Acts of the Apostles 13

1 In the church at Antioch the following were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon cal ed Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen, who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.	1 Az antióchiai egyházban több próféta és tanító is volt, köztük Barnabás és Simon, akit Nigernek neveztek, a cirenei Lúciusz, továbbá Manaén, Heródes negyedes fejedelem tejtestvére és Saul.
2 One day while they were offering worship to the Lord and keeping a fast, the Holy Spirit said, 'I wantBarnabas and Saul set apart for the work to which I have cal ed them.'	2 Miközben ezek az Úr szolgálatát végezték és böjtöltek, a Szentlélek azt mondta nekik: »Különítsétek el nekem Sault és Barnabást a munkára, amelyre meghívtam őket!«
3 So it was that after fasting and prayer they laid their hands on them and sent them off.	3 Erre böjtöt tartottak, imádkoztak, rájuk tették kezüket, azután útnak indították őket.
4 So these two, sent on their mission by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and from there set sail forCyprus.	4 Ők tehát a Szentlélektől küldve lementek Szeleukiába, onnan pedig Ciprusba hajóztak.
5 They landed at Salamis and proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews; John acted astheir assistant.	5 Eljutottak Szalamiszba, és hirdették Isten igéjét a zsidók zsinagógáiban. János is a szolgálatukban volt.
6 They travel ed the whole length of the island, and at Paphos they came in contact with a Jewishmagician and false prophet cal ed Bar-Jesus.	6 Amikor bejárták Páfoszig az egész szigetet, találtak egy Barjézus nevű zsidó férfit, aki varázsló és hamis próféta volt.
7 He was one of the attendants of the proconsul Sergius Paulus, who was an extremely intelligent man.The proconsul summoned Barnabas and Saul and asked to hear the word of God,	7 Szergiusz Paulusz prokonzullal, egy bölcs férfival volt, aki magához hívatta Barnabást és Sault, mert hallani kívánta Isten igéjét.
8 but Elymas the magician (this is what his name means in Greek) tried to stop them so as to prevent theproconsul's conversion to the faith.	8 Elimász azonban, a varázsló – a neve ugyanis ezt jelenti –, akadékoskodott, s igyekezett eltéríteni a helytartót a hittől.
9 Then Saul, whose other name is Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked at him intently	9 De Saul, akit Pálnak is neveznek, Szentlélekkel eltelve ránézett,
10 and said, 'You utter fraud, you impostor, you son of the devil, you enemy of al uprightness, will younot stop twisting the straightforward ways of the Lord?	10 és így szólt: »Te minden csalárdsággal és álnoksággal teljes ördögfia, minden igazságosságnak ellensége, nem szűnsz meg az Úr egyenes útjait megrontani?
11 Now watch how the hand of the Lord wil strike you: you wil be blind, and for a time you wil not seethe sun.' That instant, everything went misty and dark for him, and he groped about to find someone to lead himby the hand.	11 Íme, ezért az Úr keze most rajtad van, megvakulsz, s egy ideig nem látod a napvilágot.« Rögtön homály és sötétség szakadt rá, és körbe járva kereste, hogy valaki kezét nyújtsa neki.
12 The proconsul, who had watched everything, became a believer, being much struck by what he hadlearnt about the Lord.	12 Erre a prokonzul hitt, mivel látta, hogy mi történt, és csodálkozott az Úr tanításán.
13 Paul and his companions went by sea from Paphos to Perga in Pamphylia where John left them to goback to Jerusalem.	13 Azután Pál, és akik vele voltak, elhajóztak Páfoszból, és a pamfíliai Pergébe jutottak. János azonban elvált tőlük és visszatért Jeruzsálembe.
14 The others carried on from Perga til they reached Antioch in Pisidia. Here they went to synagogue onthe Sabbath and took their seats.	14 Ők pedig átmentek Pergén, s a pizídiai Antióchiába érkeztek. Szombaton bementek a zsinagógába és leültek.
15 After the passages from the Law and the Prophets had been read, the presidents of the synagoguesent them a message, 'Brothers, if you would like to address some words of encouragement to the congregation,please do so.'	15 A törvényből és a prófétákból való felolvasás után a zsinagóga elöljárói hozzájuk küldtek ezzel az üzenettel: »Férfiak, testvérek, ha van valami intelmetek a nép számára, mondjátok el!«
16 Paul stood up, raised his hand for silence and began to speak: 'Men of Israel, and fearers of God,listen!	16 Pál felemelkedett tehát, s a kezével csendet intve megszólalt: »Izraelita férfiak, és ti istenfélők, halljátok!
