NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 and Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.	1 Jézus pedig kiment az Olajfák hegyére.
2 At daybreak he appeared in the Temple again; and as al the people came to him, he sat down andbegan to teach them.	2 Korán reggel ismét megjelent a templomban, ahol az egész nép köréje sereglett. Leült, és tanította őket.
3 The scribes and Pharisees brought a woman along who had been caught committing adultery; andmaking her stand there in the middle	3 Az írástudók és a farizeusok odavittek hozzá egy asszonyt, akit házasságtörésen értek. Középre állították,
4 they said to Jesus, 'Master, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery,	4 és azt mondták Jézusnak: »Mester! Ezt az asszonyt házasságtörésen kapták.
5 and in the Law Moses has ordered us to stone women of this kind. What have you got to say?'	5 Mózes a törvényben azt parancsolta nekünk, hogy az ilyeneket meg kell kövezni. Te ugyan mit mondasz?«
6 They asked him this as a test, looking for an accusation to use against him. But Jesus bent down andstarted writing on the ground with his finger.	6 Ezt azért mondták, hogy próbára tegyék, és hogy bevádolhassák. Jézus azonban lehajolt, és ujjával írt a földre.
7 As they persisted with their question, he straightened up and said, 'Let the one among you who isguiltless be the first to throw a stone at her.'	7 Amikor azok tovább faggatták őt, fölegyenesedett, és azt mondta nekik: »Aki közületek bűn nélkül van, az vessen rá először követ.«

10 Jesus again straightened up and said, 'Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?'	10 Jézus fölegyenesedett, és azt mondta neki: »Asszony, hol vannak ők? Senki sem ítélt el téged?«
11 'No one, sir,' she replied. 'Neither do I condemn you,' said Jesus. 'Go away, and from this moment sinno more.'	11 Az erre így szólt: »Senki, Uram!« Jézus ekkor azt mondta neki: »Én sem ítéllek el. Menj, és többé már ne vétkezzél!«
12 When Jesus spoke to the people again, he said: I am the light of the world; anyone who fol ows me wilnot be walking in the dark, but wil have the light of life.	12 Jézus ismét megszólalt, és azt mondta nekik: »Én vagyok a világ világossága. Aki követ engem, nem jár sötétben, hanem övé lesz az élet világossága.«
13 At this the Pharisees said to him, 'You are testifying on your own behalf; your testimony is not true.'	13 Erre a farizeusok azt mondták neki: »Te önmagadról teszel tanúságot, tanúságtételed tehát nem igaz.«
14 Jesus replied: Even though I am testifying on my own behalf, my testimony is stil true, because I knowwhere I have come from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.	14 Jézus azt felelte nekik: »Ha én önmagamról teszek is tanúságot, igaz az én tanúságom, mert tudom, hogy honnan jöttem, és hová megyek. Ti azonban nem tudjátok, hogy honnan jövök vagy hová megyek.
15 You judge by human standards; I judge no one,	15 Ti test szerint ítéltek, én viszont nem ítélek meg senkit.
16 but if I judge, my judgement will be true, because I am not alone: the one who sent me is with me;	16 Ha pedig ítélek, igaz az én ítéletem, mert nem vagyok egyedül, hanem én, és az, aki küldött engem, az Atya.
17 and in your Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true.	17 Márpedig a ti törvényetekben is meg van írva, hogy két ember tanúságtétele igaz.
18 I testify on my own behalf, but the Father who sent me testifies on my behalf, too.	18 Én vagyok az, aki tanúságot teszek magamról, és tanúságot tesz rólam az is, aki engem küldött, az Atya.«
19 They asked him, 'Where is your Father then?' Jesus answered: You do not know me, nor do you knowmy Father; if you did know me, you would know my Father as wel .	19 Erre megkérdezték: »Hol van a te Atyád?« Jézus azt felelte: »Sem engem nem ismertek, sem Atyámat. Ha engem ismernétek, talán Atyámat is ismernétek.«
20 He spoke these words in the Treasury, while teaching in the Temple. No one arrested him, becausehis hour had not yet come.	20 Ezeket a szavakat mondta a kincstárban, amikor a templomban tanított. Senki sem fogta el őt, mert még nem jött el az ő órája.
