1 After leaving there, he came into the territory of Judaea and Transjordan. And again crowds gatheredround him, and again he taught them, as his custom was.	1 Poi, partitosi di là, Gesù andò nei confini della Giudea, oltre il Giordano; e di nuovo gli si radunarono intorno le turbe, e di nuovo come soleva, li ammaestrava.
2 Some Pharisees approached him and asked, 'Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?' They wereputting him to the test.	2 Ed accostatisi dei Farisei per tentarlo, gli domandarono se fosse lecito al marito di ripudiar la moglie.
3 He answered them, 'What did Moses command you?'	3 Ma egli rispose loro: Che v'ha comandato Mose?
4 They replied, 'Moses al owed us to draw up a writ of dismissal in cases of divorce.'	4 Risposero: Mosè ha permesso di scrivere il libello del ripudio e di rimandarla.
5 Then Jesus said to them, 'It was because you were so hard hearted that he wrote this commandmentfor you.	5 E Gesù replicò loro: Per la durezza del vostro cuore vi dette questo precetto.
6 But from the beginning of creation he made them male and female.	6 Ma al principio della creazione maschio e femmina li creò Dio.
7 This is why a man leaves his father and mother,	7 Perciò l'uomo lascerà padre e madre e starà unito alla moglie:
8 and the two become one flesh. They are no longer two, therefore, but one flesh.	8 e i due saranno una sola carne. Onde non sono più due, ma una sola carne.
9 So then, what God has united, human beings must not divide.'	9 L'uomo per tanto non divida ciò che Dio ha congiunto.
10 Back in the house the disciples questioned him again about this,	10 Ed in casa i discepoli di nuovo lo interrogarono riguardo alla medesima cosa.
11 and he said to them, 'Whoever divorces his wife and marries another is guilty of adultery against her.	11 E disse loro: Chi ripudia la moglie, e ne sposa un'altra, commette adulterio con questa.
12 And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another she is guilty of adultery too.'	12 E se la moglie, ripudiato il marito, sposa un altro, è adultera.
13 People were bringing little children to him, for him to touch them. The disciples scolded them,	13 E gli presentarono dei bambini, perchè li toccasse, ma i discepoli sgridarono coloro che li presentavano.
14 but when Jesus saw this he was indignant and said to them, 'Let the little children come to me; do notstop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.	14 Cìò veduto Gesù, indignatosi, disse loro: Lasciate venire a me i bambini e non glielo impedite, perchè di tali è il regno di Dio.
15 In truth I tel you, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child wil never enterit.'	15 Vi dico in verità che chi non riceverà il regno di Dio come un fanciullo non c'entrerà.
16 Then he embraced them, laid his hands on them and gave them his blessing.	16 E abbracciatili e imposte loro le mani, li benedisse.
17 He was setting out on a journey when a man ran up, knelt before him and put this question to him,'Good master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'	17 Or come fu nella via, un tale accorse e inginocchiatosi, domandò: Buon Maestro, che debbo fare per ottenere la vita eterna?
18 Jesus said to him, 'Why do you cal me good? No one is good but God alone.	18 Ma Gesù gli disse: Perchè mi chiami buono? Non è buono che Dio solo.
19 You know the commandments: You shal not kil ; You shal not commit adultery; You shal not steal;You shal not give false witness; You shal not defraud; Honour your father and mother.'	19 Tu sai i comandamenti: Non fare adulterio, non ammazzare, non rubare, non attestale il falso, non frodare alcuno, onora tuo padre e tua madre.
20 And he said to him, 'Master, I have kept al these since my earliest days.'	20 E colui rispose: Maestro, tutte queste cose le ho osservate fin dalla mia giovinezza.
21 Jesus looked steadily at him and he was fil ed with love for him, and he said, 'You need to do onething more. Go and sell what you own and give the money to the poor, and you wil have treasure in heaven;then come, fol ow me.'	21 E Gesù, riguardatolo con amore, gli disse: Ti manca una cosa: Va', vendi quanto hai e dàllo ai poveri, e ne avrai un tesoro nel cielo, poi vieni e seguimi.
22 But his face fel at these words and he went away sad, for he was a man of great wealth.	22 Contristato da queste parole, quello se ne andò afflitto, perché aveva molte ricchezze.
23 Jesus looked round and said to his disciples, 'How hard it is for those who have riches to enter thekingdom of God!'	23 E Gesù dato intorno uno sguardo disse ai suoi discepoli: Quanto difficilmente entreranno nel regno di Dio i ricchi.
24 The disciples were astounded by these words, but Jesus insisted, 'My children,' he said to them, 'howhard it is to enter the kingdom of God!	24 E i discepoli sbigottivano a queste sue parole. Ma Gesù di nuovo replicò: Figliolini, quanto è diffìcile per chi confida nelle ricchezze entrare nel regno di Dio!
25 It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for someone rich to enter thekingdom of God.'	25 E' più facile che un cammello passi per una cruna d'ago, che un ricco entri nel regno di Dio.
26 They were more astonished than ever, saying to one another, 'In that case, who can be saved?'	26 Ed essi vieppiù stupivano e dicevano dentro di loro: Allora chi mai può salvarsi?
27 Jesus gazed at them and said, 'By human resources it is impossible, but not for God: because forGod everything is possible.'	27 E Gesù, riguardatili, disse: Agli uomini questo è impossibile; ma non a Dio; chè tutto a, lui è possibile.
28 Peter took this up. 'Look,' he said to him, 'we have left everything and fol owed you.'	28 E Pietro prese a dirgli: Ecco noi abbiamo lasciato tutto e ti abbiamo seguito.
