1 Corinthians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Paul, cal ed by the wil of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Sosthenes, our brother,	1 PAOLO, chiamato ad essere apostolo di Gesù Cristo, per la volontà di Dio, e il fratello Sostene;
2 to the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and cal ed to beGod's holy people, with al those everywhere who cal on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord as wel asours.	2 alla chiesa di Dio, la quale è in Corinto, a’ santificati in Gesù Cristo, chiamati santi; insieme con tutti coloro, i quali in qualunque luogo invocano il nome di Gesù Cristo, Signor di loro, e di noi;
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	3 grazia, e pace a voi, da Dio, nostro Padre, e dal Signor Gesù Cristo.
4 I am continual y thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in ChristJesus;	4 Io del continuo rendo grazie di voi all’Iddio mio, per la grazia di Dio che vi è stata data in Cristo Gesù.
5 in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge;	5 Perciocchè in lui siete stati arricchiti in ogni cosa, in ogni dono di parola, e in ogni conoscenza;
6 so firmly has witness to Christ taken root in you.	6 secondo che la testimonianza di Cristo è stata confermata fra voi.
7 And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;	7 Talchè non vi manca dono alcuno, aspettando la manifestazione del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo;
8 he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day ofour Lord Jesus Christ.	8 il quale eziandio vi confermerà infino al fine, acciocchè siate senza colpa nel giorno del nostro Signor Gesù Cristo.
9 You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.	9 Fedele è Iddio, dal quale siete stati chiamati alla comunione del suo Figliuolo Gesù Cristo, nostro Signore
10 Brothers, I urge you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, not to have factions among yourselves butal to be in agreement in what you profess; so that you are perfectly united in your beliefs and judgements.	10 ORA, fratelli, io vi esorto, per lo nome del nostro Signor Gesù Cristo, che abbiate tutti un medesimo parlare, e che non vi sieno fra voi scismi; anzi che siate uniti insieme in una medesima mente, e in un medesimo sentire.
11 From what Chloe's people have been telling me about you, brothers, it is clear that there are seriousdifferences among you.	11 Perciocchè, fratelli miei, mi è stato di voi significato da que’ di casa Cloe, che vi son fra voi delle contenzioni.
12 What I mean is this: every one of you is declaring, 'I belong to Paul,' or 'I belong to Apollos,' or 'Ibelong to Cephas,' or 'I belong to Christ.'	12 Or questo voglio dire, che ciascun di voi dice: Io son di Paolo, ed io di Apollo, ed io di Cefa ed io di Cristo.
13 Has Christ been split up? Was it Paul that was crucified for you, or was it in Paul's name that you werebaptised?	13 Cristo è egli diviso? Paolo è egli stato crocifisso per voi? ovvero siete voi stati battezzati nel nome di Paolo?
14 I am thankful I did not baptise any of you, except Crispus and Gaius,	14 Io ringrazio Iddio, che io non ho battezzato alcun di voi, fuori che Crispo e Gaio;
15 so that no one can say that you were baptised in my name.	15 acciocchè alcuno non dica ch’io abbia battezzato nel mio nome.
16 Yes, I did baptise the family of Stephanas, too; but besides these I do not think I baptised anyone.	16 Ho battezzata ancora la famiglia di Stefana; nel rimanente, non so se ho battezzato alcun altro
17 After al , Christ sent me not to baptise, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom oflanguage, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.	17 PERCIOCCHÈ Cristo non mi ha mandato per battezzare, ma per evangelizzare; non in sapienza di parlare, acciocchè la croce di Cristo non sia resa vana.
18 The message of the cross is fol y for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are onthe road to salvation it is the power of God.	18 Perciocchè la parola della croce è ben pazzia a coloro che periscono; ma a noi, che siam salvati, è la potenza di Dio.
19 As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing theunderstanding of any who understand.	19 Poichè egli è scritto: Io farò perir la sapienza dei savi, ed annullerò l’intendimento degl’intendenti.
20 Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do younot see how God has shown up human wisdom as fol y?	20 Dov’è alcun savio? dov’è alcuno scriba? dov’è alcun ricercatore di questo secolo? non ha Iddio resa pazza la sapienza di questo mondo?
21 Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God's ownpleasure to save believers through the fol y of the gospel.	21 Perciocchè, poichè nella sapienza di Dio, il mondo non ha conosciuto Iddio per la sapienza, è piaciuto a Dio di salvare i credenti per la pazzia della predicazione.
22 While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,	22 Poichè e i Giudei chieggono segno, e i Greci cercano sapienza.
23 we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentilesfoolishness,	23 Ma noi predichiamo Cristo crocifisso, che è scandalo a’ Giudei, e pazzia a’ Greci.
24 but to those who have been cal ed, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the powerof God and the wisdom of God.	24 Ma a coloro che son chiamati, Giudei e Greci, noi predichiam Cristo, potenza di Dio, e sapienza di Dio.
25 God's fol y is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.	25 Poichè la pazzia di Dio è più savia che gli uomini, e la debolezza di Dio più forte che gli uomini.
26 Consider, brothers, how you were cal ed; not many of you are wise by human standards, not manyinfluential, not many from noble families.	26 Perciocchè, fratelli, vedete la vostra vocazione; che non siete molti savi secondo la carne, non molti potenti, non molti nobili.
27 No, God chose those who by human standards are fools to shame the wise; he chose those who byhuman standards are weak to shame the strong,	27 Anzi Iddio ha scelte le cose pazze del mondo, per isvergognare le savie. E Iddio ha scelte le cose deboli del mondo, per isvergognare le forti.
28 those who by human standards are common and contemptible -- indeed those who count for nothing-- to reduce to nothing al those that do count for something,	28 E Iddio ha scelte le cose ignobili del mondo, e le cose spregevoli, e le cose che non sono, per ridurre al niente quelle che sono.
29 so that no human being might feel boastful before God.	29 Acciocchè niuna carne si glorii nel cospetto di Dio.
30 It is by him that you exist in Christ Jesus, who for us was made wisdom from God, and saving justiceand holiness and redemption.	30 Or da lui voi siete in Cristo Gesù, il quale ci è stato fatto da Dio sapienza, e giustizia, e santificazione, e redenzione;
31 As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.	31 acciocchè, siccome è scritto: Chi si gloria, si glorii nel Signore
