Deuteronomy 10

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 'Yahweh then said to me, "Cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and come up to me on themountain. Make an ark of wood;	1 - Allora il Signore mi disse: - Tàgliati due tavole di pietra come eran le prime, e sali a me sul monte; farai un'arca di legno,
2 on the tablets I shal inscribe the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; put them in theark."	2 ed io scriverò sulle tavole i comandamenti che erano su quelle da te spezzate, e le riporrai nell'arca. -
3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, cut two stone tablets like the first and went up the mountain with thetwo tablets in my hand.	3 Feci pertanto un'arca di legno di setim, e dopo aver tagliato due tavole di pietra a modo delle prime, salii il monte portandole nelle mie mani.
4 And he inscribed the tablets, as he had inscribed them before, with the Ten Words which Yahweh hadsaid to you on the mountain, from the heart of the fire, on the day of the Assembly. Yahweh then gave them tome.	4 Ed il Signore, come aveva scritto prima, così scrisse su quelle tavole i dieci comandamenti che v'aveva banditi di sul monte, di mezzo al fuoco, quando il popolo stava adunato, e dette a me quelle tavole.
5 I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, and there theystayed, as Yahweh had commanded me.	5 Io tornato dal monte, e disceso, le deposi nell'arca da me fatta, dove sono anc'oggi, come mi aveva comandato il Signore.
6 'The Israelites left the wel s of the Bene-Jaakan for Moserah, where Aaron died; he was buried there,and his son Eleazar succeeded him in the priesthood.	6 I figli d'Israele allora trasportarono il campo da Berot de' figliuoli di Iacan in Mosera. Ivi Aronne morì e fu sepolto, ed in luogo suo servì nel sacerdozio Eleazaro suo figliuolo.
7 From there, they set out for Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah for Jotbathah, an area rich in streams.	7 Di lì vennero in Gadgad, da dove poi ripartiti s'accamparono in Ietebata, terra [ricca] d'acque e torrenti.
8 Yahweh then set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of Yahweh's covenant, to stand in thepresence of Yahweh, to serve him and to bless in his name, as they stil do today.	8 Allora [il Signore] si scelse la tribù di Levi, che portasse l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore, stesse dinanzi a lui nel servizio [divino], e nel nome di lui benedicesse, [come ha fatto] sino ad oggi.
9 This is why Levi has no share or heritage with his brothers: Yahweh is his heritage, as Yahweh yourGod then told him.	9 Per questo, [la tribù di] Levi non ebbe parte in possessione fra' suoi fratelli, perchè il Signore stesso è la sua possessione, come il Signore Dio tuo le ha promesso.
10 'And, as before, I stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights. And again Yahweh heardmy prayer and agreed not to destroy you.	10 Io dunque stetti come altra volta sul monte per quaranta dì e notti, ed il Signore m'esaudì anche questa volta, e non volle distruggerti.
11 And Yahweh said to me, "Be on your way at the head of this people, so that they can go and takepossession of the country which I swore to their ancestors that I would give them."	11 E mi disse: - Va', e cammina innanzi al popolo, acciò entri al possesso di quella terra che io ho giurato ai loro padri di dare. -
12 'And now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God ask of you? Only this: to fear Yahweh your God, tofol ow all his ways, to love him, to serve Yahweh your God with al your heart and al your soul,	12 Ed ora, Israele, che cosa chiede da te il Signore Dio tuo, se non che tu tema il Signore Dio tuo, e tu cammini per le sue vie, e tu lo ami, e tu serva il Signore Dio tuo con tutto il cuore e con tutta l'anima,
13 to keep the commandments and laws of Yahweh, which I am laying down for you today for your owngood.	13 e tu osservi i comandamenti del Signore e le sue prescrizioni, quali io oggi ti dò, affinchè bene ti venga?
14 'Look, to Yahweh your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth and everything onit;	14 Ecco, del Signore Dio tuo è il cielo, il cielo dei cieli, la terra, e tutto quello ch'è in essa;
15 yet it was on your ancestors, for love of them, that Yahweh set his heart to love them, and he chosetheir descendants after them, you yourselves, out of all nations, up to the present day.	15 eppure il Signore s'è stretto ai tuoi padri, e li ha amati, ed ha eletta la loro discendenza, che siete voi, di fra tutte le genti, come oggi si vede col fatto.
16 Circumcise your heart then and be obstinate no longer;	16 Circoncidete dunque il vostro cuore, e non più indurite la vostra testa;
17 for Yahweh your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, triumphant and terrible, free of favouritism, never to be bribed.	17 perchè il Signore Dio vostro egli è il Dio degl'iddii ed il Signore de' signori; Dio grande potente e terribile, che non guarda alla persona nè ai doni,
18 He it is who sees justice done for the orphan and the widow, who loves the stranger and gives himfood and clothing.	18 rende giustizia al pupillo ed alla vedova, ama il forestiero, e gli dà il vitto e il vestito.
19 (Love the stranger then, for you were once strangers in Egypt.)	19 Anche voi dunque amate i forestieri, perchè foste voi pure forestieri nella terra d'Egitto.
20 Yahweh your God is the one whom you must fear and serve; to him you must hold firm; in his nametake your oaths.	20 Temerai il Signore Dio tuo, ed a lui solo servirai; a lui ti stringerai, e nel nome di lui giurerai.
21 Him you must praise, he is your God: for you he has done these great and terrible things which youhave seen for yourselves;	21 È egli la tua gloria e il tuo Dio, che fece per te quelle cose grandi e terribili che i tuoi occhi han vedute.
22 and, although your ancestors numbered only seventy persons when they went down to Egypt,Yahweh your God has now made you as many as the stars of heaven.'	22 Quando i padri tuoi vennero in Egitto, erano settanta persone; ed ecco ora il Signore Dio tuo t'ha moltiplicato in numero come le stelle del cielo.
