NEW JERUSALEMSMITH VAN DYKE
After leaving there, he came into the territory of Judaea and Transjordan. And again crowds gatheredround him, and again he taught them, as his custom was.1 وقام من هناك وجاء الى تخوم اليهودية من عبر الاردن.
Some Pharisees approached him and asked, 'Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?' They wereputting him to the test.2
He answered them, 'What did Moses command you?'3 فاجاب وقال لهم بماذا اوصاكم موسى.
They replied, 'Moses al owed us to draw up a writ of dismissal in cases of divorce.'4
Then Jesus said to them, 'It was because you were so hard hearted that he wrote this commandmentfor you.5 فاجاب يسوع وقال لهم.
But from the beginning of creation he made them male and female.6
This is why a man leaves his father and mother,7
and the two become one flesh. They are no longer two, therefore, but one flesh.8 ويكون الاثنان جسدا واحدا.
So then, what God has united, human beings must not divide.'9
Back in the house the disciples questioned him again about this,10 ثم في البيت سأله تلاميذه ايضا عن ذلك.
and he said to them, 'Whoever divorces his wife and marries another is guilty of adultery against her.11 فقال لهم من طلّق امرأته وتزوج باخرى يزني عليها.
And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another she is guilty of adultery too.'12 وان طلّقت امرأة زوجها وتزوجت بآخر تزني
People were bringing little children to him, for him to touch them. The disciples scolded them,13 وقدموا اليه اولادا لكي يلمسهم.
but when Jesus saw this he was indignant and said to them, 'Let the little children come to me; do notstop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.14 فلما رأى يسوع ذلك اغتاظ وقال لهم دعوا الاولاد يأتون اليّ ولا تمنعوهم لان لمثل هؤلاء ملكوت الله.
In truth I tel you, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child wil never enterit.'15
Then he embraced them, laid his hands on them and gave them his blessing.16
He was setting out on a journey when a man ran up, knelt before him and put this question to him,'Good master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'17 وفيما هو خارج الى الطريق ركض واحد وجثا له وسأله ايها المعلّم الصالح ماذا اعمل لارث الحياة الابدية.
Jesus said to him, 'Why do you cal me good? No one is good but God alone.18
You know the commandments: You shal not kil ; You shal not commit adultery; You shal not steal; You shal not give false witness; You shal not defraud; Honour your father and mother.'19 انت تعرف الوصايا.
And he said to him, 'Master, I have kept al these since my earliest days.'20
Jesus looked steadily at him and he was fil ed with love for him, and he said, 'You need to do onething more. Go and sell what you own and give the money to the poor, and you wil have treasure in heaven;then come, fol ow me.'21 فنظر اليه يسوع واحبه وقال له يعوزك شيء واحد.
But his face fel at these words and he went away sad, for he was a man of great wealth.22
Jesus looked round and said to his disciples, 'How hard it is for those who have riches to enter thekingdom of God!'23
The disciples were astounded by these words, but Jesus insisted, 'My children,' he said to them, 'howhard it is to enter the kingdom of God!24 فتحيّر التلاميذ من كلامه.
It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for someone rich to enter thekingdom of God.'25
They were more astonished than ever, saying to one another, 'In that case, who can be saved?'26
Jesus gazed at them and said, 'By human resources it is impossible, but not for God: because forGod everything is possible.'27 فنظر اليهم يسوع وقال.
Peter took this up. 'Look,' he said to him, 'we have left everything and fol owed you.'28 وابتدأ بطرس يقول له ها نحن قد تركنا كل شيء وتبعناك.
Jesus said, 'In truth I tell you, there is no one who has left house, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children or land for my sake and for the sake of the gospel29 فاجاب يسوع وقال الحق اقول لكم ليس احد ترك بيتا او اخوة او اخوات او ابا او اما او امرأة او اولادا او حقولا لاجلي ولاجل الانجيل
who wil not receive a hundred times as much, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and land-- and persecutions too -- now in this present time and, in the world to come, eternal life.30 الا وياخذ مئة ضعف الآن في هذا الزمان بيوتا واخوة واخوات وامهات واولادا وحقولا مع اضطهادات وفي الدهر الآتي الحياة الابدية.
Many who are first wil be last, and the last, first.'31 ولكن كثيرون اولون يكونون آخرين والآخرون اولين
They were on the road, going up to Jerusalem; Jesus was walking on ahead of them; they were in adaze, and those who fol owed were apprehensive. Once more taking the Twelve aside he began to tel themwhat was going to happen to him,32 وكانوا في الطريق صاعدين الى اورشليم ويتقدمهم يسوع.
'Now we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man is about to be handed over to the chiefpriests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death and wil hand him over to the gentiles,33 ها نحن صاعدون الى اورشليم وابن الانسان يسلم الى رؤساء الكهنة والكتبة فيحكمون عليه بالموت ويسلمونه الى الامم
who wil mock him and spit at him and scourge him and put him to death; and after three days he wilrise again.'34 فيهزأون به ويجلدونه ويتفلون عليه ويقتلونه وفي اليوم الثالث يقوم
James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached him. 'Master,' they said to him, 'We want you todo us a favour.'35
He said to them, 'What is it you want me to do for you?'36 فقال لهما ماذا تريدان ان افعل لكما.
They said to him, 'Al ow us to sit one at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.'37
But Jesus said to them, 'You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I shaldrink, or be baptised with the baptism with which I shal be baptised?'38 فقال لهما يسوع لستما تعلمان ما تطلبان.
They replied, 'We can.' Jesus said to them, 'The cup that I shal drink you shal drink, and with thebaptism with which I shal be baptised you shal be baptised,39 فقالا له نستطيع.
but as for seats at my right hand or my left, these are not mine to grant; they belong to those to whomthey have been al otted.'40 واما الجلوس عن يميني وعن يساري فليس لي ان اعطيه الا للذين أعدّ لهم
When the other ten heard this they began to feel indignant with James and John,41
so Jesus cal ed them to him and said to them, 'You know that among the gentiles those they cal theirrulers lord it over them, and their great men make their authority felt.42 فدعاهم يسوع وقال لهم انتم تعلمون ان الذين يحسبون رؤساء الامم يسودونهم وان عظماءهم يتسلطون عليهم.
Among you this is not to happen. No; anyone who wants to become great among you must be yourservant,43
and anyone who wants to be first among you must be slave to all.44 ومن اراد ان يصير فيكم اولا يكون للجميع عبدا.
For the Son of man himself came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom formany.'45
They reached Jericho; and as he left Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus -- thatis, the son of Timaeus -- a blind beggar, was sitting at the side of the road.46 وجاءوا الى اريحا.
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and cry out, 'Son of David, Jesus, have pity on me.'47 فلما سمع انه يسوع الناصري ابتدأ يصرخ ويقول يا يسوع ابن داود ارحمني.
And many of them scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted al the louder, 'Son ofDavid, have pity on me.'48 فانتهره كثيرون ليسكت.
Jesus stopped and said, 'Cal him here.' So they cal ed the blind man over. 'Courage,' they said, 'getup; he is calling you.'49 فوقف يسوع وامر ان ينادى.
So throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and went to Jesus.50
Then Jesus spoke, 'What do you want me to do for you?' The blind man said to him, 'Rabbuni, let mesee again.'51
Jesus said to him, 'Go; your faith has saved you.' And at once his sight returned and he fol owed himalong the road.52
