1 Again he began to teach them by the lakeside, but such a huge crowd gathered round him that he gotinto a boat on the water and sat there. The whole crowd were at the lakeside on land.	1 E cominciò di nuovo a insegnare vicino al mare: e si raunò intorno a lui moltitudine di gente; dimodoché montato in una barca sedeva sul mare: e tutta quanta la turba stava in terra lungo la marina:
2 He taught them many things in parables, and in the course of his teaching he said to them,	2 E insegnava loro molte cose per via di parabole, e diceva loro secondo la sua maniera d'insegnare:
3 'Listen! Imagine a sower going out to sow.	3 Ponete mente: Ecco che il seminatore andò a seminare.
4 Now it happened that, as he sowed, some of the seed fell on the edge of the path, and the birds cameand ate it up.	4 E mentre seminava, parte (del seme) cadde lungo la strada, e venner gli uccelli dell'aria, e lo mangiarono.
5 Some seed fell on rocky ground where it found little soil and at once sprang up, because there was nodepth of earth;	5 Un'altra parte cascò in luogo sassoso, dove non trovò molta terra: e subito nacque, perché non aveva terren profondo:
6 and when the sun came up it was scorched and, not having any roots, it withered away.	6 Ma levatosi il sole, fu arso dal calore: e, perché non aveva barbicato, seccò.
7 Some seed fell into thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it produced no crop.	7 Un'altra parte cadde tra le spine, e cresciute le spine lo soffogarono, e non recò frutto.
8 And some seeds fell into rich soil, grew tal and strong, and produced a good crop; the yield was thirty,sixty, even a hundredfold.'	8 Altra cadde in buon terreno: e dette frutto, che venne su rigoglioso, e rese dove trenta per uno, dove sessanta, e dove cento.
9 And he said, 'Anyone who has ears for listening should listen!'	9 E diceva loro: Chi ha orecchie da intendere, intenda.
10 When he was alone, the Twelve, together with the others who formed his company, asked what theparables meant.	10 Ma quando egli fu solo, i dodici, che eran con lui, lo interrogarono sopra la parabola.
11 He told them, 'To you is granted the secret of the kingdom of God, but to those who are outsideeverything comes in parables,	11 Ed egli diceva loro: A voi è dato d'intendere il mistero del regno di Dio; ma per quelli, che sono fuora, tutto si fa per via di parabole:
12 so that they may look and look, but never perceive; listen and listen, but never understand; to avoidchanging their ways and being healed.'	12 Affinchè vedendo veggano, e non reggano: e udendo odano, e non intendano: perché non si convertano una volta, e sian loro rimessi i peccati.
13 He said to them, 'Do you not understand this parable? Then how will you understand any of theparables?	13 E disse loro: Non intendete questa parabola? e come intenderete tutte (le altre) parabole?
14 What the sower is sowing is the word.	14 Il seminatore è colui, che semina la parola.
15 Those on the edge of the path where the word is sown are people who have no sooner heard it thanSatan at once comes and carries away the word that was sown in them.	15 Quelli, che la semenza ricevono tango la strada, sono coloro, ne' quali viene seminata la parola: ma udita che l'hanno, vien tosto Satana, e porta via la parola seminata ne' loro cuori.
16 Similarly, those who are sown on patches of rock are people who, when first they hear the word,welcome it at once with joy.	16 Slmilmente quelli, che han ricevuto il seme in luoghi sassosi, sono coloro, che, udita la parola, subito l'abbracciano con allegrezza:
17 But they have no root deep down and do not last; should some trial come, or some persecution onaccount of the word, at once they fal away.	17 E non hanno in se radice; ma son di corta durata: e venata poi la tribolazione, e la persecuzione a motivo della parola, restano subito scandalizzati.
18 Then there are others who are sown in thorns. These have heard the word,	18 Quelli, che ricevono il seme tra le spine, sono coloro, i qaali ascoltano la parola:
19 but the worries of the world, the lure of riches and al the other passions come in to choke the word,and so it produces nothing.	19 Ma le sollecitudini del secolo, e le ingannevoli ricchezze, e gli altri disordinati affetti sopravvenendo soffocano la parola; ed ella rimane infruttuosa.
20 And there are those who have been sown in rich soil; they hear the word and accept it and yield aharvest, thirty and sixty and a hundredfold.'	20 Ma quelli, che il seme ricevono in buon terreno, sono coloro, i quali la parola ascoltano, e l'abbracciano, e portano frutto, chi il trenta, chi il sessanta e chi il cento per uno.
