1 Corinthians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Paul, cal ed by the wil of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Sosthenes, our brother,	1 Pablo, llamado a ser Apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y el hermano Sóstenes,
2 to the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and cal ed to beGod's holy people, with al those everywhere who cal on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord as wel asours.	2 saludan a la Iglesia de Dios que reside en Corinto, a los que han sido santificados en Cristo Jesús y llamados a ser santos, junto con todos aquellos que en cualquier parte invocan el nombre de Jesucristo, nuestro Señor, Señor de ellos y nuestro.
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	3 Llegue a ustedes la gracia y la paz que proceden de Dios, nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo.
4 I am continual y thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in ChristJesus;	4 No dejo de dar gracias a Dios por ustedes, por la gracia que él les ha concedido en Cristo Jesús.
5 in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge;	5 En efecto, ustedes han sido colmados en él con toda clase de riquezas, las de la palabra y las del conocimiento,
6 so firmly has witness to Christ taken root in you.	6 en la medida que el testimonio de Cristo se arraigó en ustedes.
7 And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;	7 Por eso, mientras esperan la Revelación de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, no les falta ningún don de la gracia.
8 he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day ofour Lord Jesus Christ.	8 El los mantendrá firmes hasta el fin, para que sean irreprochables en el día de la Venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
9 You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.	9 Porque Dios es fiel, y él los llamó a vivir en comunión con su Hijo Jesucristo, nuestro Señor.
10 Brothers, I urge you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, not to have factions among yourselves butal to be in agreement in what you profess; so that you are perfectly united in your beliefs and judgements.	10 Hermanos, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, yo los exhorto a que se pongan de acuerdo: que no haya divisiones entre ustedes y vivan en perfecta armonía, teniendo la misma manera de pensar y de sentir.
11 From what Chloe's people have been telling me about you, brothers, it is clear that there are seriousdifferences among you.	11 Porque los de la familia de Cloe me han contado que hay discordias entre ustedes.
12 What I mean is this: every one of you is declaring, 'I belong to Paul,' or 'I belong to Apollos,' or 'Ibelong to Cephas,' or 'I belong to Christ.'	12 Me refiero a que cada uno afirma: «Yo soy de Pablo, yo de Apolo, yo de Cefas, yo de Cristo».
13 Has Christ been split up? Was it Paul that was crucified for you, or was it in Paul's name that you werebaptised?	13 ¿Acaso Cristo está dividido? ¿O es que Pablo fue crucificado por ustedes? ¿O será que ustedes fueron bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?
14 I am thankful I did not baptise any of you, except Crispus and Gaius,	14 Felizmente yo no he bautizado a ninguno de ustedes, excepto a Crispo y a Gayo.
15 so that no one can say that you were baptised in my name.	15 Así nadie puede decir que ha sido bautizado en mi nombre.
16 Yes, I did baptise the family of Stephanas, too; but besides these I do not think I baptised anyone.	16 Sí, también he bautizado a la familia de Estéfanas, pero no recuerdo haber bautizado a nadie más.
17 After al , Christ sent me not to baptise, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom oflanguage, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.	17 Porque Cristo no me envió a bautizar, sino a anunciar la Buena Noticia, y esto sin recurrir a la elocuencia humana, para que la cruz de Cristo no pierda su eficacia.
18 The message of the cross is fol y for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are onthe road to salvation it is the power of God.	18 El mensaje de la cruz es una locura para los que se pierden, pero para los que se salvan –para nosotros– es fuerza de Dios.
19 As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing theunderstanding of any who understand.	19 Porque está escrito: "Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios y rechazaré la ciencia de los inteligentes".
20 Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do younot see how God has shown up human wisdom as fol y?	20 ¿Dónde está el sabio? ¿Dónde el hombre culto? ¿Dónde el razonador sutil de este mundo? ¿Acaso Dios no ha demostrado que la sabiduría del mundo es una necedad?
21 Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God's ownpleasure to save believers through the fol y of the gospel.	21 En efecto, ya que el mundo, con su sabiduría, no reconoció a Dios en las obras que manifiestan su sabiduría, Dios quiso salvar a los que creen por la locura de la predicación.
22 While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,	22 Mientras los judíos piden milagros y los griegos van en busca de sabiduría,
23 we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentilesfoolishness,	23 nosotros, en cambio, predicamos a un Cristo crucificado, escándalo para los judíos y locura para los paganos,
24 but to those who have been cal ed, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the powerof God and the wisdom of God.	24 pero fuerza y sabiduría de Dios para los que han sido llamados, tanto judíos como griegos.
25 God's fol y is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.	25 Porque la locura de Dios es más sabia que la sabiduría de los hombres, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que la fortaleza de los hombres.
26 Consider, brothers, how you were cal ed; not many of you are wise by human standards, not manyinfluential, not many from noble families.	26 Hermanos, tengan en cuenta quiénes son los que han sido llamados: no hay entre ustedes muchos sabios, hablando humanamente, ni son muchos los poderosos ni los nobles.
27 No, God chose those who by human standards are fools to shame the wise; he chose those who byhuman standards are weak to shame the strong,	27 Al contrario, Dios eligió lo que el mundo tiene por necio, para confundir a los sabios; lo que el mundo tiene por débil, para confundir a los fuertes;
28 those who by human standards are common and contemptible -- indeed those who count for nothing-- to reduce to nothing al those that do count for something,	28 lo que es vil y despreciable y lo que no vale nada, para aniquilar a lo que vale.
29 so that no human being might feel boastful before God.	29 Así, nadie podrá gloriarse delante de Dios.
30 It is by him that you exist in Christ Jesus, who for us was made wisdom from God, and saving justiceand holiness and redemption.	30 Por él, ustedes están unidos a Cristo Jesús, que por disposición de Dios, se convirtió para nosotros en sabiduría y justicia, en santificación y redención,
31 As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.	31 a fin de que, como está escrito: "El que se gloría, que se gloríe en el Señor".
