1 Paul, cal ed by the wil of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Sosthenes, our brother,	1 Paolo, chiamato per volontà di Dio apostolo di Cristo Gesù, e il fratello Sostene,
2 to the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and cal ed to beGod's holy people, with al those everywhere who cal on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord as wel asours.	2 alla chiesa di Dio che è a Corinto, ai santificati in Cristo Gesù, chiamati ad essere santi con tutti quelli che in ogni luogo invocano il nome del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, nostro e loro:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	3 grazia a voi e pace da Dio nostro Padre e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.
4 I am continual y thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in ChristJesus;	4 Ringrazio il mio Dio continuamente per voi, per la grazia di Dio che vi è stata data in Cristo Gesù,
5 in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge;	5 perché siete stati arricchiti in lui di ogni cosa, di ogni parola e scienza.
6 so firmly has witness to Christ taken root in you.	6 La testimonianza di Cristo si è infatti stabilita fra voi con tale solidità,
7 And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;	7 che nessun dono più vi manca, mentre aspettate la manifestazione del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo.
8 he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day ofour Lord Jesus Christ.	8 Egli vi renderà saldi sino alla fine, irreprensibili nel giorno del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo:
9 You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.	9 è fedele Dio, dal quale siete stati chiamati alla comunione con il Figlio suo Gesù Cristo Signore nostro!
10 Brothers, I urge you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, not to have factions among yourselves butal to be in agreement in what you profess; so that you are perfectly united in your beliefs and judgements.	10 Ora vi esorto, o fratelli, per il nome del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, ad essere tutti unanimi nel parlare, che non vi siano divisioni tra voi, ma siate in perfetto accordo nella mente e nel pensiero.
11 From what Chloe's people have been telling me about you, brothers, it is clear that there are seriousdifferences among you.	11 Mi fu segnalato infatti sul conto vostro, o fratelli, dalla gente di Cloe, che vi sono contese tra voi.
12 What I mean is this: every one of you is declaring, 'I belong to Paul,' or 'I belong to Apollos,' or 'Ibelong to Cephas,' or 'I belong to Christ.'	12 Mi riferisco al fatto che ciascuno di voi dice: "Io sono di Paolo", "Io invece sono di Apollo", "E io di Cefa", "E io di Cristo"!
13 Has Christ been split up? Was it Paul that was crucified for you, or was it in Paul's name that you werebaptised?	13 Ma Cristo è diviso? Forse Paolo è stato crocifisso per voi, o è nel nome di Paolo che siete stati battezzati?
14 I am thankful I did not baptise any of you, except Crispus and Gaius,	14 Ringrazio Dio di non aver battezzato nessuno di voi, se non Crispo e Gaio,
15 so that no one can say that you were baptised in my name.	15 affinché nessuno possa dire che siete stati battezzati nel mio nome.
16 Yes, I did baptise the family of Stephanas, too; but besides these I do not think I baptised anyone.	16 Ho battezzato, è vero, anche la famiglia di Stefana, ma degli altri non so se abbia battezzato alcuno.
17 After al , Christ sent me not to baptise, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom oflanguage, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.	17 Cristo non mi ha mandato a battezzare, ma a predicare il vangelo, e non in sapienza di parola, perché non venga resa vana la croce di Cristo.
18 The message of the cross is fol y for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are onthe road to salvation it is the power of God.	18 La parola della croce è infatti stoltezza per quelli che vanno in perdizione, ma per quelli che si salvano, per noi, è potenza di Dio.
19 As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing theunderstanding of any who understand.	19 Sta scritto infatti: Distruggerò la sapienza dei sapienti, e l'intelligenza degli intelligenti riproverò.
20 Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do younot see how God has shown up human wisdom as fol y?	20 Dov'è il sapiente? Dov'è lo scriba? Dove l'intellettuale di questo mondo? Non ha forse Dio dimostrato stolta la sapienza di questo mondo?
21 Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God's ownpleasure to save believers through the fol y of the gospel.	21 Poiché, infatti, nel disegno sapiente di Dio, il mondo non conobbe Dio con la sapienza, piacque a Dio di salvare quelli che credono con la stoltezza della predicazione.
22 While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,	22 E mentre i Giudei chiedono dei miracoli e i Greci cercano la sapienza,
23 we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentilesfoolishness,	23 noi predichiamo Cristo crocifisso, scandalo per i Giudei, stoltezza per i pagani;
24 but to those who have been cal ed, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the powerof God and the wisdom of God.	24 ma per i chiamati, sia Giudei sia Greci, è Cristo, potenza di Dio e sapienza di Dio.
25 God's fol y is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.	25 Poiché la stoltezza di Dio è più sapiente degli uomini, e la debolezza di Dio è più forte degli uomini.
26 Consider, brothers, how you were cal ed; not many of you are wise by human standards, not manyinfluential, not many from noble families.	26 Considerate la vostra chiamata, o fratelli: non sono molti tra voi i sapienti secondo la carne, non molti i potenti, non molti i nobili.
27 No, God chose those who by human standards are fools to shame the wise; he chose those who byhuman standards are weak to shame the strong,	27 Ma Dio ha scelto ciò che è stoltezza del mondo per confondere i sapienti, Dio ha scelto ciò che è debolezza del mondo per confondere i forti,
28 those who by human standards are common and contemptible -- indeed those who count for nothing-- to reduce to nothing al those that do count for something,	28 Dio ha scelto ciò che è ignobile nel mondo e ciò che è disprezzato e ciò che è nulla per annientare le cose che sono,
29 so that no human being might feel boastful before God.	29 affinché nessuno possa gloriarsi davanti a Dio.
30 It is by him that you exist in Christ Jesus, who for us was made wisdom from God, and saving justiceand holiness and redemption.	30 Ed è per lui che voi siete in Cristo Gesù, il quale è diventato per noi, per opera di Dio, sapienza, giustizia, santificazione e redenzione,
31 As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.	31 affinché, come sta scritto: Chi si gloria, si glori nel Signore!