29 Jesus said, 'In truth I tell you, there is no one who has left house, brothers, sisters, mother, father,children or land for my sake and for the sake of the gospel	29 E Gesù rispose: In verità vi dico: non vi è nessuno il quale, dopo aver lasciata casa, o fratelli, o sorelle, o padre, o madre, o figli, o campi per me e pel Vangelo,
30 who wil not receive a hundred times as much, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and land-- and persecutions too -- now in this present time and, in the world to come, eternal life.	30 non riceva il centuplo, ora in questo tempo, in case, e fratelli, e sorelle, e madre, e figli, e campi, in mezzo alle persecuzioni: e nel secolo futuro la vita eterna.
31 Many who are first wil be last, and the last, first.'	31 Però molti dei primi saranno gli ultimi, e degli ultimi i primi.
32 They were on the road, going up to Jerusalem; Jesus was walking on ahead of them; they were in adaze, and those who fol owed were apprehensive. Once more taking the Twelve aside he began to tel themwhat was going to happen to him,	32 Erano frattanto in via per salire a Gerusalemme, e Gesù precedeva i discepoli, che maravigliati e timorosi lo seguivano. E Gesù, tratti di nuovo in disparte i dodici, prese a dir loro quanto gli doveva accadere:
33 'Now we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man is about to be handed over to the chiefpriests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death and wil hand him over to the gentiles,	33 Ecco, ascendiamo a Gerusalemme, e il Figlio dell'uomo sarà dato nelle mani dei principi dei sacerdoti, degli Scribi e degli anziani e lo condanneranno a morte e lo consegne anno ai gentili;
34 who wil mock him and spit at him and scourge him and put him to death; and after three days he wilrise again.'	34 e lo scherniranno. Gli sputeranno addosso e lo flagelleranno e uccideranno, ma risusciterà dopo tre giorni.
35 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached him. 'Master,' they said to him, 'We want you todo us a favour.'	35 E si avvicinano a lui Giacomo e Giovanni, figli di Z
36 He said to them, 'What is it you want me to do for you?'	36 E disse loro: Che volete che vi faccia?
37 They said to him, 'Al ow us to sit one at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.'	37 Risposero: Concedici di sedere uno alla tua destra e l'altro alla tua sinistra nella tua gloria.
38 But Jesus said to them, 'You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I shaldrink, or be baptised with the baptism with which I shal be baptised?'	38 Ma Gesù disse loro: Non sapete quel che domandate. Potete bere il calice che io bevo, ed essere battezzati col battesimo ond'io son battezzato?
39 They replied, 'We can.' Jesus said to them, 'The cup that I shal drink you shal drink, and with thebaptism with which I shal be baptised you shal be baptised,	39 Sì, gli replicarono, lo pos­siamo. Ma Gesù disse loro: Voi, sì, berrete il calice ch'io bevo e sarete battezzati col battesimo ond'io son battezzato;
40 but as for seats at my right hand or my left, these are not mine to grant; they belong to those to whomthey have been al otted.'	40 ma quanto a sedermi a destra od a sinistra non sta a me il concedervelo, ma è per quelli cui è stato preparato.
41 When the other ten heard this they began to feel indignant with James and John,	41 Udito questo, gli altri dieci cominciarono a indignarsi di Giacomo e Giovanni.
42 so Jesus cal ed them to him and said to them, 'You know that among the gentiles those they cal theirrulers lord it over them, and their great men make their authority felt.	42 Allora Gesù chiamatili a sè, disse loro: Sapete che quelli riputati principi delle nazioni, le signoreggiano, e i loro grandi hanno su di esse potere.
43 Among you this is not to happen. No; anyone who wants to become great among you must be yourservant,	43 Ma non così tra voi. Anzi chi vorrà tra voi diventare grande, sarà vostro ministro,
44 and anyone who wants to be first among you must be slave to all.	44 e chi vorrà essere il primo tra voi, sarà servo di tutti.
45 For the Son of man himself came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom formany.'	45 Infatti, anche il Figlio de il'uomo non è venuto per essere servito, ma per servire, e per dare la sua vita a redenzione di molti.
46 They reached Jericho; and as he left Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus -- thatis, the son of Timaeus -- a blind beggar, was sitting at the side of the road.	46 E arrivarono a Gerico. E mentre egli, con i suoi discepoli e con molta gente, partiva da Gerico, un cieco, Bartimeo, figlio di Timeo, sedeva nella strada a mendicare.
47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and cry out, 'Son of David, Jesus,have pity on me.'	47 Costui, avendo sentito che c'era Gesù Nazareno, si mise a gridare: Gesù, Figlio di David, abbi pietà di me.
48 And many of them scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted al the louder, 'Son ofDavid, have pity on me.'	48 E molti lo sgridavano, perchè tacesse. E quello invece più forte che mai gridava: Figlio di David, abbi pietà di me.
49 Jesus stopped and said, 'Cal him here.' So they cal ed the blind man over. 'Courage,' they said, 'getup; he is calling you.'	49 E Gesù fermatosi, ordinò che fosse chiamato. E chiamano il cieco dicendogli: Fatti animo, alzati che ti chiama.
50 So throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and went to Jesus.	50 E il cieco, gettato via il mantello, balzato in piedi, corse da Gesù.
51 Then Jesus spoke, 'What do you want me to do for you?' The blind man said to him, 'Rabbuni, let mesee again.'	51 E Gesù voltosi a lui, gli disse: Che vuoi ch'io ti faccia? E il cieco: Maestro, ch'io veda!
52 Jesus said to him, 'Go; your faith has saved you.' And at once his sight returned and he fol owed himalong the road.	52 E Gesù gli disse: Va', la tua fede ti ha salvato. E subito ricuperò la vista e lo seguiva per la strada.
