Romans 5

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 So then, now that we have been justified by faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord JesusChrist;	1 Justificados, entonces, por la fe, estamos en paz con Dios, por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
2 it is through him, by faith, that we have been admitted into God's favour in which we are living, andlook forward exultantly to God's glory.	2 Por él hemos alcanzado, mediante la fe, la gracia en la que estamos afianzados, y por él nos gloriamos en la esperanza de la gloria de Dios.
3 Not only that; let us exult, too, in our hardships, understanding that hardship develops perseverance,	3 Más aún, nos gloriamos hasta de las mismas tribulaciones, porque sabemos que la tribulación produce la constancia;
4 and perseverance develops a tested character, something that gives us hope,	4 la constancia, la virtud probada; la virtud probada, la esperanza.
5 and a hope which will not let us down, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by theHoly Spirit which has been given to us.	5 Y la esperanza no quedará defraudada, porque el amor de Dios ha sido derramado en nuestros corazones por el Espíritu Santo, que nos ha sido dado.
6 When we were stil helpless, at the appointed time, Christ died for the godless.	6 En efecto, cuando todavía éramos débiles, Cristo, en el tiempo señalado, murió por los pecadores.
7 You could hardly find anyone ready to die even for someone upright; though it is just possible that, fora real y good person, someone might undertake to die.	7 Difícilmente se encuentra alguien que dé su vida por un hombre justo; tal vez alguno sea capaz de morir por un bienhechor.
8 So it is proof of God's own love for us, that Christ died for us while we were stil sinners.	8 Pero la prueba de que Dios nos ama es que Cristo murió por nosotros cuando todavía éramos pecadores.
9 How much more can we be sure, therefore, that, now that we have been justified by his death, we shalbe saved through him from the retribution of God.	9 Y ahora que estamos justificados por su sangre, con mayor razón seremos librados por él de la ira de Dios.
10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how muchmore can we be sure that, being now reconciled, we shal be saved by his life.	10 Porque si siendo enemigos, fuimos reconciliados con Dios por la muerte de su Hijo, mucho más ahora que estamos reconciliados, seremos salvados por su vida.
11 What is more, we are filled with exultant trust in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whomwe have already gained our reconciliation.	11 Y esto no es todo: nosotros nos gloriamos en Dios, por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, por quien desde ahora hemos recibido la reconciliación.
12 Wel then; it was through one man that sin came into the world, and through sin death, and thus deathhas spread through the whole human race because everyone has sinned.	12 Por lo tanto, por un solo hombre entró el pecado en el mundo, y por el pecado la muerte, y así la muerte pasó a todos los hombres, porque todos pecaron.
13 Sin already existed in the world before there was any law, even though sin is not reckoned whenthere is no law.	13 En efecto, el pecado ya estaba en el mundo, antes de la Ley, pero cuando no hay Ley, el pecado no se tiene en cuenta.
14 Nonetheless death reigned over al from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sin was not thebreaking of a commandment, as Adam's was. He prefigured the One who was to come . . .	14 Sin embargo, la muerte reinó desde Adán hasta Moisés, incluso en aquellos que no habían pecado, cometiendo una transgresión semejante a la de Adán, que es figura del que debía venir.
15 There is no comparison between the free gift and the offence. If death came to many through theoffence of one man, how much greater an effect the grace of God has had, coming to so many and so plentiful yas a free gift through the one man Jesus Christ!	15 Pero no hay proporción entre el don y la falta. Porque si la falta de uno solo provocó la muerte de todos, la gracia de Dios y el don conferido por la gracia de un solo hombre, Jesucristo, fueron derramados mucho más abundantemente sobre todos.
16 Again, there is no comparison between the gift and the offence of one man. One single offencebrought condemnation, but now, after many offences, have come the free gift and so acquittal!	16 Tampoco se puede comparar ese don con las consecuencias del pecado cometido por un solo hombre, ya que el juicio de condenación vino por una sola falta, mientras que el don de la gracia lleva a la justificación después de muchas faltas.
17 It was by one man's offence that death came to reign over all, but how much greater the reign in lifeof those who receive the ful ness of grace and the gift of saving justice, through the one man, Jesus Christ.	17 En efecto, si por la falta de uno solo reinó la muerte, con mucha más razón, vivirán y reinarán por medio de un solo hombre, Jesucristo, aquellos que han recibido abundantemente la gracia y el don de la justicia.
18 One man's offence brought condemnation on al humanity; and one man's good act has broughtjustification and life to all humanity.	18 Por consiguiente, así como la falta de uno solo causó la condenación de todos, también el acto de justicia de uno solo producirá para todos los hombres la justificación que conduce a la Vida.
19 Just as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience are manyto be made upright.	19 Y de la misma manera que por la desobediencia de un solo hombre, todos se convirtieron en pecadores, también por la obediencia de uno solo, todos se convertirán en justos.
20 When law came on the scene, it was to multiply the offences. But however much sin increased, gracewas always greater;	20 Es verdad que la Ley entró para que se multiplicaran las transgresiones, pero donde abundó el pecado, sobreabundó la gracia.
21 so that as sin's reign brought death, so grace was to rule through saving justice that leads to eternallife through Jesus Christ our Lord.	21 Porque así como el pecado reinó produciendo la muerte, también la gracia reinará por medio de la justicia para la Vida eterna, por Jesucristo, nuestro Señor.
