NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Once, when Peter and John were going up to the Temple for the prayers at the ninth hour,	1 Pierre et Jean montaient au Temple pour la prière de la neuvième heure.
2 it happened that there was a man being carried along. He was a cripple from birth; and they used to puthim down every day near the Temple entrance cal ed the Beautiful Gate so that he could beg from the peoplegoing in.	2 Or on apportait un impotent de naissance qu'on déposait tous les jours à la porte du Temple appelée laBelle, pour demander l'aumône à ceux qui y entraient.
3 When this man saw Peter and John on their way into the Temple he begged from them.	3 Voyant Pierre et Jean sur le point de pénétrer dans le Temple, il leur demanda l'aumône.
4 Peter, and John too, looked straight at him and said, 'Look at us.'	4 Alors Pierre fixa les yeux sur lui, ainsi que Jean, et dit: "Regarde-nous."
5 He turned to them expectantly, hoping to get something from them,	5 Il tenait son regard attaché sur eux, s'attendant à en recevoir quelque chose.
6 but Peter said, 'I have neither silver nor gold, but I wil give you what I have: in the name of Jesus Christthe Nazarene, walk!'	6 Mais Pierre dit: "De l'argent et de l'or, je n'en ai pas, mais ce que j'ai, je te le donne: au nom de JésusChrist le Nazôréen, marche!"
7 Then he took him by the right hand and helped him to stand up. Instantly his feet and ankles becamefirm,	7 Et le saisissant par la main droite, il le releva. A l'instant ses pieds et ses chevilles s'affermirent;
8 he jumped up, stood, and began to walk, and he went with them into the Temple, walking and jumpingand praising God.	8 d'un bond il fut debout, et le voilà qui marchait. Il entra avec eux dans le Temple, marchant,gambadant et louant Dieu.
9 Everyone could see him walking and praising God,	9 Tout le peuple le vit marcher et louer Dieu;
10 and they recognised him as the man who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple. Theywere all astonished and perplexed at what had happened to him.	10 on le reconnaissait: c'était bien lui qui demandait l'aumône, assis à la Belle Porte du Temple. Et l'onfut rempli d'effroi et de stupeur au sujet de ce qui lui était arrivé.
11 Everyone came running towards them in great excitement, to the Portico of Solomon, as it is called,where the man was stil clinging to Peter and John.	11 Comme il ne lâchait pas Pierre et Jean, tous, hors d'eux-mêmes, accoururent vers eux au portique ditde Salomon.
12 When Peter saw the people he addressed them, 'Men of Israel, why are you so surprised at this? Whyare you staring at us as though we had made this man walk by our own power or holiness?	12 A cette vue, Pierre s'adressa au peuple: "Hommes d'Israël, pourquoi vous étonner de cela? Qu'avez-vous à nous regarder, comme si c'était par notre propre puissance ou grâce à notre piété que nous avons faitmarcher cet homme?
13 It is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our ancestors, who has glorified his servantJesus whom you handed over and then disowned in the presence of Pilate after he had given his verdict torelease him.	13 Le Dieu d'Abraham, d'Isaac et de Jacob, le Dieu de nos pères a glorifié son serviteur Jésus que vous,vous avez livré et que vous avez renié devant Pilate, alors qu'il était décidé à le relâcher.
14 It was you who accused the Holy and Upright One, you who demanded that a murderer should bereleased to you	14 Mais vous, vous avez chargé le Saint et le juste; vous avez réclamé la grâce d'un assassin,
15 while you killed the prince of life. God, however, raised him from the dead, and to that fact we are witnesses;	15 tandis que vous faisiez mourir le prince de la vie. Dieu l'a ressuscité des morts: nous en sommestémoins.
16 and it is the name of Jesus which, through faith in him, has brought back the strength of this manwhom you see here and who is wel known to you. It is faith in him that has restored this man to health, as youcan al see.	16 Et par la foi en son nom, à cet homme que vous voyez et connaissez, ce nom même a rendu la force,et c'est la foi en lui qui, devant vous tous, l'a rétabli en pleine santé.
17 'Now I know, brothers, that neither you nor your leaders had any idea what you were real y doing;	17 "Cependant, frères, je sais que c'est par ignorance que vous avez agi, ainsi d'ailleurs que vos chefs.
18 but this was the way God carried out what he had foretold, when he said through all his prophets thathis Christ would suffer.	18 Dieu, lui, a ainsi accompli ce qu'il avait annoncé d'avance par la bouche de tous les prophètes, queson Christ souffrirait.
19 Now you must repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out,	19 Repentez-vous donc et convertissez-vous, afin que vos péchés soient effacés,
20 and so that the Lord may send the time of comfort. Then he wil send you the Christ he haspredestined, that is Jesus,	20 et qu'ainsi le Seigneur fasse venir le temps du répit. Il enverra alors le Christ qui vous a été destiné,Jésus,
21 whom heaven must keep til the universal restoration comes which God proclaimed, speaking throughhis holy prophets.	21 celui que le ciel doit garder jusqu'aux temps de la restauration universelle dont Dieu a parlé par labouche de ses saints prophètes.
22 Moses, for example, said, "From among your brothers the Lord God wil raise up for you a prophet likeme; you wil listen to whatever he tells you.	22 Moïse, d'abord, a dit: Le Seigneur Dieu vous suscitera d'entre vos frères un prophète semblable àmoi; vous l'écouterez en tout ce qu'il vous dira.
23 Anyone who refuses to listen to that prophet shal be cut off from the people."	23 Quiconque n'écoutera pas ce prophète sera exterminé du sein du peuple.
24 In fact, al the prophets that have ever spoken, from Samuel onwards, have predicted these days.	24 Tous les prophètes, ensuite, qui ont parlé depuis Samuel et ses successeurs, ont pareillement annoncéces jours-ci.
25 'You are the heirs of the prophets, the heirs of the covenant God made with your ancestors when hetold Abraham, "Al the nations of the earth will be blessed in your descendants".	25 "Vous êtes, vous, les fils des prophètes et de l'alliance que Dieu a conclue avec nos pères quand il adit à Abraham: Et en ta postérité seront bénies toutes les familles de la terre.
26 It was for you in the first place that God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you as every one ofyou turns from his wicked ways.'	26 C'est pour vous d'abord que Dieu a ressuscité son Serviteur et l'a envoyé vous bénir, du moment quechacun de vous se détourne de ses perversités."
