Deuteronomy 6

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 'Such, then, are the commandments, the laws and the customs which Yahweh your God has instructedme to teach you, for you to observe in the country which you are on your way to possess.	1 Questi sono gli ordini, le prescrizioni e i decreti che il Signore vostro Dio ha ordinato di comunicarvi affinché li mettiate in pratica nella terra dove passate per conquistarla.
2 And hence, if, throughout your lives, you fear Yahweh your God and keep al his laws andcommandments, which I am laying down for you today, you wil live long, you and your child and your grandchild.	2 Perché tema il Signore tuo Dio, osservando le prescrizioni e i precetti che oggi ti prescrivo, per tutti i giorni della tua vita, tu, tuo figlio e il figlio di tuo figlio e si prolunghino i tuoi giorni.
3 Listen then, Israel, keep and observe what wil make you prosperous and numerous, as Yahweh, Godof your ancestors, has promised you, in giving you a country flowing with milk and honey.	3 Tu ascolterai, Israele, e praticherai quello che ti procurerà il bene e ti moltiplicherà molto nella terra dove scorre latte e miele, come ha detto il Signore, Dio dei tuoi padri.
4 'Listen, Israel: Yahweh our God is the one, the only Yahweh.	4 Ascolta, o Israele: il Signore è il nostro Dio, il Signore è uno solo.
5 You must love Yahweh your God with al your heart, with al your soul, with al your strength.	5 Amerai il Signore tuo Dio con tutto il cuore, con tutta l'anima, con tutta la forza.
6 Let the words I enjoin on you today stay in your heart.	6 Le parole che oggi ti ordino, siano nel tuo cuore.
7 You shal tel them to your children, and keep on tel ing them, when you are sitting at home, when youare out and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up;	7 Le inculcherai ai tuoi figli, ne parlerai quando sei seduto in casa, quando cammini per strada, quando sei coricato e quando sei in piedi.
8 you must fasten them on your hand as a sign and on your forehead as a headband;	8 Le legherai come un segno sulla tua mano, saranno come un pendaglio tra i tuoi occhi.
9 you must write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.	9 Le scriverai sugli stipiti della tua casa e sulle tue porte.
10 'When Yahweh has brought you into the country which he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaacand Jacob that he would give you, with great and prosperous cities you have not built,	10 Quando il Signore tuo Dio ti avrà introdotto nella terra che ha giurato ad Abramo, a Isacco e a Giacobbe, tuoi padri, di darti, nelle grandi e belle città che non hai edificato,
11 with houses full of good things you have not provided, with wel s you have not dug, with vineyards andolive trees you have not planted, and then, when you have eaten as much as you want,	11 nelle case piene di ogni bene che non hai riempito, presso pozzi scavati, che non hai scavato tu, presso vigne e oliveti che non hai piantato; quando dunque avrai mangiato e ti sarai saziato,
12 be careful you do not forget Yahweh who has brought you out of Egypt, out of the place of slave-labour.	12 guardati dal dimenticare il Signore, che ti ha fatto uscire dalla terra d'Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitù.
13 Yahweh your God is the one you must fear, him alone you must serve, his is the name by which youmust swear.	13 Temerai il Signore tuo Dio, lo servirai, nel suo nome giurerai.
14 'Do not fol ow other gods, gods of the peoples round you,	14 Non seguirete altri dèi tra le divinità dei popoli che vi circondano,
15 for Yahweh your God among you is a jealous God; the wrath of Yahweh your God would blaze outagainst you, and he would wipe you off the face of the earth.	15 perché il Signore tuo Dio, che sta in mezzo a te, è un Dio geloso; che non si accenda l'ira del Signore tuo Dio e ti faccia scomparire dalla faccia della terra.
16 Do not put Yahweh your God to the test as you tested him at Massah.	16 Non tentate il Signore vostro Dio, come lo avete tentato a Massa.
17 Keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his instructions and laws which he has laid downfor you,	17 Osserverete attentamente i precetti del Signore vostro Dio, le sue istruzioni e le prescrizioni che ti ha ordinato.
18 and do what Yahweh regards as right and good, so that you may prosper and take possession of thefine country which Yahweh swore to give your ancestors,	18 Farai ciò ch'è retto e buono agli occhi del Signore, perché tu abbia bene e vada a conquistare quella terra buona che il Signore ha giurato ai tuoi padri di darti,
19 driving out your enemies before you; such was Yahweh's promise.	19 dopo aver cacciati tutti i tuoi nemici dinanzi a te, come il Signore ha promesso.
20 'In times to come, when your child asks you, "What is the meaning of these instructions, laws andcustoms which Yahweh our God has laid down for you?"	20 Quando in avvenire tuo figlio ti domanderà: "Che cosa sono queste istruzioni, queste prescrizioni e questi decreti che vi ha ordinato il Signore nostro Dio?",
21 you are to tel your child, "Once we were Pharaoh's slaves in Egypt, and Yahweh brought us out ofEgypt by his mighty hand.	21 tu risponderai a tuo figlio: "Noi eravamo schiavi del faraone in Egitto, e il Signore ci ha fatto uscire dall'Egitto con mano potente.
22 Before our eyes, Yahweh worked great and terrible signs and wonders against Egypt, againstPharaoh and his entire household.	22 Il Signore ha compiuto segni e prodigi grandi e funesti per l'Egitto, per il faraone e per tutta la sua casa sotto i nostri occhi;
23 And he brought us out of there, to lead us into the country which he had sworn to our ancestors thathe would give us.	23 invece ha fatto uscire noi di là per condurci e darci la terra che aveva giurato ai nostri padri.
24 And Yahweh has commanded us to observe all these laws and to fear Yahweh our God, so as to behappy for ever and to survive, as we do to this day.	24 Il Signore ci ha ordinato di mettere in pratica tutte queste prescrizioni, perché temiamo il Signore nostro Dio per il nostro bene, tutti i giorni, e per conservarci in vita, come è avvenuto oggi.
25 For us, right living wil mean this: to keep and observe al these commandments in obedience toYahweh our God, as he has commanded us." '	25 La nostra giustizia è osservare e praticare interamente questi comandi davanti al Signore nostro Dio, come ci ha prescritto".
