John 17

1 After saying this, Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said: Father, the hour has come: glorify yourSon so that your Son may glorify you;	1 אֶת־אֵלֶּה דִּבֶּר יֵשׁוּעַ וַיִּשָּׂא עֵינָיו הַשָּׁמַיְמָה וַיֹּאמַר אָבִי הִנֵּה־בָאָה הַשָּׁעָה פָּאֵר אֶת־בִּנְךָ לְמַעַן גַּם־בִּנְךָ יְפָאֲרֶךָּ
2 so that, just as you have given him power over all humanity, he may give eternal life to al those youhave entrusted to him.	2 כַּאֲשֶׁר נָתַתָּ לּוֹ הַשָּׁלְטָן עַל־כָּל־בָּשָׂר לְמַעַן יִתֵּן חַיֵּי עוֹלָמִים לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־נָתַתָּ לּוֹ
3 And eternal life is this: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.	3 וְאֵלֶּה הֵם חַיֵּי הָעוֹלָמִים לָדַעַת אֹתְךָ אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה לְבַדְּךָ אֵל אֱמֶת וְאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֲשֶׁר שָׁלָחְתָּ
4 I have glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do.	4 אֲנִי פֵּאַרְתִּיךָ בָאָרֶץ כִּלִּיתִי פָעָלְךָ אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתַנִי לַעֲשׂוֹת
5 Now, Father, glorify me with that glory I had with you before ever the world existed.	5 וְעַתָּה פָאֲרֵנִי אַתָּה אָבִי עִמֶּךָ בַּכָּבוֹד אֲשֶׁר הָיָה־לִי עִמְּךָ טֶרֶם הֱיוֹת הָעוֹלָם
6 I have revealed your name to those whom you took from the world to give me. They were yours andyou gave them to me, and they have kept your word.	6 אֶת־שִׁמְךָ הוֹדַעְתִּי לִבְנֵי הָאָדָם אֲשֶׁר נְתַתָּם לִי מִתּוֹךְ הָעוֹלָם לְךָ הָיוּ וְלִי נָתַתָּ אֹתָם וְאֶת־דְּבָרְךָ נָצָרוּ
7 Now at last they have recognised that all you have given me comes from you	7 וְעַתָּה יָדְעוּ כִּי־כֹל אֲשֶׁר נָתַתָּ לִּי מֵעִמְּךָ הוּא
8 for I have given them the teaching you gave to me, and they have indeed accepted it and know forcertain that I came from you, and have believed that it was you who sent me.	8 כִּי הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר נָתַתָּ לִּי נָתַתִּי לָהֶם וְהֵם קִבְּלוּם וַיַּכִּירוּ בֶאֱמֶת כִּי מֵעִמְּךָ יָצָאתִי וַיַּאֲמִינוּ כִּי אַתָּה שְׁלַחְתָּנִי
9 It is for them that I pray. I am not praying for the world but for those you have given me, because theybelong to you.	9 אֲנִי בַּעֲדָם אַעְתִּיר לָךְ לֹא בְּעַד הָעוֹלָם אַעְתִּיר כִּי אִם־בְּעַד אֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר נָתַתָּ לִּי כִּי־לְךָ הֵמָּה
10 All I have is yours and al you have is mine, and in them I am glorified.	10 וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר לִי לְךָ הוּא וְשֶׁלְּךָ שֶׁלִּי וְנִתְפָּאַרְתִּי בָּהֶם
11 I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keepthose you have given me true to your name, so that they may be one like us.	11 וַאֲנִי אֵינֶנִּי עוֹד בָּעוֹלָם וְהֵם בָּעוֹלָם הֵמָּה וַאֲנִי בָּא אֵלֶיךָ אָבִי הַקָּדוֹשׁ נְצֹר בְּשִׁמְךָ אֶת־אֲשֶׁר נְתַתָּם לִי לְמַעַן יִהְיוּ אֶחָד כָּמֹנוּ
12 While I was with them, I kept those you had given me true to your name. I have watched over themand not one is lost except one who was destined to be lost, and this was to fulfil the scriptures.	12 בִּהְיוֹתִי עִמָּהֶם בָּעוֹלָם אֲנִי נָצַרְתִּי אֹתָם בִּשְׁמֶךָ אֶת־אֲשֶׁר נְתַתָּם לִי שָׁמַרְתִּי וְלֹא־אָבַד מֵהֶם אִישׁ זוּלָתִי בֶּן־הָאֲבַדּוֹן לְמַלֹּאת דְּבַר הַכָּתוּב