17 The God of our nation Israel chose our ancestors and made our people great when they were living inEgypt, a land not their own; then by divine power he led them out	17 Izrael népének Istene kiválasztotta atyáinkat és naggyá tette a népet, amikor Egyiptom földjén jövevények voltak. Azután hatalmas karral kivezette őket onnan,
18 and for about forty years took care of them in the desert.	18 és negyven esztendeig tűrte viselkedésüket a pusztában,
19 When he had destroyed seven nations in Canaan, he put them in possession of their land	19 majd Kánaán földjén hét népet elpusztított, és sorsolással felosztotta nekik azoknak a földjét ,
20 for about four hundred and fifty years. After this he gave them judges, down to the prophet Samuel.	20 mintegy négyszázötven évre. Azután bírákat adott nekik Sámuel prófétáig.
21 Then they demanded a king, and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin.After forty years,	21 Ettől fogva királyt kívántak, és Isten negyven esztendőre Sault adta nekik, Kís fiát, a Benjamin törzséből való férfit.
22 he deposed him and raised up David to be king, whom he attested in these words, "I have foundDavid son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, who wil perform my entire wil ."	22 Ennek elvetése után Dávid királyt támasztotta nekik, aki mellett tanúságot is tett, mondván: ‘Szívem szerint való férfit találtam, Jessze fiát, Dávidot, aki megteszi majd minden akaratomat’ .
23 To keep his promise, God has raised up for Israel one of David's descendants, Jesus, as Saviour,	23 Az ő ivadékából támasztotta Isten az ígéret szerint Izrael üdvözítőjét, Jézust,
24 whose coming was heralded by John when he proclaimed a baptism of repentance for the wholepeople of Israel.	24 akinek eljövetele előtt János a bűnbánat keresztségét hirdette Izrael egész népének .
25 Before John ended his course he said, "I am not the one you imagine me to be; there is someonecoming after me whose sandal I am not fit to undo."	25 Mikor pedig János bevégezte pályafutását, azt mondta: ‘Nem az vagyok, akinek tartotok engem; íme, utánam jön, akinek a lábáról a saruit sem vagyok méltó megoldani.’
26 'My brothers, sons of Abraham's race, and al you godfearers, this message of salvation is meant foryou.	26 Férfiak, testvérek! Ábrahám nemzetének fiai és a köztetek lévő istenfélők! Ennek az üdvösségnek az igéje hozzánk küldetett.
27 What the people of Jerusalem and their rulers did, though they did not realise it, was in f	27 Mert Jeruzsálem lakói és a vezetőik nem ismerték el őt, hanem ítélkezésükkel beteljesítették a próféták szavait is, amelyeket minden szombaton felolvasnak.
28 Though they found nothing to justify his execution, they condemned him and asked Pilate to have himput to death.	28 Mert bár nem találtak benne semmi okot sem a halálra, a kivégzését kívánták Pilátustól.
29 When they had carried out everything that scripture foretells about him they took him down from thetree and buried him in a tomb.	29 Miután mindent végrehajtottak, ami meg volt írva róla, levették őt a fáról, és sírba helyezték.
30 But God raised him from the dead,	30 De Isten feltámasztotta őt a halálból,
31 and for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied him from Galilee to Jerusalem: and itis these same companions of his who are now his witnesses before our people.	31 és több napon át megjelent azoknak, akik vele együtt jöttek fel Galileából Jeruzsálembe. Ezek tanúságot tesznek róla a mai napig a nép előtt.
32 'We have come here to tel you the good news that the promise made to our ancestors has comeabout.	32 Mi is az atyáknak tett ígéretet hirdetjük nektek,
33 God has fulfil ed it to their children by raising Jesus from the dead. As scripture says in the psalms: You are my son: today I have fathered you.	33 mert azt Isten nekünk, az ő fiainak teljesítette, amikor föltámasztotta Jézust, amint meg is van írva a második zsoltárban: ‘Fiam vagy te, ma nemzettelek téged’.
34 The fact that God raised him from the dead, never to return to corruption, is no more than what hehad declared: To you I shal give the holy things promised to David which can be relied upon.	34 Hogy pedig feltámasztotta a halálból, és hogy többé már nem tér vissza az enyészetbe, így mondta meg: ‘Nektek adom a Dávidnak ígért biztos kegyelmet’.
