NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Once, when Peter and John were going up to the Temple for the prayers at the ninth hour,	1 En una ocasión, Pedro y Juan subían al Templo para la oración de la tarde.
2 it happened that there was a man being carried along. He was a cripple from birth; and they used to puthim down every day near the Temple entrance cal ed the Beautiful Gate so that he could beg from the peoplegoing in.	2 Allí encontraron a un paralítico de nacimiento, que ponían diariamente junto a la puerta del Templo llamada «la Hermosa», para pedir limosna a los que entraban.
3 When this man saw Peter and John on their way into the Temple he begged from them.	3 Cuando él vio a Pedro y a Juan entrar en el Templo, les pidió una limosna.
4 Peter, and John too, looked straight at him and said, 'Look at us.'	4 Entonces Pedro, fijando la mirada en él, lo mismo que Juan, le dijo: «Míranos».
5 He turned to them expectantly, hoping to get something from them,	5 El hombre los miró fijamente esperando que le dieran algo.
6 but Peter said, 'I have neither silver nor gold, but I wil give you what I have: in the name of Jesus Christthe Nazarene, walk!'	6 Pedro le dijo: «No tengo plata ni oro, pero te doy lo que tengo: en el nombre de Jesucristo de Nazaret, levántate y camina».
7 Then he took him by the right hand and helped him to stand up. Instantly his feet and ankles becamefirm,	7 Y tomándolo de la mano derecha, lo levantó; de inmediato, se le fortalecieron los pies y los tobillos.
8 he jumped up, stood, and began to walk, and he went with them into the Temple, walking and jumpingand praising God.	8 Dando un salto, se puso de pie y comenzó a caminar; y entró con ellos en el Templo, caminando, saltando y glorificando a Dios.
9 Everyone could see him walking and praising God,	9 Toda la gente lo vio caminar y alabar a Dios.
10 and they recognised him as the man who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple. Theywere all astonished and perplexed at what had happened to him.	10 Reconocieron que era el mendigo que pedía limosna sentado a la puerta del Templo llamada «la Hermosa», y quedaron asombrados y llenos de admiración por lo que le había sucedido.
11 Everyone came running towards them in great excitement, to the Portico of Solomon, as it is called,where the man was stil clinging to Peter and John.	11 Como él no soltaba a Pedro y a Juan, todo el pueblo, lleno de asombro, corrió hacia ellos, que estaban en el pórtico de Salomón.
12 When Peter saw the people he addressed them, 'Men of Israel, why are you so surprised at this? Whyare you staring at us as though we had made this man walk by our own power or holiness?	12 Al ver esto, Pedro dijo al pueblo: «Israelitas, ¿de qué se asombran? ¿Por qué nos miran así, como si fuera por nuestro poder o por nuestra santidad, que hemos hecho caminar a este hombre?
13 It is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our ancestors, who has glorified his servantJesus whom you handed over and then disowned in the presence of Pilate after he had given his verdict torelease him.	13 El Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob, el Dios de nuestros padres, glorificó a su servidor Jesús, a quien ustedes entregaron, renegando de él delante de Pilato, cuando este había resuelto ponerlo en libertad.
14 It was you who accused the Holy and Upright One, you who demanded that a murderer should bereleased to you	14 Ustedes renegaron del Santo y del Justo, y pidiendo como una gracia la liberación de un homicida,
15 while you killed the prince of life. God, however, raised him from the dead, and to that fact we are witnesses;	15 mataron al autor de la vida. Pero Dios lo resucitó de entre los muertos, de lo cual nosotros somos testigos.
16 and it is the name of Jesus which, through faith in him, has brought back the strength of this manwhom you see here and who is wel known to you. It is faith in him that has restored this man to health, as youcan al see.	16 Por haber creído en su Nombre, ese mismo Nombre ha devuelto la fuerza al que ustedes ven y conocen. Esta fe que proviene de él, es la que lo ha curado completamente, como ustedes pueden comprobar.
17 'Now I know, brothers, that neither you nor your leaders had any idea what you were real y doing;	17 Ahora bien, hermanos, yo sé que ustedes obraron por ignorancia, lo mismo que sus jefes.
18 but this was the way God carried out what he had foretold, when he said through all his prophets thathis Christ would suffer.	18 Pero así, Dios cumplió lo que había anunciado por medio de todos los profetas: que su Mesías debía padecer.
19 Now you must repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out,	19 Por lo tanto, hagan penitencia y conviértanse, para que sus pecados sean perdonados.
20 and so that the Lord may send the time of comfort. Then he wil send you the Christ he haspredestined, that is Jesus,	20 Así el Señor les concederá el tiempo del consuelo y enviará a Jesús, el Mesías destinado para ustedes.
21 whom heaven must keep til the universal restoration comes which God proclaimed, speaking throughhis holy prophets.	21 El debe permanecer en el cielo hasta el momento de la restauración universal, que Dios anunció antiguamente por medio de sus santos profetas.
22 Moses, for example, said, "From among your brothers the Lord God wil raise up for you a prophet likeme; you wil listen to whatever he tells you.	22 Moisés, en efecto, dijo: "El Señor Dios suscitará para ustedes, de entre sus hermanos, un profeta semejante a mí, y ustedes obedecerán a todo lo que él les diga.
23 Anyone who refuses to listen to that prophet shal be cut off from the people."	23 El que no escuche a ese profeta será excluido del pueblo".
24 In fact, al the prophets that have ever spoken, from Samuel onwards, have predicted these days.	24 Y todos los profetas que ha hablado a partir de Samuel, anunciaron también estos días.
25 'You are the heirs of the prophets, the heirs of the covenant God made with your ancestors when hetold Abraham, "Al the nations of the earth will be blessed in your descendants".	25 Ustedes son los herederos de los profetas y de la Alianza que Dios hizo con sus antepasados, cuando dijo a Abraham: "En tu descendencia serán bendecidos todos los pueblos de la tierra".
26 It was for you in the first place that God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you as every one ofyou turns from his wicked ways.'	26 Ante todo para ustedes Dios resucitó a su Servidor, y lo envió para bendecirlos y para que cada uno se aparte de sus iniquidades».
