Deuteronomy 6

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 'Such, then, are the commandments, the laws and the customs which Yahweh your God has instructedme to teach you, for you to observe in the country which you are on your way to possess.	1 Questi sono i precetti, le cerimonie e le ordinazioni che il Signore Dio vostro mi ha comandato d'insegnarvi, perchè li mettiate in pratica nella terra ove state per passare a prenderne il possesso,
2 And hence, if, throughout your lives, you fear Yahweh your God and keep al his laws andcommandments, which I am laying down for you today, you wil live long, you and your child and your grandchild.	2 affìnchè tu terna il Signore Dio tuo, e osservi per tutti i giorni della tua vita tutti i suoi comandamenti e precetti che io prescrivo a te, ai tuoi figli, ai tuoi nipoti, affinchè siano prolungati i tuoi giorni.
3 Listen then, Israel, keep and observe what wil make you prosperous and numerous, as Yahweh, Godof your ancestors, has promised you, in giving you a country flowing with milk and honey.	3 A scolta, o Israele, e abbi cura di fare ciò che il Signore ti ha comandato, per essere felice ed ancor più moltiplicato nella terra che stilla latte e miele, come il Signore Dio dei tuoi padri ti ha promesso.
4 'Listen, Israel: Yahweh our God is the one, the only Yahweh.	4 Ascolta, o Israele: il Signore Dio nostro è l'unico Signore.
5 You must love Yahweh your God with al your heart, with al your soul, with al your strength.	5 Tu amerai il Signore Dio tuo con tutto il tuo cuore, con tutta la tua anima, con tutte le tue forze.
6 Let the words I enjoin on you today stay in your heart.	6 E questi precetti che oggi ti dò staranno nel tuo cuore:
7 You shal tel them to your children, and keep on tel ing them, when you are sitting at home, when youare out and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up;	7 li insegnerai ai tuoi figli, li mediterai in casa e lungo il viaggio, andando a dormire e alzandoti.
8 you must fasten them on your hand as a sign and on your forehead as a headband;	8 Te li legherai come un segno alla mano; li terrai come frontali tra gli occhi;
9 you must write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.	9 li scriverai sugli stipiti e sulle porte della tua casa.
10 'When Yahweh has brought you into the country which he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaacand Jacob that he would give you, with great and prosperous cities you have not built,	10 E quando il Signore Dio tuo ti avrà introdotto nella terra che giurò ad Abramo, Isacco e Giacobbe tuoi padri, quando ti avrà dato grandi e magnifiche città, che tu non hai edificate,
11 with houses full of good things you have not provided, with wel s you have not dug, with vineyards andolive trees you have not planted, and then, when you have eaten as much as you want,	11 e case piene d'ogni bene, che tu non hai fabbricate, e cisterne che non hai scavate, e vigne e uliveti che non hai piantati;
12 be careful you do not forget Yahweh who has brought you out of Egypt, out of the place of slave-labour.	12 quando avrai mangiato e ti sarai saziato,
13 Yahweh your God is the one you must fear, him alone you must serve, his is the name by which youmust swear.	13 guardati bene dal dimenticarti del Signore che ti trasse dalla terra d'Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitù. Temerai il Signore Dio tuo, servirai a lui solo, e giurerai pel suo Nome.
14 'Do not fol ow other gods, gods of the peoples round you,	14 Non andrete dietro agli dèi stranieri delle nazioni che vi stanno d'intorno,
15 for Yahweh your God among you is a jealous God; the wrath of Yahweh your God would blaze outagainst you, and he would wipe you off the face of the earth.	15 perchè il Signore Dio tuo che sta in mezzo a te è un Dio geloso, e, accendendosi il furore del Signore Dio tuo contro di te, ti potrebbe sterminare dalla superficie della terra.
16 Do not put Yahweh your God to the test as you tested him at Massah.	16 Non tenterai il Signore Dio tuo, come lo tentasti nel luogo della tentazione.
17 Keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his instructions and laws which he has laid downfor you,	17 Osserva i comandamenti del Signore Dio tuo, le leggi e le cerimonie che egli ti ha prescritte;
18 and do what Yahweh regards as right and good, so that you may prosper and take possession of thefine country which Yahweh swore to give your ancestors,	18 fa ciò che è accetto e buono davanti al Signore, affinchè tu sia felice e possa entrare a prender possesso dell'ottima terra, riguardo alla quale il Signore giurò ai tuoi padri
19 driving out your enemies before you; such was Yahweh's promise.	19 di sterminare dinanzi a te tutti i tuoi nemici, come ha detto.
20 'In times to come, when your child asks you, "What is the meaning of these instructions, laws andcustoms which Yahweh our God has laid down for you?"	20 E quando, in avvenire, il tuo figlio ti domanderà: Che significano queste leggi, queste cerimonie, queste ordinazioni che ci ha prescritte il Signore Dio nostro?
21 you are to tel your child, "Once we were Pharaoh's slaves in Egypt, and Yahweh brought us out ofEgypt by his mighty hand.	21 tu risponderai: Noi eravamo schiavi di Faraone in Egitto; ma il Signore ci trasse fuori dall'Egitto con mano potente,
22 Before our eyes, Yahweh worked great and terrible signs and wonders against Egypt, againstPharaoh and his entire household.	22 facendo segni e prodigi grandi e terribili nell'Egitto contro Faraone e contro tutta la sua casa alla nostra presenza;
23 And he brought us out of there, to lead us into the country which he had sworn to our ancestors thathe would give us.	23 e ci trasse di là per condurci a possedere la terra da lui giurata ai nostri padri.
24 And Yahweh has commanded us to observe all these laws and to fear Yahweh our God, so as to behappy for ever and to survive, as we do to this day.	24 E il Signore ci comandò di osservare tutte queste leggi e di temere il Signore Dio nostro, per esser felici tutti i giorni della nostra vita come al presente.
25 For us, right living wil mean this: to keep and observe al these commandments in obedience toYahweh our God, as he has commanded us." '	25 Egli ci sarà propizio, se osserveremo e adempiremo tutti i precetti dinanzi al Signore Dio nostro, come egli ci ha comandato.
