John 17

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 After saying this, Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said: Father, the hour has come: glorify yourSon so that your Son may glorify you;	1 את אלה דבר ישוע וישא עיניו השמימה ויאמר אבי הנה באה השעה פאר את בנך למען גם בנך יפארך
2 so that, just as you have given him power over all humanity, he may give eternal life to al those youhave entrusted to him.	2 כאשר נתת לו השלטן על כל בשר למען יתן חיי עולמים לכל אשר נתת לו
3 And eternal life is this: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.	3 ואלה הם חיי העולמים לדעת אתך אשר אתה לבדך אל אמת ואת ישוע המשיח אשר שלחת
4 I have glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do.	4 אני פארתיך בארץ כליתי פעלך אשר צויתני לעשות
5 Now, Father, glorify me with that glory I had with you before ever the world existed.	5 ועתה פארני אתה אבי עמך בכבוד אשר היה לי עמך טרם היות העולם
6 I have revealed your name to those whom you took from the world to give me. They were yours andyou gave them to me, and they have kept your word.	6 את שמך הודעתי לבני האדם אשר נתתם לי מתוך העולם לך היו ולי נתת אתם ואת דברך נצרו
7 Now at last they have recognised that all you have given me comes from you	7 ועתה ידעו כי כל אשר נתת לי מעמך הוא
8 for I have given them the teaching you gave to me, and they have indeed accepted it and know forcertain that I came from you, and have believed that it was you who sent me.	8 כי הדברים אשר נתת לי נתתי להם והם קבלום ויכירו באמת כי מעמך יצאתי ויאמינו כי אתה שלחתני
9 It is for them that I pray. I am not praying for the world but for those you have given me, because theybelong to you.	9 אני בעדם אעתיר לך לא בעד העולם אעתיר כי אם בעד אלה אשר נתת לי כי לך המה
10 All I have is yours and al you have is mine, and in them I am glorified.	10 וכל אשר לי לך הוא ושלך שלי ונתפארתי בהם
11 I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keepthose you have given me true to your name, so that they may be one like us.	11 ואני אינני עוד בעולם והם בעולם המה ואני בא אליך אבי הקדוש נצר בשמך את אשר נתתם לי למען יהיו אחד כמנו
12 While I was with them, I kept those you had given me true to your name. I have watched over themand not one is lost except one who was destined to be lost, and this was to fulfil the scriptures.	12 בהיותי עמהם בעולם אני נצרתי אתם בשמך את אשר נתתם לי שמרתי ולא אבד מהם איש זולתי בן האבדון למלאת דבר הכתוב
13 But now I am coming to you and I say these things in the world to share my joy with them to the full.	13 ועתה הנני בא אליך ואלה אני מדבר בעולם למען תמלא להם שמחתי בקרבם
14 I passed your word on to them, and the world hated them, because they belong to the world no morethan I belong to the world.	14 אני נתתי להם את דברך והעולם שנא אתם יען כי לא מן העולם המה כאשר גם אנכי לא מן העולם אני
15 I am not asking you to remove them from the world, but to protect them from the Evil One.	15 ולא אעתיר לך אשר תקחם מן העולם רק שתצרם מן הרע
16 They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world.	16 מן העולם אינמו כאשר גם אנכי אינני מן העולם
17 Consecrate them in the truth; your word is truth.	17 קדש אתם באמתך דברך אמת הוא
18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world,	18 כאשר אתה שלחת אתי אל העולם כן גם אני שלחתי אתם אל העולם
19 and for their sake I consecrate myself so that they too may be consecrated in truth.	19 והתקדשתי בעדם למען יהיו גם הם מקדשים באמת
20 I pray not only for these but also for those who through their teaching wil come to believe in me.	20 אולם לא לבד בעד אלה אנכי מעתיר לך כי אם גם בעד המאמינים בי על פי דברם
21 May they al be one, just as, Father, you are in me and I am in you, so that they also may be in us, sothat the world may believe it was you who sent me.	21 למען יהיו כלם אחד כאשר אתה אבי בי אתה ואני בך והיו גם המה בנו כאשר למען יאמין העולם כי אתה שלחתני
22 I have given them the glory you gave to me, that they may be one as we are one.	22 ואני נתתי להם את הכבוד אשר נתת לי למען יהיו אחד כאשר אנחנו אחד נחנו
23 With me in them and you in me, may they be so perfected in unity that the world wil recognise that itwas you who sent me and that you have loved them as you have loved me.	23 אני בהם ואתה בי למען יהיו משלמים לאחד ולמען ידע העולם כי אתה שלחתני ואהבת אתם כאשר אהבתני
24 Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, so that they may always see myglory which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.	24 אבי חפצתי כי גם הם אשר נתתם לי יהיו עמי באשר אהיה אני למען יחזו את כבודי אשר נתת לי כי אהבתני לפני מוסדות עולם
25 Father, Upright One, the world has not known you, but I have known you, and these have known thatyou have sent me.	25 אבי הצדיק הן העולם לא ידעך ואני ידעתיך ואלה הכירו כי אתה שלחתני
26 I have made your name known to them and wil continue to make it known, so that the love withwhich you loved me may be in them, and so that I may be in them.	26 ואני הודעתים את שמך ואוסיף להודיעם למען תהיה בם האהבה אשר אהבתני ואני אהיה בהם
