledge of Jesus, andof him as the crucified Christ.	2 Imperocché non mi credetti di sapere altra cosa tra di voi, se non Gesù Cristo, e questo crocifisso.
3 I came among you in weakness, in fear and great trembling	3 Ed io fui tra di voi con molto abbattimento, e timore, e tremore.
4 and what I spoke and proclaimed was not meant to convince by philosophical argument, but todemonstrate the convincing power of the Spirit,	4 E il mio parlare, e la mia predicazione fu non nelle persuasive della umana sapienza, ma nella manifestazione di spirito e di virtù:
5 so that your faith should depend not on human wisdom but on the power of God.	5 Affinchè la vostra fede non posi sopra l'umana sapienza, ma sopra la potenza di Dio.
6 But stil , to those who have reached maturity, we do talk of a wisdom, not, it is true, a philosophy of thisage or of the rulers of this age, who will not last long now.	6 Tra i perfetti poi noi parliamo sapienza: ma sapienza non di questo secolo, né de' principi di questo secolo, i quali sono annichilati:
7 It is of the mysterious wisdom of God that we talk, the wisdom that was hidden, which God predestinedto be for our glory before the ages began.	7 Ma parliamo della sapienza di Dio in mistero, di quella occulta, di quella preordinata da Dio prima de' secoli per nostra gloria.
8 None of the rulers of the age recognised it; for if they had recognised it, they would not have crucifiedthe Lord of glory;	8 La quale da niuno de'principi di questo secolo fu conosciuta: imperocché se l'avesser conosciuta, non avrebber giammai crocifisso il Signor della gloria.
9 but it is as scripture says: What no eye has seen and no ear has heard, what the mind of man cannotvisualise; al that God has prepared for those who love him;	9 Ma come sta scritto: né occhio vide, né orecchio udì, né entrò in cuor dell'uomo, quali cose ha Dio preparate per coloro, che lo amano:
10 to us, though, God has given revelation through the Spirit, for the Spirit explores the depths ofeverything, even the depths of God.	10 A noi però le ha rilevate Dio per mezzo del suo Spirito: imperocché lo Spirito penetra tutte le cose, anche la profondità di Dio.
11 After al , is there anyone who knows the qualities of anyone except his own spirit, within him; and inthe same way, nobody knows the qualities of God except the Spirit of God.	11 Imperocché chi tra gli uomini, conosce le cose dell'uomo, fuorichè lo spirito dell'uomo, che sta in lui? Cosi pure le cose di Dio niuno le conosce, fuorichè lo spirito di Dio.
12 Now, the Spirit we have received is not the spirit of the world but God's own Spirit, so that we mayunderstand the lavish gifts God has given us.	12 Noi però abbiam ricevuto non lo spirito di questo mondo, ma lo spirito, che è da Dio; affinchè conosciamo le cose, che sono state da Dio donate a noi:
13 And these are what we speak of, not in the terms learnt from human philosophy, but in terms learntfrom the Spirit, fitting spiritual language to spiritual things.	13 Delle quali pur discorriamo non coi dotti sermoni dell'umana sapienza, ma colla dottrina dello Spirito, adattando cose spirituali a cose spirituali.
14 The natural person has no room for the gifts of God's Spirit; to him they are folly; he cannot recognisethem, because their value can be assessed only in the Spirit.	14 Ma l'uomo animale non capisce le cose dello Spirito di Dio: conciossiachè per lui sono stoltezza, nè può intenderle: perché spiritualmente discernonsi.
15 The spiritual person, on the other hand, can assess the value of everything, and that person's valuecannot be assessed by anybody else.	15 Ma lo spirituale giudica di tutte le cose: ed ei non è giudicato da alcuno.
16 For: who has ever known the mind of the Lord? Who has ever been his adviser? But we are thosewho have the mind of Christ.	16 Imperocché chi ha conosciuta la mente del Signore, onde lo ammaestri? Noi però abbiamo il senso di Cristo.
