NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 After this Paul left Athens and went to Corinth,	1 ORA, dopo queste cose, Paolo si partì d’Atene, e venne in Corinto.
2 where he met a Jew called Aquila whose family came from Pontus. He and his wife Priscil a hadrecently left Italy because an edict of Claudius had expel ed al the Jews from Rome. Paul went to visit them,	2 E, trovato un certo Giudeo, chiamato per nome Aquila, di nazione Pontico, nuovamente venuto d’Italia, insieme con Priscilla, sua moglie perciocchè Claudio avea comandato che tutti i Giudei si partissero di Roma, si accostò a loro.
3 and when he found they were tentmakers, of the same trade as himself, he lodged with them, and theyworked together.	3 E perciocchè egli era della medesima arte, dimorava in casa loro, e lavorava; perciocchè l’arte loro era di far padiglioni.
4 Every Sabbath he used to hold debates in the synagogues, trying to convert Jews as wel as Greeks.	4 Ed ogni sabato faceva un sermone nella sinagoga, e induceva alla fede Giudei e Greci.
5 After Silas and Timothy had arrived from Macedonia, Paul devoted al his time to preaching, declaringto the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.	5 Ora, quando Sila e Timoteo furon venuti di Macedonia, Paolo era sospinto dallo Spirito, testificando a’ Giudei che Gesù è il Cristo.
6 When they turned against him and started to insult him, he took his cloak and shook it out in front ofthem, saying, 'Your blood be on your own heads; from now on I wil go to the gentiles with a clear conscience.'	6 Ma, contrastando eglino, e bestemmiando, egli scosse i suoi vestimenti, e disse loro: Il sangue vostro sia sopra il vostro capo, io ne son netto; da ora innanzi io andrò a’ Gentili
7 Then he left the synagogue and moved to the house next door that belonged to a worshipper of Godcal ed Justus.	7 E partitosi di là, entrò in casa d’un certo chiamato per nome Giusto, il qual serviva a Dio; la cui casa era contigua alla sinagoga.
8 Crispus, president of the synagogue, and his whole household, al became believers in the Lord. ManyCorinthians when they heard this became believers and were baptised.	8 Or Crispo, capo della sinagoga, credette al Signore, con tutta la sua famiglia; molti ancora de’ Corinti, udendo Paolo, credevano, ed erano battezzati.
9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision, 'Be fearless; speak out and do not keep silence:	9 E il Signore disse di notte in visione a Paolo: Non temere; ma parla, e non tacere.
10 I am with you. I have so many people that belong to me in this city that no one wil attempt to hurtyou.'	10 Perciocchè io son teco, e niuno metterà le mani sopra te, per offenderti; poichè io ho un gran popolo in questa città.
11 So Paul stayed there preaching the word of God among them for eighteen months.	11 Egli adunque dimorò quivi un anno, e sei mesi, insegnando fra loro la parola di Dio
12 But while Gal io was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a concerted attack on Paul and brought himbefore the tribunal, saying,	12 Poi, quando Gallione fu proconsolo d’Acaia, i Giudei di pari consentimento si levarono contro a Paolo, e lo menarono al tribunale, dicendo:
13 'We accuse this man of persuading people to worship God in a way that breaks the Law.'	13 Costui persuade agli uomini di servire a Dio contro alla legge.
14 Before Paul could open his mouth, Gal io said to the Jews, 'Listen, you Jews. If this were amisdemeanour or a crime, it would be in order for me to listen to your plea;	14 E come Paolo era per aprir la bocca, Gallione disse a’ Giudei: Se si trattasse di alcuna ingiustizia o misfatto, o Giudei, io vi udirei pazientemente, secondo la ragione.
15 but if it is only quibbles about words and names, and about your own Law, then you must deal with ityourselves -- I have no intention of making legal decisions about these things.'	15 Ma, se la quistione è intorno a parole, e a nomi, e alla vostra legge, provvedeteci voi; perciocchè io non voglio esser giudice di coteste cose.
16 Then he began to hustle them out of the court,	16 E li scacciò dal tribunale.
17 and at once they all turned on Sosthenes, the synagogue president, and beat him in front of thetribunal. Gal io refused to take any notice at al .	17 E tutti i Greci presero Sostene, capo della sinagoga, e lo battevano davanti al tribunale; e Gallione niente si curava di queste cose
18 After staying on for some time, Paul took leave of the brothers and sailed for Syria, accompanied byPriscil a and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had his hair cut off, because of a vow he had made.	18 Ora, quando Paolo fu dimorato quivi ancora molti giorni, prese commiato dai fratelli, e navigò in Siria, con Priscilla, ed Aquila; essendosi fatto tondere il capo in Cencrea, perciocchè avea voto.
19 When they reached Ephesus, he left them, but first he went alone to the synagogue to debate with theJews.	19 Ed essendo giunto in Efeso, li lasciò quivi. Or egli entrò nella sinagoga, e fece un sermone a’ Giudei.
20 They asked him to stay longer, but he declined,	20 Ed essi lo pregavano di dimorare appresso di loro più lungo tempo; ma egli non acconsentì;
21 though when he took his leave he said, 'I wil come back another time, God wil ing.' Then he sailedfrom Ephesus.	21 anzi prese commiato da loro, dicendo: Del tutto mi conviene far la festa prossima in Gerusalemme; ma io ritornerò ancora a voi, se piace a Dio. Così si partì per mare da Efeso.
22 He landed at Caesarea and went up to greet the church. Then he came down to Antioch	22 Ed essendo disceso in Cesarea, salì in Gerusalemme; poi, dopo aver salutata la chiesa, scese in Antiochia.
23 where he spent a short time before continuing his journey through the Galatian country and thenthrough Phrygia, encouraging al the followers.	23 Ed essendo quivi dimorato alquanto tempo, si partì, andando attorno di luogo in luogo per lo paese di Galazia, e di Frigia, confermando tutti i discepoli
24 An Alexandrian Jew named Apol os now arrived in Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, with a soundknowledge of the scriptures, and yet,	24 OR un certo Giudeo, il cui nome era Apollo, di nazione Alessandrino, uomo eloquente, e potente nelle scritture, arrivò in Efeso.
25 though he had been given instruction in the Way of the Lord and preached with great spiritual fervourand was accurate in al the details he taught about Jesus, he had experienced only the baptism of John.	25 Costui era ammaestrato ne’ principii della via del Signore; e, fervente di spirito, parlava, ed insegnava diligentemente le cose del Signore, avendo sol conoscenza del battesimo di Giovanni.
26 He began to teach fearlessly in the synagogue and, when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, theyattached themselves to him and gave him more detailed instruction about the Way.	26 E prese a parlar francamente nella sinagoga. Ed Aquila, e Priscilla, uditolo, lo presero con loro, e gli esposero più appieno la via di Dio.
27 When Apol os thought of crossing over to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote asking thedisciples to welcome him. When he arrived there he was able by God's grace to help the believers considerably	27 Poi, volendo egli passare in Acaia, i fratelli vel confortarono, e scrissero ai discepoli che l’accogliessero. Ed egli, essendo giunto là, conferì molto a coloro che avean creduto per la grazia.
28 by the energetic way he refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating from the scriptures that Jesus wasthe Christ.	28 Perciocchè con grande sforzo convinceva pubblicamente i Giudei, dimostrando per le scritture che Gesù è il Cristo
