Romans 5

NEW JERUSALEM	STUTTGARTENSIA-DELITZSCH
1 So then, now that we have been justified by faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord JesusChrist;	1 לָכֵן אַחֲרֵי נִצְדַּקְנוּ בָאֱמוּנָה שָׁלוֹם לָנוּ עִם־הָאֱלֹהִים בַּאֲדֹנֵינוּ יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ
2 it is through him, by faith, that we have been admitted into God's favour in which we are living, andlook forward exultantly to God's glory.	2 אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדוֹ מָצָאנוּ בָאֱמוּנָה מָבוֹא אֶל־הַחֶסֶד הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר אֲנַחְנוּ עֹמְדִים בּוֹ וְנִתְהַלֵּל בְּתִקְוַת כְּבוֹד הָאֱלֹהִים
3 Not only that; let us exult, too, in our hardships, understanding that hardship develops perseverance,	3 וְלֹא־זֹאת בִּלְבָד כִּי אַף־נִתְהַלֵּל בַּצָּרוֹת יַעַן אֲשֶׁר יָדַעְנוּ כִּי־הַצָּרָה מְבִיאָה לִידֵי סַבְלָנוּת
4 and perseverance develops a tested character, something that gives us hope,	4 וְהַסַּבְלָנוּת לִידֵי עֲמִידָה בְנִסָּיוֹן וְהָעֲמִידָה בְנִסָּיוֹן לִידֵי תִקְוָה
5 and a hope which will not let us down, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by theHoly Spirit which has been given to us.	5 וְהַתִּקְוָה הִיא לֹא תָבִישׁ כִּי הוּצְקָה בִּלְבָבֵנוּ אַהֲבַת אֵל עַל־יְדֵי רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ הַנִּתָּן לָנוּ
6 When we were stil helpless, at the appointed time, Christ died for the godless.	6 כִּי הַמָּשִׁיחַ בְּעוֹדֵנוּ חַלָּשִׁים מֵת בְּעִתּוֹ בְּעַד הָרְשָׁעִים
7 You could hardly find anyone ready to die even for someone upright; though it is just possible that, fora real y good person, someone might undertake to die.	7 הֵן בְּעַד הַצַּדִּיק יִקְשֶׁה לְאִישׁ לָמוּת אָכֵן לָמוּת בְּעַד הַטּוֹב אוּלַי יִשָּׂאֵהוּ לִבּוֹ
8 So it is proof of God's own love for us, that Christ died for us while we were stil sinners.	8 אֲבָל בָּזֹאת הוֹדִיעַ הָאֱלֹהִים אֶת־אַהֲבָתוֹ אֵלֵינוּ כִּי הַמָּשִׁיחַ מֵת בַּעֲדֵנוּ בִּהְיוֹתֵנוּ עוֹד חַטָּאִים
9 How much more can we be sure, therefore, that, now that we have been justified by his death, we shalbe saved through him from the retribution of God.	9 וְעַתָּה אֲשֶׁר נִצְדַּקְנוּ בְּדָמוֹ מַה־מְּאֹד נִוָּשַׁע בּוֹ מִן־הַקָּצֶף
10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how muchmore can we be sure that, being now reconciled, we shal be saved by his life.	10 כִּי אִם־נִרְצִינוּ לֵאלֹהִים בְּמוֹת בְּנוֹ בִּהְיוֹתֵנוּ אֹיְבִים אַף כִּי־נִוָּשַׁע עַתָּה בְּחַיָּיו אַחֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר נִרְצִינוּ
11 What is more, we are filled with exultant trust in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whomwe have already gained our reconciliation.	11 וְלֹא־זֹאת בִּלְבָד כִּי גַם־מִתְהַלְלִים אֲנַחְנוּ בֵּאלֹהִים עַל־יַד אֲדֹנֵינוּ יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֲשֶׁר בּוֹ עַתָּה קִבַּלְנוּ אֶת־הָרִצּוּי
12 Wel then; it was through one man that sin came into the world, and through sin death, and thus deathhas spread through the whole human race because everyone has sinned.	12 לָכֵן כַּאֲשֶׁר עַל־יְדֵי אָדָם אֶחָד בָּא הַחֵטְא לָעוֹלָם וְהַמָּוֶת בְּעֵקֶב הַחֵטְא וְכֵן עָבַר הַמָּוֶת עַל־כָּל־בְּנֵי אָדָם מִפְּנֵי אֲשֶׁר כֻּלָּם חָטָאוּ
13 Sin already existed in the world before there was any law, even though sin is not reckoned whenthere is no law.	13 כִּי עַד־זְמַן הַתּוֹרָה הָיָה הַחֵטְא בָּעוֹלָם אַךְ לֹא־יֵחָשֵׁב חֵטְא בְּאֵין תּוֹרָה
