Mark 9

1 And he said to them, 'In truth I tel you, there are some standing here who wil not taste death beforethey see the kingdom of God come with power.'	1 Sei giorni dopo, Gesù prese con sè Pietro, Giacomo e Giovanni, li condusse soli in disparte, sopra un alto monte, e si trasfigurò in loro presenza.
2 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John and led them up a high mountain ontheir own by themselves. There in their presence he was transfigured:	2 E le sue vesti divennero sfolgoranti e candidissime come la neve; quali nessun tintore della terra sarebbe capace a fare.
3 his clothes became brilliantly white, whiter than any earthly bleacher could make them.	3 E loro apparvero Elia e Mosè a discorrere con Gesù.
4 Elijah appeared to them with Moses; and they were talking to Jesus.	4 E Pietro prese a dire a Gesù: Maestro, è bene per noi star qui: facciamo tre tende: una per te, una per Mosè, una per Elia.
5 Then Peter spoke to Jesus, 'Rabbi,' he said, 'it is wonderful for us to be here; so let us make threeshelters, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.'	5 Ma non sapeva quel che dicesse, tanto eran presi dallo spavento.
6 He did not know what to say; they were so frightened.	6 E si levò una nube, a involgerli, e dalla nube uscì una voce: Questo è il mio Figlio diletto: ascoltatelo.
7 And a cloud came, covering them in shadow; and from the cloud there came a voice, 'This is my Son,the Beloved. Listen to him.'	7 E a un tratto, guardatisi attorno, non videro se non il solo Gesù con loro.
8 Then suddenly, when they looked round, they saw no one with them any more but only Jesus.	8 E nel scendere dal monte, Gesù ordinò loro di non raccontar a nessuno quel che avevan visto, se non quando il Figlio dell'uomo fosse risuscitato da morte.
9 As they were coming down from the mountain he warned them to tel no one what they had seen, untilafter the Son of man had risen from the dead.	9 Ed essi tennero in sè la cosa domandandosi tra di loro che fosse mai quel risorgere dai morti.
10 They observed the warning faithful y, though among themselves they discussed what 'rising from thedead' could mean.	10 E gli domandarono: Perchè dunque i Farisei e gli Scribi dicono che prima deve venire Elia?
11 And they put this question to him, 'Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?'	11 Ed egli rispose loro: Elia devo venire prima a stabilire ogni cosa, come sta scritto del Figlio dell'uomo, che avrà da patire molto ed essere disprezzato.
12 He said to them, 'Elijah is indeed first coming to set everything right again; yet how is it that thescriptures say about the Son of man that he must suffer grievously and be treated with contempt?	12 Ma in quanto a Elia vi dico ch'è già venuto, e gli fecero quel che vollero, come di lui è scritto.
13 But I tel you that Elijah has come and they have treated him as they pleased, just as the scripturessay about him.'	13 E arrivato dai suoi discepoli vide gran turba che li circondarva e gli Scribi a disputar con loro.
14 As they were rejoining the disciples they saw a large crowd round them and some scribes arguing withthem.	14 E tutta la folla, appena veduto Gesù, stupì e piena di spavento corso a salutarlo.
15 At once, when they saw him, the whole crowd were struck with amazement and ran to greet him.	15 E domandò loro: Di che mai questionate fra voi?
16 And he asked them, 'What are you arguing about with them?'	16 Ed uno della folla gli rispose: Maestro, ti ho portato il mio figliolo che ha uno spirito muto.
17 A man answered him from the crowd, 'Master, I have brought my son to you; there is a spirit ofdumbness in him,	17 E quando lo invade, lo butta per terra; ed egli spuma e digrigna i denti e resta come morto: ho detto ai tuoi discepoli di cacciarlo, ma non han potuto.
18 and when it takes hold of him it throws him to the ground, and he foams at the mouth and grinds histeeth and goes rigid. And I asked your disciples to drive it out and they were unable to.'	18 E Gesù: O generazione incredula, fino a quando dovrò stare con voi? fino a quando vi sopporterò? Menatelo da me.
19 In reply he said to them, 'Faithless generation, how much longer must I be among you? How muchlonger must I put up with you? Bring him to me.'	19 E glielo condussero. E come lo vide Gesù, subito lo spirito lo contorse: onde caduto a terra si rotolava spumando.
20 They brought the boy to him, and at once the spirit of dumbness threw the boy into convulsions, andhe fel to the ground and lay writhing there, foaming at the mouth.	20 Domandò al padre di lui: Da quanto tempo ciò gli avviene? E quello rispose: Fin da bambino:
21 Jesus asked the father, 'How long has this been happening to him?' 'From childhood,' he said,	21 e spesso l'ha gettato nel fuoco e nell'acqua per finirlo; ma tu, se puoi qualche cosa, abbi pietà di noi e soccorrici.
22 'and it has often thrown him into fire and into water, in order to destroy him.	22 E Gesù gli rispose: Se puoi credere, tutto è possibile a chi crede.
23 But if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us.'	23 E subito, esclamando il padre del fanciullo, disse tra le lacrime: Io credo, o Signore, aiuta alla mia poca fede.
24 'If you can?' retorted Jesus. 'Everything is possible for one who has faith.' At once the father of the boycried out, 'I have faith. Help my lack of faith!'	24 E Gesù vedendo che la folla accorreva, sgridò lo spirito immondo e gli disse: Spirito sordo e muto, io te lo comando, esci da lui per non più entrarci.
