NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Once, when Peter and John were going up to the Temple for the prayers at the ninth hour,	1 Pietro e Giovanni solevano salire al tempio per la preghiera dell'ora nona.
2 it happened that there was a man being carried along. He was a cripple from birth; and they used to puthim down every day near the Temple entrance cal ed the Beautiful Gate so that he could beg from the peoplegoing in.	2 Ora, c'era un uomo zoppo fin dalla nascita che solevano portare e deporre ogni giorno presso la porta del tempio detta Bella, per chiedere l'elemosina a quelli che entravano nel tempio.
3 When this man saw Peter and John on their way into the Temple he begged from them.	3 Vedendo Pietro e Giovanni che stavano per entrare nel tempio, incominciò a chiedere loro l'elemosina.
4 Peter, and John too, looked straight at him and said, 'Look at us.'	4 Allora Pietro, fissandolo negli occhi con Giovanni, disse: "Guarda verso di noi".
5 He turned to them expectantly, hoping to get something from them,	5 Quello li guardò attentamente, attendendosi di ricevere da loro qualcosa.
6 but Peter said, 'I have neither silver nor gold, but I wil give you what I have: in the name of Jesus Christthe Nazarene, walk!'	6 Ma Pietro gli disse: "Argento e oro io non ho, ma quel che possiedo te lo do: nel nome di Gesù Cristo, il Nazareno, cammina!".
7 Then he took him by the right hand and helped him to stand up. Instantly his feet and ankles becamefirm,	7 E presolo per la mano destra lo sollevò: all'istante gli si rinvigorirono i piedi e le caviglie,
8 he jumped up, stood, and began to walk, and he went with them into the Temple, walking and jumpingand praising God.	8 con un balzo saltò in piedi e si mise a camminare ed entrò con essi nel tempio camminando, saltando e lodando Dio.
9 Everyone could see him walking and praising God,	9 E tutto il popolo lo vide che camminava e lodava Dio:
10 and they recognised him as the man who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple. Theywere all astonished and perplexed at what had happened to him.	10 e conoscevano che era proprio quello che stava seduto abitualmente presso la porta Bella del tempio a chiedere l'elemosina. Erano pieni di stupore e di meraviglia per ciò che gli era accaduto.
11 Everyone came running towards them in great excitement, to the Portico of Solomon, as it is called,where the man was stil clinging to Peter and John.	11 Poiché quegli si teneva stretto a Pietro e a Giovanni, tutto il popolo corse verso di loro sotto il portico detto di Salomone, con grande stupore.
12 When Peter saw the people he addressed them, 'Men of Israel, why are you so surprised at this? Whyare you staring at us as though we had made this man walk by our own power or holiness?	12 Pietro, vedendo ciò, prese a parlare al popolo: "Uomini d'Israele, perché vi meravigliate di questo fatto? Perché guardate verso di noi, come se per nostra forza o per nostra bontà avessimo fatto camminare quest'uomo?
13 It is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our ancestors, who has glorified his servantJesus whom you handed over and then disowned in the presence of Pilate after he had given his verdict torelease him.	13 Il Dio di Abramo, d'Isacco e di Giacobbe, il Dio dei nostri padri ha glorificato il suo servo Gesù, che voi avete consegnato e rinnegato davanti a Pilato, mentre egli aveva deciso di liberarlo.
14 It was you who accused the Holy and Upright One, you who demanded that a murderer should bereleased to you	14 Voi avete rinnegato il santo e il giusto, avete chiesto che vi fosse fatta grazia di un assassino
15 while you killed the prince of life. God, however, raised him from the dead, and to that fact we are witnesses;	15 e avete ucciso l'autore della vita. Ma Dio lo ha risuscitato dai morti e noi ne siamo testimoni.
16 and it is the name of Jesus which, through faith in him, has brought back the strength of this manwhom you see here and who is wel known to you. It is faith in him that has restored this man to health, as youcan al see.	16 E' per aver avuto fede in lui che quest'uomo, che voi vedete e conoscete, è stato risanato in virtù del suo nome. Sì, la fede, che è già suo dono, ha dato a costui la piena guarigione di fronte a tutti voi.
17 'Now I know, brothers, that neither you nor your leaders had any idea what you were real y doing;	17 Pertanto, fratelli, io so che lo avete fatto per ignoranza, come anche i vostri capi.
18 but this was the way God carried out what he had foretold, when he said through all his prophets thathis Christ would suffer.	18 Ma Dio ha così adempiuto ciò che egli aveva preannunciato per bocca di tutti i profeti, ossia che il suo Cristo avrebbe sofferto.
19 Now you must repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out,	19 Pentitevi dunque e convertitevi, perché siano cancellati i vostri peccati,
20 and so that the Lord may send the time of comfort. Then he wil send you the Christ he haspredestined, that is Jesus,	20 cosicché venga il tempo del refrigerio da parte del Signore ed egli mandi quel Gesù che è stato costituito vostro Messia.
21 whom heaven must keep til the universal restoration comes which God proclaimed, speaking throughhis holy prophets.	21 E' necessario che egli stia in cielo fino al momento della restaurazione di tutte le cose di cui Dio ha parlato fin dai tempi antichi per bocca dei suoi santi profeti.
22 Moses, for example, said, "From among your brothers the Lord God wil raise up for you a prophet likeme; you wil listen to whatever he tells you.	22 Mosè disse: Il Signore Dio vostro vi susciterà di tra i vostri fratelli un profeta come me: lo ascolterete in tutto ciò che vi dirà.
23 Anyone who refuses to listen to that prophet shal be cut off from the people."	23 E chiunque non avrà ascoltato quel profeta, sarà sterminato di mezzo al popolo.
24 In fact, al the prophets that have ever spoken, from Samuel onwards, have predicted these days.	24 E tutti i profeti, da Samuele in poi, tutti quanti hanno parlato, hanno anche preannunciato questi giorni.
25 'You are the heirs of the prophets, the heirs of the covenant God made with your ancestors when hetold Abraham, "Al the nations of the earth will be blessed in your descendants".	25 Voi siete i figli dei profeti e del patto che Dio ha concluso con i vostri padri, quando disse ad Abramo: Nella tua discendenza saranno benedette tutte le nazioni della terra.
26 It was for you in the first place that God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you as every one ofyou turns from his wicked ways.'	26 A voi per primi Dio, risuscitando il suo servo, lo ha inviato a benedirvi, per distogliere ciascuno dalle vostre malvagità".
