Romans 5

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 So then, now that we have been justified by faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord JesusChrist;	1 Avendo dunque ricevuto la giustificazione per mezzo della fede, abbiamo pace con Dio per mezzo del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo;
2 it is through him, by faith, that we have been admitted into God's favour in which we are living, andlook forward exultantly to God's glory.	2 per mezzo di lui abbiamo anche l'accesso, mediante la fede, a questa grazia nella quale siamo stati stabiliti e ci gloriamo nella speranza della gloria di Dio.
3 Not only that; let us exult, too, in our hardships, understanding that hardship develops perseverance,	3 Non solo, ma ci gloriamo perfino nelle tribolazioni, ben sapendo che la tribolazione produce la costanza,
4 and perseverance develops a tested character, something that gives us hope,	4 la costanza una virtù collaudata, la virtù collaudata la speranza.
5 and a hope which will not let us down, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by theHoly Spirit which has been given to us.	5 La speranza, poi, non delude, poiché l'amore di Dio è stato riversato nei nostri cuori per mezzo dello Spirito Santo datoci in dono.
6 When we were stil helpless, at the appointed time, Christ died for the godless.	6 Infatti, quando eravamo ancora senza forze, Cristo, al tempo stabilito, morì per gli empi.
7 You could hardly find anyone ready to die even for someone upright; though it is just possible that, fora real y good person, someone might undertake to die.	7 In realtà, a fatica, uno è disposto a morire per un giusto, e per una persona dabbene uno oserebbe forse morire.
8 So it is proof of God's own love for us, that Christ died for us while we were stil sinners.	8 Ma Dio ci dà prova del suo amore per noi nel fatto che, mentre ancora eravamo peccatori, Cristo morì per noi.
9 How much more can we be sure, therefore, that, now that we have been justified by his death, we shalbe saved through him from the retribution of God.	9 A maggior ragione, dunque, giustificati come ora siamo per mezzo del suo sangue, saremo da lui salvati dall'ira.
10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how muchmore can we be sure that, being now reconciled, we shal be saved by his life.	10 Se infatti, quando eravamo nemici, noi fummo riconciliati con Dio in virtù della morte del Figlio suo, quanto più, una volta riconciliati, saremo salvati per mezzo della sua vita.
11 What is more, we are filled with exultant trust in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whomwe have already gained our reconciliation.	11 E non solo questo, ma ci gloriamo pure in Dio per mezzo del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, per mezzo del quale adesso abbiamo ricevuto la riconciliazione.
12 Wel then; it was through one man that sin came into the world, and through sin death, and thus deathhas spread through the whole human race because everyone has sinned.	12 Perciò, come a causa di un solo uomo il peccato entrò nel mondo e attraverso il peccato la morte, e così la morte dilagò su tutti gli uomini per il fatto che tutti peccarono... --
13 Sin already existed in the world before there was any law, even though sin is not reckoned whenthere is no law.	13 Fino alla legge infatti c'era il peccato nel mondo, ma un peccato non viene imputato non essendoci legge;
14 Nonetheless death reigned over al from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sin was not thebreaking of a commandment, as Adam's was. He prefigured the One who was to come . . .	14 ma la morte esercitò il suo dominio da Adamo fino a Mosè, anche su coloro che non peccarono, a causa di quella loro affinità con la trasgressione di Adamo, il quale è figura del futuro (Adamo).
15 There is no comparison between the free gift and the offence. If death came to many through theoffence of one man, how much greater an effect the grace of God has had, coming to so many and so plentiful yas a free gift through the one man Jesus Christ!	15 Ma il dono di grazia non è come la caduta: se infatti per la caduta di uno i molti morirono, molto più sovrabbondò la benevolenza di Dio e il dono nella benevolenza di un solo uomo, Gesù Cristo, verso i molti.
16 Again, there is no comparison between the gift and the offence of one man. One single offencebrought condemnation, but now, after many offences, have come the free gift and so acquittal!	16 E non è del dono come per il peccato di uno solo: infatti il giudizio proveniente da uno solo sfocia in condanna, invece il dono di grazia partendo dai molti peccati sfocia in giustificazione.
17 It was by one man's offence that death came to reign over all, but how much greater the reign in lifeof those who receive the ful ness of grace and the gift of saving justice, through the one man, Jesus Christ.	17 Se dunque per la trasgressione di uno solo la morte regnò a causa di quello solo, quanto più coloro che ricevono l'abbondanza della benevolenza e il dono della giustizia regneranno nella vita a causa del solo Gesù Cristo!
18 One man's offence brought condemnation on al humanity; and one man's good act has broughtjustification and life to all humanity.	18 Dunque, come a causa della colpa di uno solo si ebbe in tutti gli uomini una condanna, così anche attraverso l'atto di giustizia di uno solo si avrà in tutti gli uomini la giustificazione di vita.
19 Just as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience are manyto be made upright.	19 Come infatti a causa della disobbedienza di un solo uomo, i molti furono costituiti peccatori, così anche per l'obbedienza di uno solo i molti saranno costituiti giusti.
20 When law came on the scene, it was to multiply the offences. But however much sin increased, gracewas always greater;	20 La legge subentrò affinché si moltiplicasse la trasgressione; ma dove si moltiplicò il peccato, sovrabbondò la grazia,
21 so that as sin's reign brought death, so grace was to rule through saving justice that leads to eternallife through Jesus Christ our Lord.	21 affinché, come regnò il peccato nella morte, così anche la grazia regni mediante la giustificazione per la vita eterna in grazia di Cristo nostro Signore.