21 He also said to them, 'Is a lamp brought in to be put under a tub or under the bed? Surely to be put onthe lamp-stand?	21 E diceva loro: Forse che vien fuori la lucerna per essere messa sotto del moggio, o sotto al letto? non vien ella per esser posta sul candeliere?
22 For there is nothing hidden, but it must be disclosed, nothing kept secret except to be brought to light.	22 Imperocché non è cosa nascosta, che non abbia a manifestarsi: né che sia fatta per istare occulta, ma per uscire alla luce.
23 Anyone who has ears for listening should listen!'	23 Chi ha orecchie da intendere, intenda.
24 He also said to them, 'Take notice of what you are hearing. The standard you use wil be used for you-- and you wil receive more besides;	24 E diceva loro: Badate a quello, che udite. Con quella misura, colla quale avrete misurato, sarà rimisurato a voi, e con giunta.
25 anyone who has, will be given more; anyone who has not, wil be deprived even of what he has.'	25 Imperocché a colui, che ha sarà dato; ma a chi non ha, sarà tolto anche quello, che ha.
26 He also said, 'This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the land.	26 Diceva ancora: Il regno di Dio è, come se uno getta il seme sopra la terra.
27 Night and day, while he sleeps, when he is awake, the seed is sprouting and growing; how, he doesnot know.	27 E dorme, e si alza notte, e di: e il seme barbica, e cresce, mentr'ei noi sa,
28 Of its own accord the land produces first the shoot, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.	28 Imperocché la terra da se stessa produce prima l'erba, poi la spiga, indi nella spiga il pieno frumento.
29 And when the crop is ready, at once he starts to reap because the harvest has come.'	29 E formato che sia il frutto, tosto vi si mette la falce, perché è tempo di messe.
30 He also said, 'What can we say that the kingdom is like? What parable can we find for it?	30 E diceva ancora: A qual cosa assomiglieremo noi il regno di Dio? o con qual parabola lo figureremo?
31 It is like a mustard seed which, at the time of its sowing, is the smal est of al the seeds on earth.	31 Egli è come un granello di senapa, il quale, quando si semina in terra, è il minimo di tutti i semi, che sono al mondo.
32 Yet once it is sown it grows into the biggest shrub of them al and puts out big branches so that thebirds of the air can shelter in its shade.'	32 Ma seminato che è, si innalza, e diventa maggiore di tutti i legami, e fa gran rami; dimodoché gli uccelli dell'aria all'ombra di lui possono allargare.
33 Using many parables like these, he spoke the word to them, so far as they were capable ofunderstanding it.	33 E spiegava loro la parola con molte di queste parabole, secondo che potevano udire:
34 He would not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything to his disciples when theywere by themselves.	34 E non parlava a loro senza parabole; ma a solo a solo il tutto sponeva a' suoi discepoli.
35 With the coming of evening that same day, he said to them, 'Let us cross over to the other side.'	35 E lo stesso giorno, venuta la sera, disse loro: Passiamo all'altra riva.
36 And leaving the crowd behind they took him, just as he was, in the boat; and there were other boatswith him.	36 E licenziato il popolo, lo menarono, come stava nella barca: e altre barche ancora erano con esso.
37 Then it began to blow a great gale and the waves were breaking into the boat so that it was almostswamped.	37 E si levò gran bufera, la quale gettava le onde nella barca; dimodocè la barca si empiva.
38 But he was in the stern, his head on the cushion, asleep.	38 Ed egli se ne stava in poppa addormentato sopra un guanciate: e svegliano, e gli dicono: Maestro, a te cale, che noi andiamo in perdizione?
39 They woke him and said to him, 'Master, do you not care? We are lost!' And he woke up and rebukedthe wind and said to the sea, 'Quiet now! Be calm!' And the wind dropped, and there followed a great calm.	39 Ed egli alzatosi, sgridò il vento e disse al mare: Chetati, sta' zitto. E cessò il vento, e si fé' gran bonaccia.
40 Then he said to them, 'Why are you so frightened? Have you stil no faith?'	40 Ed egli disse loro: Perché temete? non avete pur ancò fede? Ed essi furono ripieni di timor grande, e dicevano l'uno all'altro: Chi è mai costui, cui e il vento, e il mare prestano ubbidienza?
41 They were overcome with awe and said to one another, 'Who can this be? Even the wind and the seaobey him.'
