1 Now when I came to you, brothers, I did not come with any brilliance of oratory or wise argument toannounce to you the mystery of God.	1 Anch’io, fratelli, quando venni tra voi, non mi presentai ad annunciarvi il mistero di Dio con l’eccellenza della parola o della sapienza.
2 I was resolved that the only knowledge I would have while I was with you was knowledge of Jesus, andof him as the crucified Christ.	2 Io ritenni infatti di non sapere altro in mezzo a voi se non Gesù Cristo, e Cristo crocifisso.
3 I came among you in weakness, in fear and great trembling	3 Mi presentai a voi nella debolezza e con molto timore e trepidazione.
4 and what I spoke and proclaimed was not meant to convince by philosophical argument, but todemonstrate the convincing power of the Spirit,	4 La mia parola e la mia predicazione non si basarono su discorsi persuasivi di sapienza, ma sulla manifestazione dello Spirito e della sua potenza,
5 so that your faith should depend not on human wisdom but on the power of God.	5 perché la vostra fede non fosse fondata sulla sapienza umana, ma sulla potenza di Dio.
6 But stil , to those who have reached maturity, we do talk of a wisdom, not, it is true, a philosophy of thisage or of the rulers of this age, who will not last long now.	6 Tra coloro che sono perfetti parliamo, sì, di sapienza, ma di una sapienza che non è di questo mondo, né dei dominatori di questo mondo, che vengono ridotti al nulla.
7 It is of the mysterious wisdom of God that we talk, the wisdom that was hidden, which God predestinedto be for our glory before the ages began.	7 Parliamo invece della sapienza di Dio, che è nel mistero, che è rimasta nascosta e che Dio ha stabilito prima dei secoli per la nostra gloria.
8 None of the rulers of the age recognised it; for if they had recognised it, they would not have crucifiedthe Lord of glory;	8 Nessuno dei dominatori di questo mondo l’ha conosciuta; se l’avessero conosciuta, non avrebbero crocifisso il Signore della gloria.
9 but it is as scripture says: What no eye has seen and no ear has heard, what the mind of man cannotvisualise; al that God has prepared for those who love him;	9 Ma, come sta scritto: Quelle cose che occhio non vide, né orecchio udì, né mai entrarono in cuore di uomo, Dio le ha preparate per coloro che lo amano.
10 to us, though, God has given revelation through the Spirit, for the Spirit explores the depths ofeverything, even the depths of God.	10 Ma a noi Dio le ha rivelate per mezzo dello Spirito; lo Spirito infatti conosce bene ogni cosa, anche le profondità di Dio.
11 After al , is there anyone who knows the qualities of anyone except his own spirit, within him; and inthe same way, nobody knows the qualities of God except the Spirit of God.	11 Chi infatti conosce i segreti dell’uomo se non lo spirito dell’uomo che è in lui? Così anche i segreti di Dio nessuno li ha mai conosciuti se non lo Spirito di Dio.
12 Now, the Spirit we have received is not the spirit of the world but God's own Spirit, so that we mayunderstand the lavish gifts God has given us.	12 Ora, noi non abbiamo ricevuto lo spirito del mondo, ma lo Spirito di Dio per conoscere ciò che Dio ci ha donato.
13 And these are what we speak of, not in the terms learnt from human philosophy, but in terms learntfrom the Spirit, fitting spiritual language to spiritual things.	13 Di queste cose noi parliamo, con parole non suggerite dalla sapienza umana, bensì insegnate dallo Spirito, esprimendo cose spirituali in termini spirituali.
14 The natural person has no room for the gifts of God's Spirit; to him they are folly; he cannot recognisethem, because their value can be assessed only in the Spirit.	14 Ma l’uomo lasciato alle sue forze non comprende le cose dello Spirito di Dio: esse sono follia per lui e non è capace di intenderle, perché di esse si può giudicare per mezzo dello Spirito.
15 The spiritual person, on the other hand, can assess the value of everything, and that person's valuecannot be assessed by anybody else.	15 L’uomo mosso dallo Spirito, invece, giudica ogni cosa, senza poter essere giudicato da nessuno.
16 For: who has ever known the mind of the Lord? Who has ever been his adviser? But we are thosewho have the mind of Christ.	16 Infatti chi mai ha conosciuto il pensiero del Signore in modo da poterlo consigliare? Ora, noi abbiamo il pensiero di Cristo.
