Mark 10

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 After leaving there, he came into the territory of Judaea and Transjordan. And again crowds gatheredround him, and again he taught them, as his custom was.	1 Después que partió de allí, Jesús fue a la región de Judea y al otro lado del Jordán. Se reunió nuevamente la multitud alrededor de él y, como de costumbre, les estuvo enseñando una vez más.
2 Some Pharisees approached him and asked, 'Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?' They wereputting him to the test.	2 Se acercaron algunos fariseos y, para ponerlo a prueba, le plantearon esta cuestión: «¿Es lícito al hombre divorciarse de su mujer?».
3 He answered them, 'What did Moses command you?'	3 El les respondió: «¿Qué es lo que Moisés les ha ordenado?».
4 They replied, 'Moses al owed us to draw up a writ of dismissal in cases of divorce.'	4 Ellos dijeron: «Moisés permitió redactar una declaración de divorcio y separarse de ella».
5 Then Jesus said to them, 'It was because you were so hard hearted that he wrote this commandmentfor you.	5 Entonces Jesús les respondió: «Si Moisés les dio esta prescripción fue debido a la dureza del corazón de ustedes.
6 But from the beginning of creation he made them male and female.	6 Pero desde el principio de la creación, Dios los hizo varón y mujer.
7 This is why a man leaves his father and mother,	7 Por eso, el hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre.
8 and the two become one flesh. They are no longer two, therefore, but one flesh.	8 y los dos no serán sino una sola carne. De manera que ya no son dos, sino una sola carne.
9 So then, what God has united, human beings must not divide.'	9 Que el hombre no separe lo que Dios ha unido».
10 Back in the house the disciples questioned him again about this,	10 Cuando regresaron a la casa, los discípulos le volvieron a preguntar sobre esto.
11 and he said to them, 'Whoever divorces his wife and marries another is guilty of adultery against her.	11 El les dijo: «El que se divorcia de su mujer y se casa con otra, comete adulterio contra aquella;
12 And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another she is guilty of adultery too.'	12 y si una mujer se divorcia de su marido y se casa con otro, también comete adulterio».
13 People were bringing little children to him, for him to touch them. The disciples scolded them,	13 Le trajeron entonces a unos niños para que los tocara, pero los discípulos los reprendieron.
14 but when Jesus saw this he was indignant and said to them, 'Let the little children come to me; do notstop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.	14 Al ver esto, Jesús se enojó y les dijo: «Dejen que los niños se acerquen a mí y no se lo impidan, porque el Reino de Dios pertenece a los que son como ellos.
15 In truth I tel you, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child wil never enterit.'	15 Les aseguro que el que no recibe el Reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él».
16 Then he embraced them, laid his hands on them and gave them his blessing.	16 Después los abrazó y los bendijo, imponiéndoles las manos
17 He was setting out on a journey when a man ran up, knelt before him and put this question to him,'Good master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?'	17 Cuando se puso en camino, un hombre corrió hacia él y, arrodillándose, le preguntó: «Maestro bueno, ¿qué debo hacer para heredar la Vida eterna?».
18 Jesus said to him, 'Why do you cal me good? No one is good but God alone.	18 Jesús le dijo: «¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Sólo Dios es bueno.
19 You know the commandments: You shal not kil ; You shal not commit adultery; You shal not steal;You shal not give false witness; You shal not defraud; Honour your father and mother.'	19 Tú conoces los mandamientos: No matarás, no cometerás adulterio, no robarás, no darás falso testimonio, no perjudicarás a nadie, honra a tu padre y a tu madre».
20 And he said to him, 'Master, I have kept al these since my earliest days.'	20 El hombre le respondió: «Maestro, todo eso lo he cumplido desde mi juventud».
21 Jesus looked steadily at him and he was fil ed with love for him, and he said, 'You need to do onething more. Go and sell what you own and give the money to the poor, and you wil have treasure in heaven;then come, fol ow me.'	21 Jesús lo miró con amor y le dijo: «Sólo te falta una cosa: ve, vende lo que tienes y dalo a los pobres; así tendrás un tesoro en el cielo. Después, ven y sígueme».