21 Again he said to them: I am going away; you will look for me and you wil die in your sin. Where I amgoing, you cannot come.	21 Majd ismét szólt hozzájuk: »Elmegyek, és keresni fogtok, de meghaltok bűnötökben. Ahová én megyek, oda ti nem jöhettek.«
22 So the Jews said to one another, 'Is he going to kil himself, that he says, "Where I am going, youcannot come?" '	22 A zsidók erre azt mondták: »Csak nem öli meg magát, s azért mondja: ‘Ahová én megyek, oda ti nem jöhettek’?«
23 Jesus went on: You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.	23 Ő azt felelte nekik: »Ti innen alulról vagytok, én meg felülről vagyok. Ti ebből a világból vagytok, én azonban nem vagyok ebből a világból.
24 I have told you already: You wil die in your sins. Yes, if you do not believe that I am He, you wil die inyour sins.	24 Azért mondtam nektek, hogy meghaltok bűneitekben. Mert ha nem hiszitek, hogy én vagyok, meghaltok bűneitekben.«
25 So they said to him, 'Who are you?' Jesus answered: What I have told you from the outset.	25 Erre azt kérdezték: »Ki vagy te?« Jézus azt felelte: »Az, amit mindig is mondtam nektek.
26 About you I have much to say and much to judge; but the one who sent me is true, and what I declareto the world I have learnt from him.	26 Sokat kellene még rólatok mondanom és ítélkeznem, de aki küldött engem, igazmondó, és én azt mondom el a világnak, amit tőle hallottam.«
27 They did not recognise that he was talking to them about the Father.	27 Azok nem értették meg, hogy az Atyáról beszélt nekik.
28 So Jesus said: When you have lifted up the Son of man, then you wil know that I am He and that I donothing of my own accord. What I say is what the Father has taught me;	28 Ezért Jézus így szólt: »Amikor fölemelitek az Emberfiát, akkor megtudjátok majd, hogy én vagyok, és semmit sem teszek magamtól, hanem úgy mondom ezeket, amint az Atya tanított engem.
29 he who sent me is with me, and has not left me to myself, for I always do what pleases him.	29 És aki küldött engem, velem van, nem hagyott magamra, mert mindenkor azt teszem, ami kedves neki.«
30 As he was saying this, many came to believe in him.	30 Mikor ezeket mondta, sokan hittek benne.
31 To the Jews who believed in him Jesus said: If you make my word your home you wil indeed be mydisciples;	31 Azoknak a zsidóknak, akik hittek neki, Jézus azt mondta: »Ha megmaradtok tanításomban, valóban tanítványaim vagytok,
32 you wil come to know the truth, and the truth wil set you free.	32 megismeritek az igazságot, és az igazság szabaddá tesz titeket.«
33 They answered, 'We are descended from Abraham and we have never been the slaves of anyone;what do you mean, "You wil be set free?" '	33 Azok azt felelték neki: »Ábrahám utódai vagyunk, és soha senkinek nem szolgáltunk. Hogyan mondod hát te, hogy ‘szabadok lesztek’?«
34 Jesus replied: In all truth I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave.	34 Jézus így szólt: »Bizony, bizony mondom nektek: Mindaz, aki bűnt cselekszik, szolga.
35 Now a slave has no permanent standing in the household, but a son belongs to it for ever.	35 De a szolga nem marad örökre a házban, csak a fiú marad ott mindörökké.
36 So if the Son sets you free, you will indeed be free.	36 Ha tehát a Fiú megszabadít titeket, valóban szabadok lesztek.
37 I know that you are descended from Abraham; but you want to kil me because my word finds no placein you.	37 Tudom, hogy Ábrahám utódai vagytok, de meg akartok engem ölni, mert a tanításom nem hatol belétek.
38 What I speak of is what I have seen at my Father's side, and you too put into action the lessons youhave learnt from your father.	38 Én azt mondom, amit az Atyánál láttam, és ti is azt teszitek, amit atyátoktól hallottatok.«
39 They repeated, 'Our father is Abraham.' Jesus said to them: If you are Abraham's children, do asAbraham did.	39 Azt felelték neki: »A mi atyánk Ábrahám!« Jézus azt mondta nekik: »Ha Ábrahám fiai lennétek, Ábrahám tetteit cselekednétek.
40 As it is, you want to kill me, a man who has told you the truth as I have learnt it from God; that is notwhat Abraham did.	40 De most meg akartok ölni engem, azt az embert, aki nektek azt az igazságot mondtam, amelyet az Istentől hallottam; ezt Ábrahám nem tette.