13 But now I am coming to you and I say these things in the world to share my joy with them to the full.	13 וְעַתָּה הִנְנִי בָא אֵלֶיךָ וְאֵלֶּה אֲנִי מְדַבֵּר בָּעוֹלָם לְמַעַן תִּמָּלֵא לָהֶם שִׂמְחָתִי בְּקִרְבָּם
14 I passed your word on to them, and the world hated them, because they belong to the world no morethan I belong to the world.	14 אֲנִי נָתַתִּי לָהֶם אֶת־דְּבָרְךָ וְהָעוֹלָם שָׂנֵא אֹתָם יַעַן כִּי לֹא מִן־הָעוֹלָם הֵמָּה כַּאֲשֶׁר גַּם־אָנֹכִי לֹא מִן־הָעוֹלָם אָנִי
15 I am not asking you to remove them from the world, but to protect them from the Evil One.	15 וְלֹא אַעְתִּיר לְךָ אֲשֶׁר תִּקָּחֵם מִן־הָעוֹלָם רַק שֶׁתִּצְּרֵם מִן־הָרָע
16 They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world.	16 מִן־הָעוֹלָם אֵינֵמוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר גַּם־אָנֹכִי אֵינֶנִּי מִן־הָעוֹלָם
17 Consecrate them in the truth; your word is truth.	17 קַדֵּשׁ אֹתָם בַּאֲמִתֶּךָ דְּבָרְךָ אֱמֶת הוּא
18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world,	18 כַּאֲשֶׁר אַתָּה שָׁלַחְתָּ אֹתִי אֶל־הָעוֹלָם כֵּן גַּם־אֲנִי שָׁלַחְתִּי אֹתָם אֶל־הָעוֹלָם
19 and for their sake I consecrate myself so that they too may be consecrated in truth.	19 וְהִתְקַדַּשְׁתִּי בַּעֲדָם לְמַעַן יִהְיוּ גַם־הֵם מְקֻדָּשִׁים בָּאֱמֶת
20 I pray not only for these but also for those who through their teaching wil come to believe in me.	20 אוּלָם לֹא לְבַד בְּעַד־אֵלֶּה אָנֹכִי מַעְתִּיר לָךְ כִּי אִם־גַּם־בְּעַד הַמַּאֲמִינִים בִּי עַל־פִּי דְבָרָם
21 May they al be one, just as, Father, you are in me and I am in you, so that they also may be in us, sothat the world may believe it was you who sent me.	21 לְמַעַן יִהְיוּ כֻלָּם אֶחָד כַּאֲשֶׁר אַתָּה אָבִי בִּי אַתָּה וַאֲנִי בָךְ וְהָיוּ גַם־הֵמָּה בָּנוּ כְּאֶחָד לְמַעַן יַאֲמִין הָעוֹלָם כִּי אַתָּה שְׁלַחְתָּנִי
22 I have given them the glory you gave to me, that they may be one as we are one.	22 וַאֲנִי נָתַתִּי לָהֶם אֶת־הַכָּבוֹד אֲשֶׁר נָתַתָּ לִּי לְמַעַן יִהְיוּ אֶחָד כַּאֲשֶׁר אֲנַחְנוּ אֶחָד אֲנָחְנוּ
23 With me in them and you in me, may they be so perfected in unity that the world wil recognise that itwas you who sent me and that you have loved them as you have loved me.	23 אֲנִי בָהֶם וְאַתָּה בִי לְמַעַן יִהְיוּ מֻשְׁלָמִים לְאֶחָד וּלְמַעַן יֵדַע הָעוֹלָם כִּי אַתָּה שְׁלַחְתָּנִי וְאָהַבְתָּ אֹתָם כַּאֲשֶׁר אֲהַבְתָּנִי
24 Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, so that they may always see myglory which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.	24 אָבִי חָפַצְתִּי כִּי גַם־הֵם אֲשֶׁר נְתַתָּם לִי יִהְיוּ עִמִּי בַּאֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה אָנִי לְמַעַן יֶחֱזוּ אֶת־כְּבוֹדִי אֲשֶׁר נָתַתָּ לִּי כִּי אֲהַבְתַּנִי לִפְנֵי מוֹסְדוֹת עוֹלָם
25 Father, Upright One, the world has not known you, but I have known you, and these have known thatyou have sent me.	25 אָבִי הַצַּדִּיק הֵן הָעוֹלָם לֹא יְדָעֲךָ וַאֲנִי יְדַעְתִּיךָ וְאֵלֶּה הִכִּירוּ כִּי אַתָּה שְׁלַחְתָּנִי
26 I have made your name known to them and wil continue to make it known, so that the love withwhich you loved me may be in them, and so that I may be in them.	26 וַאֲנִי הוֹדַעְתִּים אֶת־שִׁמְךָ וְאוֹסִיף לְהוֹדִיעָם לְמַעַן תִּהְיֶה־בָּם הָאַהֲבָה אֲשֶׁר אֲהַבְתָּנִי וַאֲנִי אֶהְיֶה בָהֶם
