Deuteronomy 10

1 'Yahweh then said to me, "Cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and come up to me on themountain. Make an ark of wood;	1 ܒܗ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗ̇ܘ. ܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܡܪܝܐ. ܦܣܘܠ ܠܟ ܬܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܠܘܚ̈ܐ ܕܟܐܦܐ ܐܝܟ ܩ̈ܕܡܝܬܐ. ܘܣܩ ܠܘܬܝ ܠܛܘܪܐ. ܘܥܒܕ ܠܟ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܩܝܣܐ.
2 on the tablets I shal inscribe the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; put them in theark."	2 ܘܐܟܬܘܒ ܥܠ ܠܘܚ̈ܐ ܦ̈ܬܓܡܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܘ ܥܠ ܠܘܚ̈ܐ ܩܕܡ̈ܝܬܐ ܕܬܒܪܬ. ܘܣܝܡ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܒܩܒܘܬܐ.
3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, cut two stone tablets like the first and went up the mountain with thetwo tablets in my hand.	3 ܘܥܒ̇ܕܬ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܩܝܣܐ ܕܐܫܟܪܥܐ. ܘܦܣ̇ܠܬ ܬܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܠܘܚ̈ܐ ܕܟܐܦܐ ܐܝܟ ܩܕܡ̈ܝܬܐ. ܘܣ̇ܠܩܬ ܠܛܘܪܐ. ܘܬܪ̈ܬܝܗܝܢ ܠܘܚ̈ܐ ܒܐܝ̈ܕܝ.
4 And he inscribed the tablets, as he had inscribed them before, with the Ten Words which Yahweh hadsaid to you on the mountain, from the heart of the fire, on the day of the Assembly. Yahweh then gave them tome.	4 ܘܟܬܒ ܥܠ ܠܘܚ̈ܐ ܐܝܟ ܟܬܒܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ. ܥܣܪܐ ܦ̈ܬܓܡܝܢ ܕܡܠܠ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܡܟܘܢ. ܒܛܘܪܐ ܡܢ ܓܘ ܢܘܪܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܟܢܘܫܝܐ. ܘܝܗܒ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܠܝ ܡܪܝܐ.
5 I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, and there theystayed, as Yahweh had commanded me.	5 ܘܐܬܦܢܝܬ ܘܢܚ̇ܬܬ ܡܢ ܛܘܪܐ. ܘܣ̇ܡܬ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܠܘܚ̈ܐ ܒܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܥܒ̇ܕܬ. ܘܫܒ̇ܩܬ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܒܗ̇. ܐܝܟ ܕܦܩܕܢܝ ܡܪܝܐ.
6 'The Israelites left the wel s of the Bene-Jaakan for Moserah, where Aaron died; he was buried there,and his son Eleazar succeeded him in the priesthood.	6 ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܫܩܠܘ ܡܢ ܒܪܐܘܬ ܕܒܢ̈ܝ ܝܥܩܢ ܠܡܘܣܪܐ. ܬܡܢ ܡܝܬ ܐܗܪܘܢ ܘܐܬܩܒܪ ܬܡܢ. ܘܟܗܢ ܐܠܝܥܙܪ ܒܪܗ ܒܬܪܗ.
7 From there, they set out for Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah for Jotbathah, an area rich in streams.	7 ܘܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܫܩܠܘ ܠܓܕܓܕ ܘܡܢ ܓܕܓܕ ܠܝܛܒܬ. ܠܐܪܥܐ ܕܪ̈ܓܠܬܐ ܕܡ̈ܝܐ.
8 Yahweh then set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of Yahweh's covenant, to stand in thepresence of Yahweh, to serve him and to bless in his name, as they stil do today.	8 ܒܗ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗ̇ܘ. ܦܪܫ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܫܒܛܐ ܕܠܘܝ. ܕܢܫܩܘܠ ܩܒܘܬܐ ܕܩܝܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ. ܘܕܢܩܘܡ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܢܫܡܫܝܘܗܝ. ܘܢܒܪܟ ܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ.
9 This is why Levi has no share or heritage with his brothers: Yahweh is his heritage, as Yahweh yourGod then told him.	9 ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܠܝܬ ܗܘܬ ܠܠܘܝ. ܦܠܓܘܬܐ ܘܝܪܬܘܬܐ ܥܡ ܐܚ̈ܘܗܝ. ܡܪܝܐ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܝܪܬܘܬܗ. ܐܝܟ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ.
10 'And, as before, I stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights. And again Yahweh heardmy prayer and agreed not to destroy you.	10 ܘܐܢܐ ܩܡ̇ܬ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܛܘܪܐ. ܐܝܟ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܩܕܡ̈ܝܐ. ܐܪ̈ܒܥܝܢ ܐܝܡ̈ܡܝܢ ܘܐܪ̈ܒܥܝܢ ܠܝ̈ܠܘܢ. ܘܫܡܥܢܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܦ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗ̇ܘ. ܘܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܢܚܒܠܟ.
