Romans 5

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 So then, now that we have been justified by faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord JesusChrist;	1 Habiendo, pues, recibido de la fe nuestra justificación, estamos en paz con Dios, por nuestro Señor Jesucristo,
2 it is through him, by faith, that we have been admitted into God's favour in which we are living, andlook forward exultantly to God's glory.	2 por quien hemos obtenido también, mediante la fe, el acceso a esta gracia en la cual nos hallamos, y nos gloriamos en la esperanza de la gloria de Dios.
3 Not only that; let us exult, too, in our hardships, understanding that hardship develops perseverance,	3 Más aún; nos gloriamos hasta en las tribulaciones, sabiendo que la tribulación engendra la paciencia;
4 and perseverance develops a tested character, something that gives us hope,	4 la paciencia, virtud probada; la virtud probada, esperanza,
5 and a hope which will not let us down, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by theHoly Spirit which has been given to us.	5 y la esperanza no falla, porque el amor de Dios ha sido derramado en nuestros corazones por el Espíritu Santo que nos ha sido dado.
6 When we were stil helpless, at the appointed time, Christ died for the godless.	6 En efecto, cuando todavía estábamos sin fuerzas, en el tiempo señalado, Cristo murió por los impíos; -
7 You could hardly find anyone ready to die even for someone upright; though it is just possible that, fora real y good person, someone might undertake to die.	7 en verdad, apenas habrá quien muera por un justo; por un hombre de bien tal vez se atrevería uno a morir -;
8 So it is proof of God's own love for us, that Christ died for us while we were stil sinners.	8 mas la prueba de que Dios nos ama es que Cristo, siendo nosotros todavía pecadores, murió por nosotros.
9 How much more can we be sure, therefore, that, now that we have been justified by his death, we shalbe saved through him from the retribution of God.	9 ¡Con cuánta más razón, pues, justificados ahora por su sangre, seremos por él salvos de la cólera!
10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how muchmore can we be sure that, being now reconciled, we shal be saved by his life.	10 Si cuando éramos enemigos, fuimos reconciliados con Dios por la muerte de su Hijo, ¡con cuánta más razón, estando ya reconciliados, seremos salvos por su vida!
11 What is more, we are filled with exultant trust in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whomwe have already gained our reconciliation.	11 Y no solamente eso, sino que también nos gloriamos en Dios, por nuestro Señor Jesucristo, por quien hemos obtenido ahora la reconciliación.
12 Wel then; it was through one man that sin came into the world, and through sin death, and thus deathhas spread through the whole human race because everyone has sinned.	12 Por tanto, como por un solo hombre entró el pecado en el mundo y por el pecado la muerte y así la muerte alcanzó a todos los hombres, por cuanto todos pecaron;
13 Sin already existed in the world before there was any law, even though sin is not reckoned whenthere is no law.	13 - porque, hasta la ley, había pecado en el mundo, pero el pecado no se imputa no habiendo ley;
14 Nonetheless death reigned over al from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sin was not thebreaking of a commandment, as Adam's was. He prefigured the One who was to come . . .	14 con todo, reinó la muerte desde Adán hasta Moisés aun sobre aquellos que no pecaron con una transgresión semejante a la de Adán, el cual es figura del que había de venir...
15 There is no comparison between the free gift and the offence. If death came to many through theoffence of one man, how much greater an effect the grace of God has had, coming to so many and so plentiful yas a free gift through the one man Jesus Christ!	15 Pero con el don no sucede como con el delito. Si por el delito de uno solo murieron todos ¡cuánto más la gracia de Dios y el don otorgado por la gracia de un solo hombre Jesucristo, se han desbordado sobre todos!
16 Again, there is no comparison between the gift and the offence of one man. One single offencebrought condemnation, but now, after many offences, have come the free gift and so acquittal!	16 Y no sucede con el don como con las consecuencias del pecado de uno solo; porque la sentencia, partiendo de uno solo, lleva a la condenación, mas la obra de la gracia, partiendo de muchos delitos, se resuelve en justificación.
17 It was by one man's offence that death came to reign over all, but how much greater the reign in lifeof those who receive the ful ness of grace and the gift of saving justice, through the one man, Jesus Christ.	17 En efecto, si por el delito de uno solo reinó la muerte por un solo hombre ¡con cuánta más razón los que reciben en abundancia la gracia y el don de la justicia, reinarán en la vida por un solo, por Jesucristo!
18 One man's offence brought condemnation on al humanity; and one man's good act has broughtjustification and life to all humanity.	18 Así pues, como el delito de uno solo atrajo sobre todos los hombres la condenación, así también la obra de justicia de uno solo procura toda la justificación que da la vida.
19 Just as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience are manyto be made upright.	19 En efecto, así como por la desobediencia de un solo hombre, todos fueron constituidos pecadores, así también por la obediencia de uno solo todos serán constituidos justos.
20 When law came on the scene, it was to multiply the offences. But however much sin increased, gracewas always greater;	20 La ley, en verdad, intervino para que abundara el delito; pero donde abundó el pecado, sobreabundó la gracia;
21 so that as sin's reign brought death, so grace was to rule through saving justice that leads to eternallife through Jesus Christ our Lord.	21 así, la mismo que el pecado reinó en la muerte, así también reinaría la gracia en virtud de la justicia para vida eterna por Jesucristo nuestro Señor.
