NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 After this Paul left Athens and went to Corinth,	1 Después de esto, Pablo dejó Atenas y fue a Corinto.
2 where he met a Jew called Aquila whose family came from Pontus. He and his wife Priscil a hadrecently left Italy because an edict of Claudius had expel ed al the Jews from Rome. Paul went to visit them,	2 Allí encontró a un judío llamado Aquila, originario del Ponto, que acababa de llegar de Italia con su mujer Priscila, a raíz de un edicto de Claudio que obligaba a todos los judíos a salir de Roma. 3 and when he found they were tentmakers, of the same trade as himself, he lodged with them, and theyworked together.	3 y como ejercía el mismo oficio, se alojó en su casa y trabajaba con ellos haciendo tiendas de campaña.
4 Every Sabbath he used to hold debates in the synagogues, trying to convert Jews as wel as Greeks.	4 Todos los sábados, Pablo discutía en la sinagoga y trataba de persuadir tanto a los judíos como a los paganos.
5 After Silas and Timothy had arrived from Macedonia, Paul devoted al his time to preaching, declaringto the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.	5 Cuando Silas y Timoteo llegaron a Macedonia, Pablo se dedicó por entero a la predicación de la Palabra, dando testimonio a los judíos de que Jesús es el Mesías.
6 When they turned against him and started to insult him, he took his cloak and shook it out in front ofthem, saying, 'Your blood be on your own heads; from now on I wil go to the gentiles with a clear conscience.'	6 Pero como ellos lo contradecían y lo injuriaban, sacudió su manto en señal de protesta, diciendo: «Que la sangre de ustedes caiga sobre sus cabezas. Yo soy inocente de eso; en adelante me dedicaré a los paganos».
7 Then he left the synagogue and moved to the house next door that belonged to a worshipper of Godcal ed Justus.	7 Entonces, alejándose de allí, fue a lo de un tal Ticio Justo, uno de los que adoraban a Dios y cuya casa lindaba con la sinagoga.
8 Crispus, president of the synagogue, and his whole household, al became believers in the Lord. ManyCorinthians when they heard this became believers and were baptised.	8 Crispo, el jefe de la sinagoga, creyó en el Señor, junto con toda su familia. También muchos habitantes de Corinto, que habían escuchado a Pablo, abrazaron la fe y se hicieron bautizar.
9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision, 'Be fearless; speak out and do not keep silence:	9 Una noche, el Señor dijo a Pablo en una visión: «No temas. Sigue predicando y no te calles.
10 I am with you. I have so many people that belong to me in this city that no one wil attempt to hurtyou.'	10 Yo estoy contigo. Nadir pondrá la mano sobre ti para dañarte, porque en esta ciudad hay un pueblo numeroso que me está reservado».
11 So Paul stayed there preaching the word of God among them for eighteen months.	11 Pablo se radicó allí un año y medio, enseñando la Palabra de Dios.
12 But while Gal io was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a concerted attack on Paul and brought himbefore the tribunal, saying,	12 Durante el gobierno del procónsul Galión en Acaya, los judíos se confabularon contra Pablo y lo condujeron ante el tribunal,
13 'We accuse this man of persuading people to worship God in a way that breaks the Law.'	13 diciendo: «Este hombre induce a la gente a que adore a Dios de una manera contraria a la Ley».
14 Before Paul could open his mouth, Gal io said to the Jews, 'Listen, you Jews. If this were amisdemeanour or a crime, it would be in order for me to listen to your plea;	14 Pablo estaba por hablar, cuando Galión dijo a los judíos: «Si se tratara de algún crimen o de algún delito grave, sería razonable que los atendiera.
15 but if it is only quibbles about words and names, and about your own Law, then you must deal with ityourselves -- I have no intention of making legal decisions about these things.'	15 Pero tratándose de discusiones sobre palabras y nombres, y sobre la Ley judía, el asunto les concierne a ustedes; yo no quiero ser juez en estas cosas».
16 Then he began to hustle them out of the court,	16 Y los hizo salir del tribunal.
17 and at once they all turned on Sosthenes, the synagogue president, and beat him in front of thetribunal. Gal io refused to take any notice at al .	17 Entonces todos se apoderaron de Sóstenes, el jefe de la sinagoga, y lo golpearon ante el tribunal. Pero a Galión todo esto lo tuvo sin cuidado.
18 After staying on for some time, Paul took leave of the brothers and sailed for Syria, accompanied byPriscil a and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had his hair cut off, because of a vow he had made.	18 Pablo permaneció todavía un cierto tiempo en Corinto. Después se despidió de sus hermanos y se embarcó hacia Siria en compañía de Priscila y de Aquila. En Cencreas, a raíz de un voto que había hecho, se hizo cortar el cabello.
19 When they reached Ephesus, he left them, but first he went alone to the synagogue to debate with theJews.	19 Cuando llegaron a Efeso, Pablo se separó de sus compañeros para ir a la sinagoga y dialogar con los judíos.
20 They asked him to stay longer, but he declined,	20 Estos le rogaron que se quedara más tiempo, pero Pablo no accedió,
21 though when he took his leave he said, 'I wil come back another time, God wil ing.' Then he sailedfrom Ephesus.	21 sino que se despidió de ellos, diciéndoles: «Volveré otra vez, si Dios quiere». Y partió de Efeso.
22 He landed at Caesarea and went up to greet the church. Then he came down to Antioch	22 Desembarcó en Cesarea, subió para saludar la Iglesia y luego descendió a Antioquía.
23 where he spent a short time before continuing his journey through the Galatian country and thenthrough Phrygia, encouraging al the followers.	23 Después de haber permanecido un tiempo allí, partió de nuevo y recorrió sucesivamente la región de Galacia y la Frigia, animando a todos los discípulos.
24 An Alexandrian Jew named Apol os now arrived in Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, with a soundknowledge of the scriptures, and yet,	24 Un judío llamado Apolo, originario de Alejandría, había llegado a Efeso. Era un hombre elocuente y versado en las Escrituras.
25 though he had been given instruction in the Way of the Lord and preached with great spiritual fervourand was accurate in al the details he taught about Jesus, he had experienced only the baptism of John.	25 Había sido iniciado en el Camino del Señor y, lleno de fervor, exponía y enseñaba con precisión lo que se refiere a Jesús, aunque no conocía otro bautismo más que el de Juan.
26 He began to teach fearlessly in the synagogue and, when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, theyattached themselves to him and gave him more detailed instruction about the Way.	26 Comenzó a hablar con decisión en la sinagoga. 27 When Apol os thought of crossing over to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote asking thedisciples to welcome him. 28 by the energetic way he refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating from the scriptures that Jesus wasthe Christ.	28 porque refutaba vigorosamente a los judíos en público, demostrando por medio de las Escrituras que Jesús es el Mesías.
