NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 After leaving there, he came into the territory of Judaea and Transjordan. And again crowds gatheredround him, and again he taught them, as his custom was.	1 - Partito di là, Gesù andò nei confini della Giudea, oltre il Giordano, e il popolo si radunò di bel nuovo intorno a lui, che, come il solito, li ammaestrava.
2 Some Pharisees approached him and asked, 'Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?' They wereputting him to the test.	2 Vennero de' Farisei a muovergli interrogazioni e per metterlo alla prova gli chiesero se fosse lecito a un marito ripudiare la propria moglie.
3 He answered them, 'What did Moses command you?'	3 Egli domandò loro: «Cosa vi ha comandato Mosè?».
4 They replied, 'Moses al owed us to draw up a writ of dismissal in cases of divorce.'	4 Risposero: «Mosè ha permesso il libello del ripudio e di rinviarla».
5 Then Jesus said to them, 'It was because you were so hard hearted that he wrote this commandmentfor you.	5 Gesù replicò loro: «Fu per la durezza del vostro cuore che egli scrisse per voi questo precetto,
6 But from the beginning of creation he made them male and female.	6 ma al principio della creazione Dio li creò maschio e femmina.
7 This is why a man leaves his father and mother,	7 Perciò l'uomo abbandonerà suo padre e sua madre e si unirà con sua moglie,
8 and the two become one flesh. They are no longer two, therefore, but one flesh.	8 e saranno due in una sola carne. Essi pertanto non son più due, ma una carne sola.
9 So then, what God has united, human beings must not divide.'	9 L'uomo dunque non separi quel che Dio ha congiunto».
10 Back in the house the disciples questioned him again about this,	10 Quando furono in casa, i discepoli lo interrogarono di nuovo intorno allo stesso argomento,
11 and he said to them, 'Whoever divorces his wife and marries another is guilty of adultery against her.	11 ed egli disse loro: «Chi ripudia sua moglie e ne sposa un'altra, commette adulterio con questa;
12 And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another she is guilty of adultery too.'	12 e se una donna ripudia suo marito e ne sposa un altro, commette adulterio».
13 People were bringing little children to him, for him to touch them. The disciples scolded them,	13 Gli conducevan dei bambini perchè li toccasse, ma i discepoli sgridavano chi glieli presentava.
14 but when Jesus saw this he was indignant and said to them, 'Let the little children come to me; do notstop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.	14 Gesù, visto ciò, si sdegnò e disse loro: «Lasciate che i bambini vengano a me e non glielo impedite, perchè di questi è il regno di Dio.
15 In truth I tel you, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child wil never enterit.'	15 In verità vi dico che chi non avrà accolto il regno di Dio come un fanciullo non vi entrerà».
16 Then he embraced them, laid his hands on them and gave them his blessing.	16 E abbracciandoli e imponendo loro le mani li benedisse.
17 He was setting out on a journey when a man ran up, knelt before him and put this question to him,'Good master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'	17 Mentre egli usciva sulla strada venne un tale che, inginocchiatoglisi davanti, gli domandò: «Maestro buono, che devo fare per acquistare la vita eterna?».
18 Jesus said to him, 'Why do you cal me good? No one is good but God alone.	18 Gesù gli osservò: «Perchè mi chiami buono? Nessuno è buono, tranne Dio solo.
19 You know the commandments: You shal not kil ; You shal not commit adultery; You shal not steal;You shal not give false witness; You shal not defraud; Honour your father and mother.'	19 Conosci i comandamenti: "Non fornicare, non uccidere, non rubare, non attestare il falso, non frodare nessuno, onora tuo padre e tua madre"».
20 And he said to him, 'Master, I have kept al these since my earliest days.'	20 Quegli rispose: «Maestro, tutto ciò ho osservato fin dalla mia giovinezza».
