1 Once, when Peter and John were going up to the Temple for the prayers at the ninth hour,	1 Pierre et Jean montèrent un jour au Temple en milieu d’après-midi, à l’heure de la prière.
2 it happened that there was a man being carried along. He was a cripple from birth; and they used to puthim down every day near the Temple entrance cal ed the Beautiful Gate so that he could beg from the peoplegoing in.	2 On venait d’y amener un homme infirme de naissance. Chaque jour on le déposait à la Belle Porte, une des portes du Temple, et il demandait l’aumône à ceux qui franchissaient l’enceinte du Temple.
3 When this man saw Peter and John on their way into the Temple he begged from them.	3 Comme Pierre et Jean étaient sur le point d’entrer au Temple, il leur demanda l’aumône.
4 Peter, and John too, looked straight at him and said, 'Look at us.'	4 Alors Pierre le fixe du regard, tout comme Jean, et il lui dit: "Regarde-nous!”
5 He turned to them expectantly, hoping to get something from them,	5 L’homme ne les lâchait pas du regard, car il s’attendait à recevoir quelque chose.
6 but Peter said, 'I have neither silver nor gold, but I wil give you what I have: in the name of Jesus Christthe Nazarene, walk!'	6 Mais Pierre lui dit: "Je n’ai ni or ni argent, je te donnerai ce que j’ai: au nom du Messie, Jésus de Nazareth, lève-toi et marche!”
7 Then he took him by the right hand and helped him to stand up. Instantly his feet and ankles becamefirm,	7 Pierre le prend de la main et le met debout: l’autre aussitôt sent que ses pieds et ses chevilles deviennent fermes.
8 he jumped up, stood, and began to walk, and he went with them into the Temple, walking and jumpingand praising God.	8 Il saute, se met sur ses pieds et commence à marcher, puis il entre au Temple avec eux, marchant, sautant et rendant grâces à Dieu.
9 Everyone could see him walking and praising God,	9 Tout le monde le voit marcher et rendre grâces à Dieu,
10 and they recognised him as the man who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple. Theywere all astonished and perplexed at what had happened to him.	10 et alors on le reconnaît: "C’est lui le mendiant de la Belle Porte du Temple!” Cela produisit un vrai choc: tous étaient stupéfaits de ce qui venait de lui arriver.
11 Everyone came running towards them in great excitement, to the Portico of Solomon, as it is called,where the man was stil clinging to Peter and John.	11 L’homme ne quittait pas Pierre et Jean, si bien que tout le peuple accourut et se retrouva autour d’eux au Portique de Salomon, incapable de dire un mot.
12 When Peter saw the people he addressed them, 'Men of Israel, why are you so surprised at this? Whyare you staring at us as though we had made this man walk by our own power or holiness?	12 Alors Pierre s’adressa au peuple: "Hommes d’Israël, cela vous étonne? Vous nous regardez comme si nous avions un pouvoir pour faire marcher cet homme, ou comme si nous étions des saints.
13 It is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our ancestors, who has glorified his servantJesus whom you handed over and then disowned in the presence of Pilate after he had given his verdict torelease him.	13 “Mais non, c’est le Dieu d’Abraham, d’Isaac et de Jacob qui vient de glorifier Jésus, son serviteur. Vous l’avez livré, et quand Pilate voulait le relâcher, vous l’avez renié.
14 It was you who accused the Holy and Upright One, you who demanded that a murderer should bereleased to you	14 Vous avez demandé la grâce d’un assassin et vous avez renié le juste, le saint.
15 while you killed the prince of life. God, however, raised him from the dead, and to that fact we are witnesses;	15 Celui que vous avez tué était le Prince de la vie, et Dieu l’a relevé d’entre les morts: nous en sommes les témoins.
16 and it is the name of Jesus which, through faith in him, has brought back the strength of this manwhom you see here and who is wel known to you. It is faith in him that has restored this man to health, as youcan al see.	16 Voyez ce que peut la foi en son Nom: son Nom vient de remettre sur pied cet homme que vous voyez et que vous connaissez. La foi qui s’appuie sur Jésus lui a rendu la santé sous vos yeux à tous.
17 'Now I know, brothers, that neither you nor your leaders had any idea what you were real y doing;	17 “Maintenant, frères, je sais que vous avez agi par ignorance, tout comme vos chefs,
18 but this was the way God carried out what he had foretold, when he said through all his prophets thathis Christ would suffer.	18 et c’est ainsi que Dieu a accompli ce qu’il disait par la bouche de tous les prophètes, que son Messie devait souffrir.
19 Now you must repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out,	19 Il faut donc vous repentir et vous convertir pour que vos péchés soient effacés.
20 and so that the Lord may send the time of comfort. Then he wil send you the Christ he haspredestined, that is Jesus,	20 Alors le Seigneur fera venir des temps meilleurs et il vous enverra ce Messie qui vous est destiné: Jésus lui-même.
21 whom heaven must keep til the universal restoration comes which God proclaimed, speaking throughhis holy prophets.	21 Car le ciel va le garder jusqu’au moment où l’univers sera restauré, comme Dieu l’a annoncé dans le passé par la bouche de ses saints prophètes.
22 Moses, for example, said, "From among your brothers the Lord God wil raise up for you a prophet likeme; you wil listen to whatever he tells you.	22 “Moïse a dit: Le Seigneur votre Dieu fera surgir d’entre vos frères un prophète comme moi; vous l’écouterez, vous ferez tout ce qu’il vous dira.
23 Anyone who refuses to listen to that prophet shal be cut off from the people."	23 Si quelqu’un n’écoute pas ce prophète, il sera retranché du peuple.
24 In fact, al the prophets that have ever spoken, from Samuel onwards, have predicted these days.	24 Et à la suite de Moïse, tous les prophètes qui ont parlé, en commençant par Samuel, ont annoncé les jours présents.
25 'You are the heirs of the prophets, the heirs of the covenant God made with your ancestors when hetold Abraham, "Al the nations of the earth will be blessed in your descendants".	25 “N’êtes-vous pas les héritiers des prophètes, le peuple de l’Alliance que Dieu a faite avec vos pères? Il a bien dit à Abraham: Toutes les familles humaines seront bénies à travers ta descendance.
26 It was for you in the first place that God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you as every one ofyou turns from his wicked ways.'	26 C’est donc pour vous d’abord que Dieu a ressuscité son Serviteur. Il l’a envoyé pour vous donner la bénédiction dès le moment où chacun de vous se détournera de sa vie mauvaise.”
