1 Paul, cal ed by the wil of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Sosthenes, our brother,	1 Paolo, chiamato apostolo di Gesù Cristo per volontà di Dio, e il fratello Sostene
2 to the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and cal ed to beGod's holy people, with al those everywhere who cal on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord as wel asours.	2 alla chiesa di Dio che è in Corinto, ai santificati in Cristo Gesù, chiamati santi, a tutti quelli che, dovunque sia, invocano il nome del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo, loro e nostro Signore.
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	3 Grazie e pace a voi da Dio padre nostro e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.
4 I am continual y thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in ChristJesus;	4 Io rendo continuamente grazie al mio Dio, riguardo a voi, per la grazia di Dio che vi è stata fatta in Gesù Cristo;
5 in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge;	5 perche in lui siete divenuti ricchi di ogni cosa, d'ogni dono di parole e di scienza,

7 And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;	7 in modo che non manchi dono alcuno a voi che aspettate la manifestazione del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo,
8 he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day ofour Lord Jesus Christ.	8 il quale vi farà anche perseverare sino alla fine, perchè siate senza colpa nel giorno della venuta del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo.
9 You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.	9 Dio, dal quale siete stati chiamati alla società del suo Figliolo Gesù Cristo Signore nostro, è fedele.
10 Brothers, I urge you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, not to have factions among yourselves butal to be in agreement in what you profess; so that you are perfectly united in your beliefs and judgements.	10 Io vi esorto, o fratelli, nel nome del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, ad essere tutti d'un medesimo linguaggio, a non creare scismi tra voi, ma a stare perfettamente uniti in un medesimo pensiero e in un medesimo sentimento.
11 From what Chloe's people have been telling me about you, brothers, it is clear that there are seriousdifferences among you.	11 Perchè riguardo a voi, o miei fratelli, da quelli di Cloe mi è stato riferito esservi tra voi delle contese.
12 What I mean is this: every one of you is declaring, 'I belong to Paul,' or 'I belong to Apollos,' or 'Ibelong to Cephas,' or 'I belong to Christ.'	12 Sarebbe a dire che ciascuno di voi dice: « Io poi son di Paolo », « e io di Apollo », « e io di Cefa », « io invece di Cristo ».
13 Has Christ been split up? Was it Paul that was crucified for you, or was it in Paul's name that you werebaptised?	13 E' egli diviso Cristo? E' forse stato crocifìsso per voi Paolo? Che forse nel nome di Paolo siete stati battezzati?
14 I am thankful I did not baptise any of you, except Crispus and Gaius,	14 Ringrazio Dio di non aver battezzato di voi altri che Crispo e Gaio,
15 so that no one can say that you were baptised in my name.	15 perchè nessuno possa dire che siete stati battezzati nel mio nome.
16 Yes, I did baptise the family of Stephanas, too; but besides these I do not think I baptised anyone.	16 Ho battezzato anche la famiglia di Stefana: tolti questi, non so di aver battezzato altri.
17 After al , Christ sent me not to baptise, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom oflanguage, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.	17 Del resto, non a battezzare mi ha mandato Cristo, ma a predicare il Vangelo, e senza sapienza di parole, affinché non sia resa vana la croce di Cristo.
18 The message of the cross is fol y for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are onthe road to salvation it is the power of God.	18 Infatti la dottrina della croce è una follia per quelli che si perdono, ma per quelli che si salvano, per noi, è la potenza di Dio.
19 As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing theunderstanding of any who understand.	19 Così difatti sta scritto: Sperderò la sapienza dei savi e annienterò la sapienza dei prudenti.
20 Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do younot see how God has shown up human wisdom as fol y?	20 Dov'è il savio? Dov'è lo scriba? Dov'è l'indagatore di questo secolo? Non ha forse Dio dimostrata pazza la sapienza di questo mondo?
21 Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God's ownpleasure to save believers through the fol y of the gospel.	21 Difatti, siccome il mondo colla sua sapienza non ha conosciuto Dio, nella sua sapienza piacque a Dio di salvare i credenti colla stoltezza della predicazione.
22 While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,	22 Or mentre i Giudei esigono dei miracoli e i Greci cercan della sapienza,
23 we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentilesfoolishness,	23 noi predichiamo Cristo crocifisso, scandalo per i Giudei e pei Gentili stoltezza.
24 but to those who have been cal ed, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the powerof God and the wisdom of God.	24 Ma per quelli che sono chiamati, sian Giudei che Greci, Cristo è virtù di Dio e sapienza di Dio;
25 God's fol y is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.	25 perche la follìa di Dio è più savia degli uomini, e la debolezza di Dio è più forte degli uomini.
26 Consider, brothers, how you were cal ed; not many of you are wise by human standards, not manyinfluential, not many from noble families.	26 Considerate infatti la vostra vocazione, o fratelli, come non son molti i sapienti secondo la carne, non molti i potenti, non molti i nobili;
27 No, God chose those who by human standards are fools to shame the wise; he chose those who byhuman standards are weak to shame the strong,	27 ma Dio ha scelto le cose tenute stolte dal mondo per confondere i sapienti, e le cose deboli del mondo Dio le elesse per confondere le forti.
28 those who by human standards are common and contemptible -- indeed those who count for nothing-- to reduce to nothing al those that do count for something,	28 E le ignobili cose del mondo e le spregevoli queste elesse Dio e quelle che non sono per distruggere quelle che sono,
29 so that no human being might feel boastful before God.	29 affinchè nessuno si possa vantare dinanzi a lui.
30 It is by him that you exist in Christ Jesus, who for us was made wisdom from God, and saving justiceand holiness and redemption.	30 Or è per lui che voi siete in Cristo Gesù, il quale da Dio è stato fatto per noi sapienza e giustizia e santificazione e redenzione,
31 As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.	31 affinchè, come sta scritto: Chi si gloria, si glorii nel Signore.