11 And Yahweh said to me, "Be on your way at the head of this people, so that they can go and takepossession of the country which I swore to their ancestors that I would give them."	11 ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܡܪܝܐ. ܩܘܡ ܫܩܘܠ ܘܙܠ ܩܕܡ ܥܡܐ. ܘܢܥܠܘܢ ܘܢܐܪܬܘܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܝܡ̇ܝܬ ܠܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ. ܠܡܬܠ ܠܗܘܢ.
12 'And now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God ask of you? Only this: to fear Yahweh your God, tofol ow all his ways, to love him, to serve Yahweh your God with al your heart and al your soul,	12 ܡܟܝܠ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢܐ ܫ̇ܐܠ ܠܟ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ. ܐܠܐ ܕܬܕܚܠ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ ܘܬܗܠܟ ܒܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ. ܘܬܪܚܡܝܘܗܝ ܘܬܦܠܘܚ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ ܡܢ ܟܠܗ ܠܒܟ ܘܡܢ ܟܠܗ̇ ܢܦܫܟ.
13 to keep the commandments and laws of Yahweh, which I am laying down for you today for your owngood.	13 ܘܬܛܪ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ . ܘܢܡ̈ܘܣܘܗܝ ܕܡܦܩܕ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܝܘܡܢܐ. ܘܢܛܐܒ ܠܟ.
14 'Look, to Yahweh your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth and everything onit;	14 ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܠܗܟ ܫܡܝܐ ܘܫ̈ܡܝ ܫܡܝܐ. ܘܐܪܥܐ ܘܟܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܗ̇.
15 yet it was on your ancestors, for love of them, that Yahweh set his heart to love them, and he chosetheir descendants after them, you yourselves, out of all nations, up to the present day.	15 ܘܒܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܨܒܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܪܚܡ ܐܢܘܢ. ܘܓܒܐ ܠܙܪܥܗܘܢ ܒܬܪܗܘܢ. ܡܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܝܘܡܢܐ.
16 Circumcise your heart then and be obstinate no longer;	16 ܓܙܘܪܘ ܥܘܪܠܘܬܐ ܕܠܒܟܘܢ. ܘܩܕܠܟܘܢ ܬܘܒ ܠܐ ܬܩܫܘܢ.
17 for Yahweh your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, triumphant and terrible, free of favouritism, never to be bribed.	17 ܡܛܠ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ. ܗܘܝܘ ܐܠܗ ܐ̈ܠܗܝܢ ܘܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ. ܐܠܗܐ ܪܒܐ ܘܓܢܒܪܐ ܘܕܚܝܠܐ. ܕܠܐ ܢ̇ܣܒ ܒܐ̈ܦܐ. ܘܠܐ ܡܩܒܠ ܫܘܚܕܐ.
18 He it is who sees justice done for the orphan and the widow, who loves the stranger and gives himfood and clothing.	18 ܘܥ̇ܒܕ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܝ̈ܬܡܐ ܘܕܐܪ̈ܡܠܬܐ. ܘܪܚ̇ܡ ܠܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܬܦܢܐ ܠܘܬܗ. ܘܝ̇ܗܒ ܠܗ ܠܚܡܐ ܘܬܟܣܝܬܐ.
19 (Love the stranger then, for you were once strangers in Egypt.)	19 ܪܚܡܘ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܦܢܝܢ ܠܘܬܗ. ܡܛܠ ܕܬܘ̈ܬܒܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ.
20 Yahweh your God is the one whom you must fear and serve; to him you must hold firm; in his nametake your oaths.	20 ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ ܕܚܠ. ܘܠܗ ܦܠܘܚ ܘܠܗ ܐܬܢܩܦ. ܘܒܫܡܗ ܝܡܝ.
21 Him you must praise, he is your God: for you he has done these great and terrible things which youhave seen for yourselves;	21 ܕܗܘܝܘ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܟ ܘܗܘܝܘ ܐܠܗܟ. ܕܥܒܕ ܥܡܟ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܬܐ ܘܕܚ̈ܝܠܬܐ ܕܚ̈ܙܝ ܥܝܢܝ̈ܟ.
22 and, although your ancestors numbered only seventy persons when they went down to Egypt,Yahweh your God has now made you as many as the stars of heaven.'	22 ܒܫܒܥܝܢ ܢܦܫܢ ܢܚܬܘ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܟ ܠܡܨܪܝܢ. ܘܗܫܐ ܗܐ ܐܣܓܝܟ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ. ܐܝܟ ܟ̈ܘܟܒܐ ܕܒܫܡܝܐ.
