1 Paul, cal ed by the wil of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Sosthenes, our brother,	1 Paulus, durch Gottes Willen berufener Apostel Christi Jesu, und der Bruder Sosthenes
2 to the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and cal ed to beGod's holy people, with al those everywhere who cal on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord as wel asours.	2 an die Kirche Gottes, die in Korinth ist, - an die Geheiligten in Christus Jesus, berufen als Heilige mit allen, die den Namen Jesu Christi, unseres Herrn, überall anrufen, bei ihnen und bei uns.
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	3 Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus.
4 I am continual y thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in ChristJesus;	4 Ich danke Gott jederzeit euretwegen für die Gnade Gottes, die euch in Christus Jesus geschenkt wurde,
5 in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge;	5 dass ihr an allem reich geworden seid in ihm, an aller Rede und aller Erkenntnis.

7 And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;	7 sodass euch keine Gnadengabe fehlt, während ihr auf die Offenbarung Jesu Christi, unseres Herrn, wartet.
8 he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day ofour Lord Jesus Christ.	8 Er wird euch auch festigen bis ans Ende, sodass ihr schuldlos dasteht am Tag Jesu, unseres Herrn.
9 You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.	9 Treu ist Gott, durch den ihr berufen worden seid zur Gemeinschaft mit seinem Sohn Jesus Christus, unserem Herrn.
10 Brothers, I urge you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, not to have factions among yourselves butal to be in agreement in what you profess; so that you are perfectly united in your beliefs and judgements.	10 Ich ermahne euch aber, Brüder, im Namen Jesu Christi, unseres Herrn: Seid alle einmütig und duldet keine Spaltungen unter euch; seid ganz eines Sinnes und einer Meinung.
11 From what Chloe's people have been telling me about you, brothers, it is clear that there are seriousdifferences among you.	11 Es wurde mir nämlich, meine Brüder, von den Leuten der Chloë berichtet, dass es Zank und Streit unter euch gibt.
12 What I mean is this: every one of you is declaring, 'I belong to Paul,' or 'I belong to Apollos,' or 'Ibelong to Cephas,' or 'I belong to Christ.'	12 Ich meine damit, dass jeder von euch etwas anderes sagt: Ich halte zu Paulus - ich zu Apollos - ich zu Kephas - ich zu Christus.
13 Has Christ been split up? Was it Paul that was crucified for you, or was it in Paul's name that you werebaptised?	13 Ist denn Christus zerteilt? Wurde etwa Paulus für euch gekreuzigt? Oder seid ihr auf den Namen des Paulus getauft worden?
14 I am thankful I did not baptise any of you, except Crispus and Gaius,	14 Ich danke Gott, dass ich niemand von euch getauft habe, außer Krispus und Gaius,
15 so that no one can say that you were baptised in my name.	15 sodass keiner sagen kann, ihr seiet auf meinen Namen getauft worden.
16 Yes, I did baptise the family of Stephanas, too; but besides these I do not think I baptised anyone.	16 Ich habe allerdings auch die Familie des Stephanas getauft. Ob ich sonst noch jemand getauft habe, weiß ich nicht mehr.
17 After al , Christ sent me not to baptise, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom oflanguage, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.	17 Denn Christus hat mich nicht gesandt zu taufen, sondern das Evangelium zu verkünden, aber nicht mit gewandten und klugen Worten, damit das Kreuz Christi nicht um seine Kraft gebracht wird.
18 The message of the cross is fol y for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are onthe road to salvation it is the power of God.	18 Denn das Wort vom Kreuz ist denen, die verloren gehen, Torheit; uns aber, die gerettet werden, ist es Gottes Kraft.
19 As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing theunderstanding of any who understand.	19 Es heißt nämlich in der Schrift: Ich lasse die Weisheit der Weisen vergehen und die Klugheit der Klugen verschwinden.
20 Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do younot see how God has shown up human wisdom as fol y?	20 Wo ist ein Weiser? Wo ein Schriftgelehrter? Wo ein Wortführer in dieser Welt? Hat Gott nicht die Weisheit der Welt als Torheit entlarvt?
21 Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God's ownpleasure to save believers through the fol y of the gospel.	21 Denn da die Welt angesichts der Weisheit Gottes auf dem Weg ihrer Weisheit Gott nicht erkannte, beschloss Gott, alle, die glauben, durch die Torheit der Verkündigung zu retten.
22 While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,	22 Die Juden fordern Zeichen, die Griechen suchen Weisheit.
23 we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentilesfoolishness,	23 Wir dagegen verkündigen Christus als den Gekreuzigten: für Juden ein empörendes Ärgernis, für Heiden eine Torheit,
24 but to those who have been cal ed, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the powerof God and the wisdom of God.	24 für die Berufenen aber, Juden wie Griechen, Christus, Gottes Kraft und Gottes Weisheit.
25 God's fol y is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.	25 Denn das Törichte an Gott ist weiser als die Menschen und das Schwache an Gott ist stärker als die Menschen.
26 Consider, brothers, how you were cal ed; not many of you are wise by human standards, not manyinfluential, not many from noble families.	26 Seht doch auf eure Berufung, Brüder! Da sind nicht viele Weise im irdischen Sinn, nicht viele Mächtige, nicht viele Vornehme,
27 No, God chose those who by human standards are fools to shame the wise; he chose those who byhuman standards are weak to shame the strong,	27 sondern das Törichte in der Welt hat Gott erwählt, um die Weisen zuschanden zu machen, und das Schwache in der Welt hat Gott erwählt, um das Starke zuschanden zu machen.
28 those who by human standards are common and contemptible -- indeed those who count for nothing-- to reduce to nothing al those that do count for something,	28 Und das Niedrige in der Welt und das Verachtete hat Gott erwählt: das, was nichts ist, um das, was etwas ist, zu vernichten,
29 so that no human being might feel boastful before God.	29 damit kein Mensch sich rühmen kann vor Gott.
30 It is by him that you exist in Christ Jesus, who for us was made wisdom from God, and saving justiceand holiness and redemption.	30 Von ihm her seid ihr in Christus Jesus, den Gott für uns zur Weisheit gemacht hat, zur Gerechtigkeit, Heiligung und Erlösung.
31 As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.	31 Wer sich also rühmen will, der rühme sich des Herrn; so heißt es schon in der Schrift.
