Deuteronomy 10

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 'Yahweh then said to me, "Cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and come up to me on themountain. Make an ark of wood;	1 In quel tempo il Signore mi disse: « Tagliati due tavole di pietra simili alle prime e sali da me sul monte; fatti anche un'arca di legno,
2 on the tablets I shal inscribe the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; put them in theark."	2 e scritte che abbia su queste tavole le parole che erano su quelle da te spezzate, tu le metterai nell'arca ».
3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, cut two stone tablets like the first and went up the mountain with thetwo tablets in my hand.	3 Feci adunque un'arca di legno di setim, e, tagliate due tavole di pietra simili alle prime, portandole in mano, salii sul monte.
4 And he inscribed the tablets, as he had inscribed them before, with the Ten Words which Yahweh hadsaid to you on the mountain, from the heart of the fire, on the day of the Assembly. Yahweh then gave them tome.	4 E il Signore, scritte su queste tavole, come sulle prime, le dieci parole che vi rivolse sul monte, di mezzo al fuoco, quando il popolo era adunato, me le diede.
5 I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, and there theystayed, as Yahweh had commanded me.	5 E tornai, e sceso dal monte posi nell'arca che avevo fatta, le tavole, e vi sono tuttora, come il Signore mi ha comandato.
6 'The Israelites left the wel s of the Bene-Jaakan for Moserah, where Aaron died; he was buried there,and his son Eleazar succeeded him in the priesthood.	6 Or i figli d'Israele trasportarono il campo da Berot dei figli di lacan a Mosera, dove mori e fu sepolto Aronne, in luogo del quale esercitò le funzioni del sacerdozio Eleazaro suo figlio.
7 From there, they set out for Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah for Jotbathah, an area rich in streams.	7 Di là passarono a Gadgad, e partiti di lì, s'accamparono in Ietebata, terra di acque e di torrenti.
8 Yahweh then set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of Yahweh's covenant, to stand in thepresence of Yahweh, to serve him and to bless in his name, as they stil do today.	8 In quel tempo designò la tribù di Levi, perchè portasse l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore, stesse dinanzi a lui a ministrare, e nel nome suo benedicesse, come fa sino al presente.
9 This is why Levi has no share or heritage with his brothers: Yahweh is his heritage, as Yahweh yourGod then told him.	9 Per questo Levi non ebbe parte nè possessione coi suoi fratelli, perchè il Signore è la sua porzione, come gli promise il Signore Dio tuo.
10 'And, as before, I stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights. And again Yahweh heardmy prayer and agreed not to destroy you.	10 Ed io rimasi sul monte, come prima, per quaranta giorni e quaranta notti; e il Signore mi esaudì anche questa volta e decise di non sterminarti;
11 And Yahweh said to me, "Be on your way at the head of this people, so that they can go and takepossession of the country which I swore to their ancestors that I would give them."	11 anzi mi disse: « Va e mettiti in cammino alla testa del popolo per farlo entrare nel possesso della terra che io ai loro padri giurai di dar loro ».
12 'And now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God ask of you? Only this: to fear Yahweh your God, tofol ow all his ways, to love him, to serve Yahweh your God with al your heart and al your soul,	12 Ed ora, Israele, che chiede da te il Signore Dio tuo se non che tu tema il Signore Dio tuo, cammini nelle sue vie e lo ami, serva al Signore Dio tuo con tutto il tuo cuore e con tutta la tua anima,
13 to keep the commandments and laws of Yahweh, which I am laying down for you today for your owngood.	13 osservando i comandamenti del Signore e le sue cerimonie che oggi io ti prescrivo pel tuo bene?
14 'Look, to Yahweh your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth and everything onit;	14 Ecco al Signore Dio tuo appartengono il cielo dei cieli, la terra e tutte le cose che sono in essa;
15 yet it was on your ancestors, for love of them, that Yahweh set his heart to love them, and he chosetheir descendants after them, you yourselves, out of all nations, up to the present day.	15 eppure il Signore si unì strettamente ai tuoi padri, li amò e dopo loro scelse fra tutti i popoli la loro progenie, cioè voi, come oggi si vede.
16 Circumcise your heart then and be obstinate no longer;	16 Circoncidete adunque il vostro cuore, senza indurare più la vostra cervice; i
17 for Yahweh your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, triumphant and terrible, free of favouritism, never to be bribed.	17 perchè il Signore Dio vostro è il Dio degli dèi, il Signore dei dominanti, il Dio grande, possente e terribile, che non ha riguardi personali, non accetta doni;
18 He it is who sees justice done for the orphan and the widow, who loves the stranger and gives himfood and clothing.	18 una fa giustizia all'orfano e alla vedova, ama il forestiero egli dà vitto e vestito.
19 (Love the stranger then, for you were once strangers in Egypt.)	19 Voi pure dovete amare i forestieri, perchè anche voi foste forestieri nella terra d'Egitto.
20 Yahweh your God is the one whom you must fear and serve; to him you must hold firm; in his nametake your oaths.	20 Temi il Signore Dio tuo, servi a lui solo, stai a lui unito e giura nel suo nome.
21 Him you must praise, he is your God: for you he has done these great and terrible things which youhave seen for yourselves;	21 Egli è la tua gloria, il tuo Dio che ha fatto per te queste grandi e terribili cose che i tuoi occhi hanno vedute.
22 and, although your ancestors numbered only seventy persons when they went down to Egypt,Yahweh your God has now made you as many as the stars of heaven.'	22 I tuoi padri discesero in Egitto in numero di settanta persone; ed ecco che ora il Signore Dio tuo ti ha moltiplicato come le stelle del cielo.
