Deuteronomy 10

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 'Yahweh then said to me, "Cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and come up to me on themountain. Make an ark of wood;	1 En aquel tiempo, el Señor me dijo: «Talla dos tablas de piedra iguales a las primeras y sube a la montaña para encontrarte conmigo. Construye también un arca de madera.
2 on the tablets I shal inscribe the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; put them in theark."	2 Yo escribiré en esas tablas las mismas palabras que estaban escritas en las que tú rompiste. Después las depositarás en el arca».
3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, cut two stone tablets like the first and went up the mountain with thetwo tablets in my hand.	3 Hice un arca de madera de acacia, tallé dos tablas de piedra iguales a las primeras y subí a la montaña con las dos tablas en la mano.
4 And he inscribed the tablets, as he had inscribed them before, with the Ten Words which Yahweh hadsaid to you on the mountain, from the heart of the fire, on the day of the Assembly. Yahweh then gave them tome.	4 Entonces el Señor escribió en ellas lo mismo que había escrito antes: las diez Palabras que había promulgado en la montaña, desde el fuego, el día de la asamblea. Cuando me las entregó,
5 I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, and there theystayed, as Yahweh had commanded me.	5 yo me di vuelta, bajé de la montaña y deposité las tablas en el arca que había construido. Allí están todavía, como el Señor me lo ordenó.
6 'The Israelites left the wel s of the Bene-Jaakan for Moserah, where Aaron died; he was buried there,and his son Eleazar succeeded him in the priesthood.	6 Los israelitas partieron de los pozos de Bené Iaacán y se dirigieron hacia Moserá. Allí murió y fue enterrado Aarón, y su hijo Eleazar lo sucedió en el ejercicio del sacerdocio.
7 From there, they set out for Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah for Jotbathah, an area rich in streams.	7 Luego siguieron avanzando hasta Gudgodá, y de allí fueron a Jotbá, una región donde abundan los torrentes.
8 Yahweh then set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of Yahweh's covenant, to stand in thepresence of Yahweh, to serve him and to bless in his name, as they stil do today.	8 Entonces el Señor puso aparte a la tribu de Leví para que transportaba al Arca de la Alianza del Señor, para que estuviera en su presencia y lo sirviera, y para que bendijera en su Nombre, como lo ha venido haciendo hasta ahora.
9 This is why Levi has no share or heritage with his brothers: Yahweh is his heritage, as Yahweh yourGod then told him.	9 Por eso Leví no tiene parte ni herencia entre sus hermanos: el Señor es su herencia, como él mismo se lo ha declarado.
10 'And, as before, I stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights. And again Yahweh heardmy prayer and agreed not to destroy you.	10 Yo estuve en la montaña cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, como lo había estado la vez anterior, y también esa vez me escuchó el Señor. El no quiso destruirte,
11 And Yahweh said to me, "Be on your way at the head of this people, so that they can go and takepossession of the country which I swore to their ancestors that I would give them."	11 sino que me dijo: «Ve ahora mismo a ponerte al frente del pueblo, para que entren a tomar posesión de la tierra que juré dar a sus padres».
12 'And now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God ask of you? Only this: to fear Yahweh your God, tofol ow all his ways, to love him, to serve Yahweh your God with al your heart and al your soul,	12 Y ahora, Israel, esto es lo único que te pide el Señor, tu Dios: que lo temas y sigas todos sus caminos, que ames y sirvas al Señor, tu Dios, con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma.
13 to keep the commandments and laws of Yahweh, which I am laying down for you today for your owngood.	13 observando sus mandamientos y sus preceptos, que hoy te prescribo para tu bien.
14 'Look, to Yahweh your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth and everything onit;	14 Al Señor, tu Dios, pertenecen el cielo y lo más alto del cielo, la tierra y todo lo que hay en ella.
15 yet it was on your ancestors, for love of them, that Yahweh set his heart to love them, and he chosetheir descendants after them, you yourselves, out of all nations, up to the present day.	15 Sin embargo, sólo con tus padres se unió con lazos de amor, y después de ellos los eligió a ustedes, que son su descendencia, prefiriéndolos a todos los demás pueblos.
16 Circumcise your heart then and be obstinate no longer;	16 Por eso, circunciden sus corazones y no persistan en su obstinación,
17 for Yahweh your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, triumphant and terrible, free of favouritism, never to be bribed.	17 Porque el Señor, su Dios, es el Dios de los dioses y el Señor de los señores, el Dios grande, valeroso y temible, que no hace acepción de personas ni se deja sobornar.
18 He it is who sees justice done for the orphan and the widow, who loves the stranger and gives himfood and clothing.	18 El hace justicia al huérfano y a la viuda, ama al extranjero y le da ropa y alimento.
19 (Love the stranger then, for you were once strangers in Egypt.)	19 También ustedes amarán al extranjero, ya que han sido extranjeros en Egipto.
20 Yahweh your God is the one whom you must fear and serve; to him you must hold firm; in his nametake your oaths.	20 Teme al Señor, tu Dios, y sírvelo; vive unido a él y jura por su Nombre.
21 Him you must praise, he is your God: for you he has done these great and terrible things which youhave seen for yourselves;	21 El es tu gloria y tu Dios, y él realizó en tu favor esas tremendas hazañas de que fuiste testigo.
22 and, although your ancestors numbered only seventy persons when they went down to Egypt,Yahweh your God has now made you as many as the stars of heaven.'	22 Porque cuando tus padres bajaron a Egipto, eran apenas setenta personas, y ahora el Señor te ha hecho numeroso como las estrellas del cielo.