21 Jesus looked steadily at him and he was fil ed with love for him, and he said, 'You need to do onething more. Go and sell what you own and give the money to the poor, and you wil have treasure in heaven;then come, fol ow me.'	21 Gesù guardandolo con tenerezza l'amò e gli disse: «Ti manca una cosa sola: va', vendi quanto hai e dallo ai poveri, e avrai un tesoro, nel cielo; poi vieni e seguimi».
22 But his face fel at these words and he went away sad, for he was a man of great wealth.	22 Ma colui, contristato da queste parole, se ne andò dolente, perchè aveva grandi ricchezze.
23 Jesus looked round and said to his disciples, 'How hard it is for those who have riches to enter thekingdom of God!'	23 Gesù, volgendo lo sguardo intorno, disse a' suoi discepoli: «Quanto difficilmente quei che posseggono ricchezze entreranno nel regno di Dio!».
24 The disciples were astounded by these words, but Jesus insisted, 'My children,' he said to them, 'howhard it is to enter the kingdom of God!	24 E i discepoli furono stupiti delle parole di lui. Ma Gesù di nuovo soggiunse loro: «Figliuoli, quanto è difficile per chi confida nelle ricchezze l'entrare nel regno di Dio!
25 It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for someone rich to enter thekingdom of God.'	25 È più facile che un cammello passi per la cruna d'un ago che un ricco entri nel regno di Dio».
26 They were more astonished than ever, saying to one another, 'In that case, who can be saved?'	26 Ora essi stupivano maggiormente e andavan dicendo tra di loro: «Chi può dunque salvarsi?».
27 Jesus gazed at them and said, 'By human resources it is impossible, but not for God: because forGod everything is possible.'	27 Gesù li guardò fissi ed esclamò: «Agli uomini questo è impossibile, ma non a Dio, perchè tutto è possibile a Dio».
28 Peter took this up. 'Look,' he said to him, 'we have left everything and fol owed you.'	28 Pietro prese a dirgli: «Ecco, noi abbiam lasciato tutto e ti abbiano seguito».
29 Jesus said, 'In truth I tell you, there is no one who has left house, brothers, sisters, mother, father,children or land for my sake and for the sake of the gospel	29 Gesù rispose: «In verità vi dico, nessuno ha abbandonato casa, o fratelli, o sorelle, o padre, o madre, o figli, o campi, per amor mio e per il Vangelo,
30 who wil not receive a hundred times as much, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and land-- and persecutions too -- now in this present time and, in the world to come, eternal life.	30 che non ne riceva il centuplo, adesso, in questo tempo, in case, fratelli, sorelle, madri, figli e campi, insieme con le persecuzioni e nel tempo avvenire la vita eterna.
31 Many who are first wil be last, and the last, first.'	31 Molti primi, saranno ultimi; e molti ultimi, primi».
32 They were on the road, going up to Jerusalem; Jesus was walking on ahead of them; they were in adaze, and those who fol owed were apprehensive. Once more taking the Twelve aside he began to tel themwhat was going to happen to him,	32 Essendo pertanto in cammino per salire a Gerusalemme, Gesù precedeva i discepoli, che stupiti e timorosi lo seguivano. Rivoltosi allora ai Dodici, cominciò a dir loro quanto gli doveva accadere:
33 'Now we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man is about to be handed over to the chiefpriests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death and wil hand him over to the gentiles,	33 «Ecco, noi saliamo a Gerusalemme, e il Figliuol dell'uomo sarà dato nelle mani dei principi dei Sacerdoti, degli Scribi e dei Seniori, i quali lo condanneranno a morte e lo daranno in mano ai Gentili;
34 who wil mock him and spit at him and scourge him and put him to death; and after three days he wilrise again.'	34 e sarà schernito, sputacchiato, flagellato e ucciso, ma dopo tre giorni risusciterà».
35 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached him. 'Master,' they said to him, 'We want you todo us a favour.'	35 Giacomo e Giovanni, figli di Zebedeo, gli s'accostaron e gli dissero: «Maestro, noi desideriamo che tu ci conceda quello che stiam per domandarti».