25 And when Jesus saw that a crowd was gathering, he rebuked the unclean spirit. 'Deaf and dumbspirit,' he said, 'I command you: come out of him and never enter him again.'	25 E lo spirito gridando e straziandolo crudelmente uscì, e il fanciullo rimase qual morto, sicché molti dicevano: E' morto.
26 Then it threw the boy into violent convulsions and came out shouting, and the boy lay there so like acorpse that most of them said, 'He is dead.'	26 Ma Gesù presolo per mano, lo sollevò ed egli si rizzò.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him up, and he was able to stand.	27 Rientrato Gesù in casa, i discepoli in disparte lo interrogarono: Perchè non abbiamo potuto cacciarlo noi?
28 When he had gone indoors, his disciples asked him when they were by themselves, 'Why were weunable to drive it out?'	28 E rispose loro: Questa razza di demoni non può essere cacciata che per mezzo dell'orazione e del digiuno.
29 He answered, 'This is the kind that can be driven out only by prayer.'	29 E partiti di là, traversarono la Galilea e non voleva che lo sapessero.
30 After leaving that place they made their way through Galilee; and he did not want anyone to know,	30 Ammaestrando poi i suoi discepoli, diceva loro: Il Figlio dell'uomo sarà dato nelle mani degli uomini, e lo uccideranno, ma risusciterà tre giorni dopo esser stato ucciso.
31 because he was instructing his disciples; he was telling them, 'The Son of man wil be delivered intothe power of men; they will put him to death; and three days after he has been put to death he will rise again.'	31 Ma essi non capivano questo discorso, nò osavano interrogarlo.
32 But they did not understand what he said and were afraid to ask him.	32 E giunsero a Cafarnao; ed entrati in casa, domandò loro: Di che discorrevate per via?
33 They came to Capernaum, and when he got into the house he asked them, 'What were you arguingabout on the road?'	33 Ma essi tacevan perchè per istrada avevano questionato fra loro per sapere chi di essi fosse il più grande.
34 They said nothing, because on the road they had been arguing which of them was the greatest.	34 E sedutosi chiamò i dodici e disse loro: Se uno vuol essere il primo, sarà l'ultimo e il servitore di tutti.
35 So he sat down, called the Twelve to him and said, 'If anyone wants to be first, he must make himselflast of all and servant of all.'	35 E prese un fanciullo, lo pose in mezzo a loro, ed abbracciatolo, disse:
36 He then took a little child whom he set among them and embraced, and he said to them,	36 Chi accoglie uno di questi fanciulli in nome mio, accoglie me; e chi a accoglie me, non accoglie me, ma colui che mi ha mandato.
37 'Anyone who welcomes a little child such as this in my name, welcomes me; and anyone whowelcomes me, welcomes not me but the one who sent me.'	37 E Giovanni prese a dirgli: o Maestro, abbiam visto un tale , che non ci segue, scacciare i demoni in nome tuo, e glielo abbiamo proibito.
38 John said to him, 'Master, we saw someone who is not one of us driving out devils in your name, andbecause he was not one of us we tried to stop him.'	38 Ma Gesù disse loro: Non glielo proibite, perchè non c'è nessuno che faccia un prodigio in nome mio, e possa ad un tratto dir male di me.
39 But Jesus said, 'You must not stop him; no one who works a miracle in my name could soonafterwards speak evil of me.	39 Perchè chi non è contro di voi, è con voi.
40 Anyone who is not against us is for us.	40 E chi vi darà un bicchiere d'acqua in mio nome perchè siete di Cristo, vi dico in verità che non potrà perdere la sua ricompensa.
41 'If anyone gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, then in truth I tel you, he wilmost certainly not lose his reward.	41 E chi avrà scandalizzato uno di questi piccoli credenti in me direbbe meglio per lui, che gli fesse legata al collo una macina, e fosse gettato in mare.
42 'But anyone who is the downfal of one of these little ones who have faith, would be better thrown intothe sea with a great mil stone hung round his neck.	42 Se poi la tua mano ti scandalizza, mozzala; meglio per te entrare nella vita monco, piuttosto che andar con tutte e due le mani nell'inferno, nel fuoco inestinguibile,
43 And if your hand should be your downfal , cut it off; it is better for you to enter into life crippled, than tohave two hands and go to hel , into the fire thatnever be put out.	43 dove il loro verme non muore, e il fuoco non si estingue.
44	44 E se il tuo piede ti scandalizza, taglialo; è meglio per te giungere alla vita zoppo, piuttosto che essere gettato con tutti e due i piedi nell'inferno, al fuoco inestinguibile,
45 And if your foot should be your downfal , cut it off; it is better for you enter into life lame, than to havetwo feet and be thrown into hell.	45 dove il loro verme non muore e il fuoco non si estingue.
46	46 E se l'occhio tuo ti scandalizza, cavatolo; è meglio per te entrare con un occhio solo nel regno di Dio che essere gettato con tutti e due gli occhi nel fuoco dell'inferno,
47 And if your eye should be your downfal , tear it out; it is better for you to enter into the kingdom of Godwith one eye, than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell	47 dove il loro verme non muore e il fuoco non si estingue,
48 where their worm will never die nor their fire be put out.	48 Saran salati col fuoco come ogni vittima col sale.
49 For everyone wil be salted with fire.	49 Buono è il sale, ma se esso diventa scipito, con che lo salerete? Abbiate sale in voi, e state in pace gli uni cogli altri.
50 Salt is a good thing, but if salt has become insipid, how can you make it salty again? Have salt inyourselves and be at peace with one another.'