14 Nonetheless death reigned over al from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sin was not thebreaking of a commandment, as Adam's was. He prefigured the One who was to come . . .	14 אוּלָם הַמָּוֶת מָלַךְ מֵאָדָם עַד־משֶׁה גַּם עַל־אֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר לֹא חָטְאוּ בְּדִמְיוֹן עֲבֵרַת אָדָם הָרִאשׁוֹן אֲשֶׁר־הוּא דְמוּת הֶעָתִיד לָבוֹא
15 There is no comparison between the free gift and the offence. If death came to many through theoffence of one man, how much greater an effect the grace of God has had, coming to so many and so plentiful yas a free gift through the one man Jesus Christ!	15 אַךְ לֹא כִדְבַר־הַפֶּשַׁע דְּבַר הַמַּתָּנָה כִּי אִם־בְּפֶשַׁע הָאֶחָד מֵתוּ הָרַבִּים אַף כִּי־חֶסֶד אֱלֹהִים וּמַתְּנָתוֹ עָדְפוּ עָדוֹף לָרַבִּים בְּחֶסֶד הָאָדָם הָאֶחָד יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ
16 Again, there is no comparison between the gift and the offence of one man. One single offencebrought condemnation, but now, after many offences, have come the free gift and so acquittal!	16 וְלֹא כְמוֹ עַל־יְדֵי חֹטֵא אֶחָד כֵּן הַמַּתָּנָה כִּי הַמִּשְׁפָּט יָצָא מֵאֶחָד לְחַיֵּב אֲבָל מַתְּנַת הַחֶסֶד הִיא לְזַכּוֹת מִפְּשָׁעִים רַבִּים
17 It was by one man's offence that death came to reign over all, but how much greater the reign in lifeof those who receive the ful ness of grace and the gift of saving justice, through the one man, Jesus Christ.	17 כִּי אִם־בְּפֶשַׁע הָאֶחָד מָלַךְ הַמָּוֶת עַל־יְדֵי הָאֶחָד אַף כִּי־מְקַבְּלֵי עֹדֶף הַחֶסֶד וּמַתְּנַת הַצְּדָקָה יִמְלְכוּ בַחַיִּים עַל־יְדֵי הָאֶחָד יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ
18 One man's offence brought condemnation on al humanity; and one man's good act has broughtjustification and life to all humanity.	18 לָכֵן כַּאֲשֶׁר בְּפֶשַׁע אֶחָד נֶאְשְׁמוּ כָּל־בְּנֵי־אָדָם כָּכָה גַּם־עַל־יְדֵי זְכוּת אַחַת יִזְכּוּ כָּל־בְּנֵי־אָדָם לַחַיִּים
19 Just as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience are manyto be made upright.	19 כִּי כַּאֲשֶׁר בִּמְרִי הָאָדָם הָאֶחָד הָיוּ הָרַבִּים לְחַטָּאִים כָּכָה גַּם עַל־יְדֵי מִשְׁמַעַת הָאֶחָד יִהְיוּ הָרַבִּים לְצַדִּיקִים
20 When law came on the scene, it was to multiply the offences. But however much sin increased, gracewas always greater;	20 אֲבָל הַתּוֹרָה נִכְנְסָה לְמַעַן יִרְבֶּה הַפָּשַׁע וּבַאֲשֶׁר רָבָה הַחֵטְא עָדַף מִמֶּנּוּ הֶחָסֶד
21 so that as sin's reign brought death, so grace was to rule through saving justice that leads to eternallife through Jesus Christ our Lord.	21 לְמַעַן כַּאֲשֶׁר מָלַךְ הַחֵטְא בַּמָּוֶת כָּכָה יִמְלֹךְ גַם־הַחֶסֶד עַל־יְדֵי הַצְּדָקָה לְחַיֵּי עוֹלָם בְּיֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֲדֹנֵינוּ
	22 הִתְרַחֲקוּ מִכָּל־הַדּוֹמֶה לָרָע
	23 וְהוּא אֱלֹהֵי הַשָּׁלוֹם יְקַדֵּשׁ אֶתְכֶם קְדֻשָּׁה שְׁלֵמָה וְכָל־רוּחֲכֶם וְנַפְשְׁכֶם וְגוּפְכֶם יִשָּׁמֵר תָּמִים בְּבוֹא אֲדֹנֵינוּ יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ
	24 נֶאֱמָן הַקּוֹרֵא אֶתְכֶם אֲשֶׁר גַּם־יַעֲשֶׂה
	25 אַחַי הִתְפַּלְלוּ בַעֲדֵנוּ
	26 שַׁאֲלוּ לִשְׁלוֹם כָּל־הָאַחִים בַּנְּשִׁיקָה הַקְּדשָׁה
	27 הִנְנִי מַשְׁבִּיעֲכֶם בָּאָדוֹן שֶׁתִּקָּרֵא הָאִגֶּרֶת הַזֹּאת בְּאָזְנֵי כָּל־הָאַחִים הַקְּדשִׁים
	28 חֶסֶד יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֲדֹנֵינוּ עִמָּכֶם אָמֵן