36 He said to them, 'What is it you want me to do for you?'	36 Egli chiese loro: «Che cosa desiderate che io vi conceda?».
37 They said to him, 'Al ow us to sit one at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.'	37 Risposero: «Concedici di sedere uno alla tua destra e l'altro alla tua sinistra, nella tua gloria».
38 But Jesus said to them, 'You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I shaldrink, or be baptised with the baptism with which I shal be baptised?'	38 Ma Gesù disse loro: «Non sapete ciò che domandate. Potete voi bere il calice che bevo io o essere battezzati col battesimo col quale son battezzato io?».
39 They replied, 'We can.' Jesus said to them, 'The cup that I shal drink you shal drink, and with thebaptism with which I shal be baptised you shal be baptised,	39 Essi gli replicarono: «Sì, lo possiamo». «Voi» rispose Gesù «berrete certamente il calice che bevo io e sarete battezzati col battesimo col quale sono battezzato io;
40 but as for seats at my right hand or my left, these are not mine to grant; they belong to those to whomthey have been al otted.'	40 ma quanto al sedere alla mia destra o alla mia sinistra, non sta a me il concedervelo; ma esso è per quelli ai quali è stato preparato».
41 When the other ten heard this they began to feel indignant with James and John,	41 Gli altri dieci, udito ciò, cominciarono a indignarsi contro Giacomo e Giovanni.
42 so Jesus cal ed them to him and said to them, 'You know that among the gentiles those they cal theirrulers lord it over them, and their great men make their authority felt.	42 Allora Gesù, chiamatili a sè, disse loro: «Voi sapete che quelli che sono riconosciuti come principi delle nazioni, le signoreggiano e i loro grandi esercitano il potere su di loro.
43 Among you this is not to happen. No; anyone who wants to become great among you must be yourservant,	43 Ma non deve essere così tra voi; chiunque vorrà essere grande tra voi, sarà vostro servo;
44 and anyone who wants to be first among you must be slave to all.	44 e chiunque tra voi vorrà essere primo, sarà servo di tutti;
45 For the Son of man himself came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom formany.'	45 perchè anche il Figliuol dell'uomo è venuto non per esser servito, ma per servire e dare la sua vita come redenzione per molti».
46 They reached Jericho; and as he left Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus -- thatis, the son of Timaeus -- a blind beggar, was sitting at the side of the road.	46 Arrivarono così a Gerico. Mentre egli usciva da Gerico co' suoi discepoli e con molta gente, il figlio di Timeo, Bartimeo, che era cieco e, seduto sulla strada, chiedeva l'elemosina,
47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and cry out, 'Son of David, Jesus,have pity on me.'	47 sentito dire che c'era Gesù di Nazaret, si pose a gridare: «Gesù, figlio di David, abbi pietà di me!».
48 And many of them scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted al the louder, 'Son ofDavid, have pity on me.'	48 Molti gli davan sulla voce perchè tacesse; ma quegli gridava molto più forte: «Figlio di David, abbi pietà di me!».
49 Jesus stopped and said, 'Cal him here.' So they cal ed the blind man over. 'Courage,' they said, 'getup; he is calling you.'	49 Allora Gesù, fermatosi comandò di chiamarlo. Ed essi lo chiamarono, dicendogli: «Fatti coraggio; alzati, egli ti chiama!».
50 So throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and went to Jesus.	50 Il cieco, gettando via il mantello, balzò in piedi e venne a Gesù,
51 Then Jesus spoke, 'What do you want me to do for you?' The blind man said to him, 'Rabbuni, let mesee again.'	51 che gli disse: «Che vuoi ch'io faccia?». Il cieco gli rispose: «Maestro, che io veda».
52 Jesus said to him, 'Go; your faith has saved you.' And at once his sight returned and he fol owed himalong the road.	52 Gesù gli replicò: «Va', la tua fede ti ha salvato». E in quell'istante vide e cominciò a seguir Gesù per via.
