Deuteronomy 10

1 'Yahweh then said to me, "Cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and come up to me on themountain. Make an ark of wood;	1 בעת ההוא אמר יהוה אלי פסל לך שני לוחת אבנים כראשנים ועלה אלי ההרה ועשית לך ארון עץ
2 on the tablets I shal inscribe the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; put them in theark."	2 ואכתב על הלחת את הדברים אשר היו על הלחת הראשנים אשר שברת ושמתם בארון
3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, cut two stone tablets like the first and went up the mountain with thetwo tablets in my hand.	3 ואעש ארון עצי שטים ואפסל שני לחת אבנים כראשנים ואעל ההרה ושני הלחת בידי
4 And he inscribed the tablets, as he had inscribed them before, with the Ten Words which Yahweh hadsaid to you on the mountain, from the heart of the fire, on the day of the Assembly. Yahweh then gave them tome.	4 ויכתב על הלחת כמכתב הראשון את עשרת הדברים אשר דבר יהוה אליכם בהר מתוך האש ביום הקהל ויתנם יהוה אלי
5 I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, and there theystayed, as Yahweh had commanded me.	5 ואפן וארד מן ההר ואשם את הלחת בארון אשר עשיתי ויהיו שם כאשר צוני יהוה
6 'The Israelites left the wel s of the Bene-Jaakan for Moserah, where Aaron died; he was buried there,and his son Eleazar succeeded him in the priesthood.	6 ובני ישראל נסעו מבארת בני יעקן מוסרה שם מת אהרן ויקבר שם ויכהן אלעזר בנו תחתיו
7 From there, they set out for Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah for Jotbathah, an area rich in streams.	7 משם נסעו הגדגדה ומן הגדגדה יטבתה ארץ נחלי מים
8 Yahweh then set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of Yahweh's covenant, to stand in thepresence of Yahweh, to serve him and to bless in his name, as they stil do today.	8 בעת ההוא הבדיל יהוה את שבט הלוי לשאת את ארון ברית יהוה לעמד לפני יהוה לשרתו ולברך בשמו עד היום הזה
9 This is why Levi has no share or heritage with his brothers: Yahweh is his heritage, as Yahweh yourGod then told him.	9 על כן לא היה ללוי חלק ונחלה עם אחיו יהוה הוא נחלתו כאשר דבר יהוה אלהיך לו
10 'And, as before, I stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights. And again Yahweh heardmy prayer and agreed not to destroy you.	10 ואנכי עמדתי בהר כימים הראשנים ארבעים יום וארבעים לילה וישמע יהוה אלי גם בפעם ההוא לא אבה יהוה השחיתך
11 And Yahweh said to me, "Be on your way at the head of this people, so that they can go and takepossession of the country which I swore to their ancestors that I would give them."	11 ויאמר יהוה אלי קום לך למסע לפני העם ויבאו וירשו את הארץ אשר נשבעתי לאבתם לתת להם
12 'And now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God ask of you? Only this: to fear Yahweh your God, tofol ow all his ways, to love him, to serve Yahweh your God with al your heart and al your soul,	12 ועתה ישראל מה יהוה אלהיך שאל מעמך כי אם ליראה את יהוה אלהיך ללכת בכל דרכיו ולאהבה אתו ולעבד את יהוה אלהיך בכל לבבך ובכל נפשך
13 to keep the commandments and laws of Yahweh, which I am laying down for you today for your owngood.	13 לשמר את מצות יהוה ואת חקתיו אשר אנכי מצוך היום לטוב לך
14 'Look, to Yahweh your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth and everything onit;	14 הן ליהוה אלהיך השמים ושמי השמים הארץ וכל אשר בה
15 yet it was on your ancestors, for love of them, that Yahweh set his heart to love them, and he chosetheir descendants after them, you yourselves, out of all nations, up to the present day.	15 רק באבתיך חשק יהוה לאהבה אותם ויבחר בזרעם אחריהם בכם מכל העמים כיום הזה
16 Circumcise your heart then and be obstinate no longer;	16 ומלתם את ערלת לבבכם וערפכם לא תקשו עוד
17 for Yahweh your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, triumphant and terrible, free of favouritism, never to be bribed.	17 כי יהוה אלהיכם הוא אלהי האלהים ואדני האדנים האל הגדל הגבר והנורא אשר לא ישא פנים ולא יקח שחד
18 He it is who sees justice done for the orphan and the widow, who loves the stranger and gives himfood and clothing.	18 עשה משפט יתום ואלמנה ואהב גר לתת לו לחם ושמלה
19 (Love the stranger then, for you were once strangers in Egypt.)	19 ואהבתם את הגר כי גרים הייתם בארץ מצרים
20 Yahweh your God is the one whom you must fear and serve; to him you must hold firm; in his nametake your oaths.	20 את יהוה אלהיך תירא אתו תעבד ובו תדבק ובשמו תשבע
21 Him you must praise, he is your God: for you he has done these great and terrible things which youhave seen for yourselves;	21 הוא תהלתך והוא אלהיך אשר עשה אתך את הגדלת ואת הנוראת האלה אשר ראו עיניך
22 and, although your ancestors numbered only seventy persons when they went down to Egypt,Yahweh your God has now made you as many as the stars of heaven.'	22 בשבעים נפש ירדו אבתיך מצרימה ועתה שמך יהוה אלהיך ככוכבי השמים לרב