41 You are doing your father's work. They replied, 'We were not born illegitimate, the only father we haveis God.'	41 Ti a ti atyátok tetteit cselekszitek.« Erre azt mondták neki: »Mi nem paráznaságból születtünk. Egy Atyánk van, az Isten!«
42 Jesus answered: If God were your father, you would love me, since I have my origin in God and havecome from him; I did not come of my own accord, but he sent me.	42 Jézus így szólt hozzájuk: »Ha Isten volna az Atyátok, szeretnétek engem, mert én Istentől származtam és jöttem. Hiszen nem magamtól jöttem, hanem ő küldött engem.
43 Why do you not understand what I say? Because you cannot bear to listen to my words.	43 Miért nem értitek a beszédemet? Mert nem tudjátok hallgatni az igémet.
44 You are from your father, the devil, and you prefer to do what your father wants. He was a murdererfrom the start; he was never grounded in the truth; there is no truth in him at all. When he lies he is speaking trueto his nature, because he is a liar, and the father of lies.	44 Ti az ördög-atyától vagytok, és atyátok kívánságait akarjátok cselekedni. 46 Can any of you convict me of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me?	46 Ki vádolhat engem közületek bűnnel? Ha igazságot mondok nektek, miért nem hisztek nekem?
47 Whoever comes from God listens to the words of God; the reason why you do not listen is that you arenot from God.	47 Aki Istentől van, Isten igéit hallgatja. Ti azért nem hallgatjátok, mert nem vagytok Istentől.«
48 The Jews replied, 'Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and possessed by a devil?'Jesus answered:	48 A zsidók azt felelték: »Vajon nem helyesen mondjuk, hogy szamaritánus vagy és ördögöd van?«
49 I am not possessed; but I honour my Father, and you deny me honour.	49 Jézus azt felelte: »Nincs nekem ördögöm, csak tisztelem Atyámat, és ti gyalázattal illettek engem.
50 I do not seek my own glory; there is someone who does seek it and is the judge of it.	50 Én azonban nem keresem a magam dicsőségét; van, aki keresi azt, és ítéletet mond.
51 In al truth I tel you, whoever keeps my word wil never see death.	51 Bizony, bizony mondom nektek: Aki tanításomat megtartja, halált nem lát sohasem.«
52 The Jews said, 'Now we know that you are possessed. Abraham is dead, and the prophets are dead,and yet you say, "Whoever keeps my word wil never know the taste of death."	52 Azt mondták erre a zsidók: »Most ismertük meg, hogy ördögöd van. Ábrahám meghalt, a próféták is, és te azt mondod: ‘Ha valaki a tanításomat megtartja, nem ízleli meg a halált sohasem.’
53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? The prophets are dead too. Who are youclaiming to be?'	53 Nagyobb vagy talán Ábrahám atyánknál, aki meghalt? A próféták is meghaltak. Mivé teszed magad?«
54 Jesus answered: If I were to seek my own glory my glory would be worth nothing; in fact, my glory isconferred by the Father, by the one of whom you say, 'He is our God,'	54 Jézus azt felelte: »Ha én dicsőítem magamat, az én dicsőségem semmi. Atyám az, aki megdicsőít engem, akiről ti azt mondjátok: ‘Istenünk’,
55 although you do not know him. But I know him, and if I were to say, 'I do not know him,' I should be aliar, as you yourselves are. But I do know him, and I keep his word.	55 pedig nem ismeritek őt. Én azonban ismerem. Ha azt mondanám, hogy nem ismerem őt, hozzátok hasonló hazug lennék. De én ismerem őt, és a tanítását megtartom.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to think that he would see my Day; he saw it and was glad.	56 Ábrahám, a ti atyátok, ujjongott, hogy láthatja az én napomat. Látta, és örvendezett.«
57 The Jews then said, 'You are not fifty yet, and you have seen Abraham!'	57 A zsidók erre azt mondták neki: »Még ötven esztendős sem vagy, és láttad Ábrahámot?«
58 Jesus replied: In all truth I tell you, before Abraham ever was, I am.	58 Jézus azt felelte nekik: »Bizony, bizony mondom nektek: Mielőtt Ábrahám lett volna, én vagyok.«
59 At this they picked up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself and left the Temple.	59 Ekkor köveket ragadtak, hogy megkövezzék. De Jézus elrejtőzött, és kiment a templomból.
