Mark 9

1 And he said to them, 'In truth I tel you, there are some standing here who wil not taste death beforethey see the kingdom of God come with power.'	1 Diceva loro: «In verità io vi dico: vi sono alcuni, qui presenti, che non morranno prima di aver visto giungere il regno di Dio nella sua potenza».
2 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John and led them up a high mountain ontheir own by themselves. There in their presence he was transfigured:	2 Sei giorni dopo, Gesù prese con sé Pietro, Giacomo e Giovanni e li condusse su un alto monte, in disparte, loro soli. Fu trasfigurato davanti a loro
3 his clothes became brilliantly white, whiter than any earthly bleacher could make them.	3 e le sue vesti divennero splendenti, bianchissime: nessun lavandaio sulla terra potrebbe renderle così bianche.
4 Elijah appeared to them with Moses; and they were talking to Jesus.	4 E apparve loro Elia con Mosè e conversavano con Gesù.
5 Then Peter spoke to Jesus, 'Rabbi,' he said, 'it is wonderful for us to be here; so let us make threeshelters, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.'	5 Prendendo la parola, Pietro disse a Gesù: «Rabbì, è bello per noi essere qui; facciamo tre capanne, una per te, una per Mosè e una per Elia».
6 He did not know what to say; they were so frightened.	6 Non sapeva infatti che cosa dire, perché erano spaventati.
7 And a cloud came, covering them in shadow; and from the cloud there came a voice, 'This is my Son,the Beloved. Listen to him.'	7 Venne una nube che li coprì con la sua ombra e dalla nube uscì una voce: «Questi è il Figlio mio, l’amato: ascoltatelo!».
8 Then suddenly, when they looked round, they saw no one with them any more but only Jesus.	8 E improvvisamente, guardandosi attorno, non videro più nessuno, se non Gesù solo, con loro.
9 As they were coming down from the mountain he warned them to tel no one what they had seen, untilafter the Son of man had risen from the dead.	9 Mentre scendevano dal monte, ordinò loro di non raccontare ad alcuno ciò che avevano visto, se non dopo che il Figlio dell’uomo fosse risorto dai morti.
10 They observed the warning faithful y, though among themselves they discussed what 'rising from thedead' could mean.	10 Ed essi tennero fra loro la cosa, chiedendosi che cosa volesse dire risorgere dai morti.
11 And they put this question to him, 'Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?'	11 E lo interrogavano: «Perché gli scribi dicono che prima deve venire Elia?».
12 He said to them, 'Elijah is indeed first coming to set everything right again; yet how is it that thescriptures say about the Son of man that he must suffer grievously and be treated with contempt?	12 Egli rispose loro: «Sì, prima viene Elia e ristabilisce ogni cosa; ma, come sta scritto del Figlio dell’uomo? Che deve soffrire molto ed essere disprezzato.
13 But I tel you that Elijah has come and they have treated him as they pleased, just as the scripturessay about him.'	13 Io però vi dico che Elia è già venuto e gli hanno fatto quello che hanno voluto, come sta scritto di lui».
14 As they were rejoining the disciples they saw a large crowd round them and some scribes arguing withthem.	14 E arrivando presso i discepoli, videro attorno a loro molta folla e alcuni scribi che discutevano con loro.
15 At once, when they saw him, the whole crowd were struck with amazement and ran to greet him.	15 E subito tutta la folla, al vederlo, fu presa da meraviglia e corse a salutarlo.
16 And he asked them, 'What are you arguing about with them?'	16 Ed egli li interrogò: «Di che cosa discutete con loro?».
17 A man answered him from the crowd, 'Master, I have brought my son to you; there is a spirit ofdumbness in him,	17 E dalla folla uno gli rispose: «Maestro, ho portato da te mio figlio, che ha uno spirito muto.
18 and when it takes hold of him it throws him to the ground, and he foams at the mouth and grinds histeeth and goes rigid. And I asked your disciples to drive it out and they were unable to.'	18 Dovunque lo afferri, lo getta a terra ed egli schiuma, digrigna i denti e si irrigidisce. Ho detto ai tuoi discepoli di scacciarlo, ma non ci sono riusciti».
19 In reply he said to them, 'Faithless generation, how much longer must I be among you? How muchlonger must I put up with you? Bring him to me.'	19 Egli allora disse loro: «O generazione incredula! Fino a quando sarò con voi? Fino a quando dovrò sopportarvi? Portatelo da me».
20 They brought the boy to him, and at once the spirit of dumbness threw the boy into convulsions, andhe fel to the ground and lay writhing there, foaming at the mouth.	20 E glielo portarono. Alla vista di Gesù, subito lo spirito scosse con convulsioni il ragazzo ed egli, caduto a terra, si rotolava schiumando.
21 Jesus asked the father, 'How long has this been happening to him?' 'From childhood,' he said,	21 Gesù interrogò il padre: «Da quanto tempo gli accade questo?». Ed egli rispose: «Dall’infanzia;
22 'and it has often thrown him into fire and into water, in order to destroy him.	22 anzi, spesso lo ha buttato anche nel fuoco e nell’acqua per ucciderlo. Ma se tu puoi qualcosa, abbi pietà di noi e aiutaci».
23 But if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us.'	23 Gesù gli disse: «Se tu puoi! Tutto è possibile per chi crede».
24 'If you can?' retorted Jesus. 'Everything is possible for one who has faith.' At once the father of the boycried out, 'I have faith. Help my lack of faith!'	24 Il padre del fanciullo rispose subito ad alta voce: «Credo; aiuta la mia incredulità!».