35 This is also why it says in another text: You wil not al ow your Holy One to see corruption.	35 Éppen ezért mondja másutt is: ‘Nem engeded, hogy Szented romlást lásson’.
36 Now when David in his own time had served God's purposes he died; he was buried with hisancestors and has certainly seen corruption.	36 Dávid ugyanis, miután a maga idejében Isten akaratát szolgálta, elszenderült, atyái mellé tették, s meglátta a romlást.
37 The one whom God has raised up, however, has not seen corruption.	37 De az, akit Isten a halálból feltámasztott, nem látott romlást.
38 'My brothers, I want you to realise that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed toyou. Through him justification from al sins from which the Law of Moses was unable to justify	38 Vegyétek tehát tudomásul férfiak, testvérek, hogy őáltala hirdetjük nektek a bűnök bocsánatát, és hogy mindattól, amitől Mózes törvénye által meg nem igazulhattatok,
39 is being offered to every believer.	39 őáltala mindenki megigazul, aki hisz.
40 'So be careful -- or what the prophets say wil happen to you.	40 Ügyeljetek azért, hogy be ne teljesedjen rajtatok, amit a próféta mondott:
41 Cast your eyes around you, mockers; be amazed, and perish! For I am doing something in your owndays that you would never believe if you were told of it.'	41 ‘Lássátok, ti önteltek, csodálkozzatok és semmisüljetek meg, mert napjaitokban egy művet valósítok meg, olyan művet, amelyet el sem hinnétek, ha valaki mondaná nektek’«.
42 As they left they were urged to continue this preaching the fol owing Sabbath.	42 Amikor azután kimentek, kérlelték őket, hogy a következő szombaton is magyarázzák nekik ezeket a dolgokat.
43 When the meeting broke up many Jews and devout converts fol owed Paul and Barnabas, and in theirtalks with them Paul and Barnabas urged them to remain faithful to the grace God had given them.	43 Sőt, amikor a zsinagóga szétoszlott, a zsidók és az istenfélő jövevények közül sokan követték Pált és Barnabást, ők pedig biztatták és bátorították őket, hogy maradjanak meg Isten kegyelmében.
44 The next Sabbath almost the whole town assembled to hear the word of God.	44 A következő szombaton azután majdnem az egész város összegyűlt, hogy hallja Isten igéjét.
45 When they saw the crowds, the Jews, fil ed with jealousy, used blasphemies to contradict everythingPaul said.	45 Mikor azonban a zsidók a sokaságot látták, elfogta őket a féltékenység, s káromlások között ellentmondtak annak, amit Pál mondott.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out fearlessly. 'We had to proclaim the word of God to you first, butsince you have rejected it, since you do not think yourselves worthy of eternal life, here and now we turn to thegentiles.	46 Erre Pál és Barnabás egész bátran kijelentették: »Először nektek kellett hirdetnünk Isten igéjét, mivel azonban ti visszautasítjátok azt, s nem tartjátok magatokat méltóknak az örök életre, íme, a pogányokhoz fordulunk,
47 For this is what the Lord commanded us to do when he said: I have made you a light to the nations,so that my salvation may reach the remotest parts of the earth.'	47 mert így parancsolta nekünk az Úr: ‘A pogányok világosságává tettelek téged, hogy szolgáld az üdvösséget a föld végső határáig’«.
48 It made the gentiles very happy to hear this and they gave thanks to the Lord for his message; all whowere destined for eternal life became believers.	48 Mikor a pogányok meghallották ezt, megörültek, és magasztalták az Úr igéjét. Hittek is mindnyájan, akik az örök életre voltak rendelve.
49 Thus the word of the Lord spread through the whole countryside.	49 Az Úr igéje pedig elterjedt az egész tartományban.
50 But the Jews worked on some of the devout women of the upper classes and the leading men of thecity; they stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas and expel ed them from their territory.	50 A zsidók azonban felizgatták a vallásos és előkelő asszonyokat, s a város első embereit. Üldözést szítottak Pál és Barnabás ellen, és kiűzték őket határukból.
51 So they shook the dust from their feet in protest against them and went off to Iconium; but theconverts were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.	51 Ezek lerázták ellenük lábuk porát, és elmentek Ikóniumba.
	52 A tanítványok pedig elteltek örömmel és a Szentlélekkel.