25 And when Jesus saw that a crowd was gathering, he rebuked the unclean spirit. 'Deaf and dumbspirit,' he said, 'I command you: come out of him and never enter him again.'	25 Allora Gesù, vedendo accorrere la folla, minacciò lo spirito impuro dicendogli: «Spirito muto e sordo, io ti ordino, esci da lui e non vi rientrare più».
26 Then it threw the boy into violent convulsions and came out shouting, and the boy lay there so like acorpse that most of them said, 'He is dead.'	26 Gridando e scuotendolo fortemente, uscì. E il fanciullo diventò come morto, sicché molti dicevano: «È morto».
27 But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him up, and he was able to stand.	27 Ma Gesù lo prese per mano, lo fece alzare ed egli stette in piedi.
28 When he had gone indoors, his disciples asked him when they were by themselves, 'Why were weunable to drive it out?'	28 Entrato in casa, i suoi discepoli gli domandavano in privato: «Perché noi non siamo riusciti a scacciarlo?».
29 He answered, 'This is the kind that can be driven out only by prayer.'	29 Ed egli disse loro: «Questa specie di demòni non si può scacciare in alcun modo, se non con la preghiera».
30 After leaving that place they made their way through Galilee; and he did not want anyone to know,	30 Partiti di là, attraversavano la Galilea, ma egli non voleva che alcuno lo sapesse.
31 because he was instructing his disciples; he was telling them, 'The Son of man wil be delivered intothe power of men; they will put him to death; and three days after he has been put to death he will rise again.'	31 Insegnava infatti ai suoi discepoli e diceva loro: «Il Figlio dell’uomo viene consegnato nelle mani degli uomini e lo uccideranno; ma, una volta ucciso, dopo tre giorni risorgerà».
32 But they did not understand what he said and were afraid to ask him.	32 Essi però non capivano queste parole e avevano timore di interrogarlo.
33 They came to Capernaum, and when he got into the house he asked them, 'What were you arguingabout on the road?'	33 Giunsero a Cafàrnao. Quando fu in casa, chiese loro: «Di che cosa stavate discutendo per la strada?».
34 They said nothing, because on the road they had been arguing which of them was the greatest.	34 Ed essi tacevano. Per la strada infatti avevano discusso tra loro chi fosse più grande.
35 So he sat down, called the Twelve to him and said, 'If anyone wants to be first, he must make himselflast of all and servant of all.'	35 Sedutosi, chiamò i Dodici e disse loro: «Se uno vuole essere il primo, sia l’ultimo di tutti e il servitore di tutti».
36 He then took a little child whom he set among them and embraced, and he said to them,	36 E, preso un bambino, lo pose in mezzo a loro e, abbracciandolo, disse loro:
37 'Anyone who welcomes a little child such as this in my name, welcomes me; and anyone whowelcomes me, welcomes not me but the one who sent me.'	37 «Chi accoglie uno solo di questi bambini nel mio nome, accoglie me; e chi accoglie me, non accoglie me, ma colui che mi ha mandato».
38 John said to him, 'Master, we saw someone who is not one of us driving out devils in your name, andbecause he was not one of us we tried to stop him.'	38 Giovanni gli disse: «Maestro, abbiamo visto uno che scacciava demòni nel tuo nome e volevamo impedirglielo, perché non ci seguiva».
39 But Jesus said, 'You must not stop him; no one who works a miracle in my name could soonafterwards speak evil of me.	39 Ma Gesù disse: «Non glielo impedite, perché non c’è nessuno che faccia un miracolo nel mio nome e subito possa parlare male di me:
40 Anyone who is not against us is for us.	40 chi non è contro di noi è per noi.
41 'If anyone gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, then in truth I tel you, he wilmost certainly not lose his reward.	41 Chiunque infatti vi darà da bere un bicchiere d’acqua nel mio nome perché siete di Cristo, in verità io vi dico, non perderà la sua ricompensa.
42 'But anyone who is the downfal of one of these little ones who have faith, would be better thrown intothe sea with a great mil stone hung round his neck.	42 Chi scandalizzerà uno solo di questi piccoli che credono in me, è molto meglio per lui che gli venga messa al collo una macina da mulino e sia gettato nel mare.
43 And if your hand should be your downfal , cut it off; it is better for you to enter into life crippled, than tohave two hands and go to hel , into the fire thatnever be put out.	43 Se la tua mano ti è motivo di scandalo, tagliala: è meglio per te entrare nella vita con una mano sola, anziché con le due mani andare nella Geènna, nel fuoco inestinguibile.

45 And if your foot should be your downfal , cut it off; it is better for you enter into life lame, than to havetwo feet and be thrown into hell.	45 E se il tuo piede ti è motivo di scandalo, taglialo: è meglio per te entrare nella vita con un piede solo, anziché con i due piedi essere gettato nella Geènna.
46	46
47 And if your eye should be your downfal , tear it out; it is better for you to enter into the kingdom of Godwith one eye, than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell	47 E se il tuo occhio ti è motivo di scandalo, gettalo via: è meglio per te entrare nel regno di Dio con un occhio solo, anziché con due occhi essere gettato nella Geènna,
48 where their worm will never die nor their fire be put out.	48 dove il loro verme non muore e il fuoco non si estingue.
49 For everyone wil be salted with fire.	49 Ognuno infatti sarà salato con il fuoco.
50 Salt is a good thing, but if salt has become insipid, how can you make it salty again? Have salt inyourselves and be at peace with one another.'	50 Buona cosa è il sale; ma se il sale diventa insipido, con che cosa gli darete sapore? Abbiate sale in voi stessi e siate in pace gli uni con gli altri».