22 But his face fel at these words and he went away sad, for he was a man of great wealth.	22 El, al oír estas palabras, se entristeció y se fue apenado, porque poseía muchos bienes.
23 Jesus looked round and said to his disciples, 'How hard it is for those who have riches to enter thekingdom of God!'	23 Entonces Jesús, mirando alrededor, dijo a sus discípulos: «¡Qué difícil será para los ricos entrar en el Reino de Dios!».
24 The disciples were astounded by these words, but Jesus insisted, 'My children,' he said to them, 'howhard it is to enter the kingdom of God!	24 Los discípulos se sorprendieron por estas palabras, pero Jesús continuó diciendo: «Hijos míos, ¡Qué difícil es entrar en el Reino de Dios!.
25 It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for someone rich to enter thekingdom of God.'	25 Es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja, que un rico entre en el Reino de Dios».
26 They were more astonished than ever, saying to one another, 'In that case, who can be saved?'	26 Los discípulos se asombraron aún más y se preguntaban unos a otros: «Entonces, ¿quién podrá salvarse?».
27 Jesus gazed at them and said, 'By human resources it is impossible, but not for God: because forGod everything is possible.'	27 Jesús, fijando en ellos su mirada, les dijo: «Para los hombres es imposible, pero no para Dios, porque para él todo es posible».
28 Peter took this up. 'Look,' he said to him, 'we have left everything and fol owed you.'	28 Pedro le dijo: «Tú sabes que nosotros lo hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido».
29 Jesus said, 'In truth I tell you, there is no one who has left house, brothers, sisters, mother, father,children or land for my sake and for the sake of the gospel	29 Jesús respondió: «Les aseguro que el que haya dejado casa, hermanos y hermanas, madre y padre, hijos o campos por mí y por la Buena Noticia,
30 who wil not receive a hundred times as much, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and land-- and persecutions too -- now in this present time and, in the world to come, eternal life.	30 desde ahora, en este mundo, recibirá el ciento por uno en casas, hermanos y hermanas, madres, hijos, campos, en medio de las persecuciones; y en el mundo futuro recibirá la Vida eterna.
31 Many who are first wil be last, and the last, first.'	31 Muchos de los primeros serán los últimos y los últimos serán los primeros».
32 They were on the road, going up to Jerusalem; Jesus was walking on ahead of them; they were in adaze, and those who fol owed were apprehensive. Once more taking the Twelve aside he began to tel themwhat was going to happen to him,	32 Mientras iban de camino para subir a Jerusalén, Jesús se adelantaba a sus discípulos; ellos estaban asombrados y los que lo seguían tenían miedo. Entonces reunió nuevamente a los Doce y comenzó a decirles lo que le iba a suceder:
33 'Now we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man is about to be handed over to the chiefpriests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death and wil hand him over to the gentiles,	33 «Ahora subimos a Jerusalén; allí el Hijo del hombre será entregado a los sumos sacerdotes y a los escribas. Lo condenarán a muerte y lo entregarán a los paganos:
34 who wil mock him and spit at him and scourge him and put him to death; and after three days he wilrise again.'	34 ellos se burlarán de él, lo escupirán, lo azotarán y lo matarán. Y tres días después, resucitará».
35 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached him. 'Master,' they said to him, 'We want you todo us a favour.'	35 Santiago y Juan, los hijos de Zebedeo, se acercaron a Jesús y le dijeron: «Maestro, queremos que nos concedas lo que te vamos a pedir».
36 He said to them, 'What is it you want me to do for you?'	36 El les respondió: «¿Qué quieren que haga por ustedes?».
37 They said to him, 'Al ow us to sit one at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.'	37 Ellos le dijeron: «Concédenos sentarnos uno a tu derecha y el otro a tu izquierda, cuando estés en tu gloria».
38 But Jesus said to them, 'You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I shaldrink, or be baptised with the baptism with which I shal be baptised?'	38 Jesús le dijo: «No saben lo que piden. ¿Pueden beber el cáliz que yo beberé y recibir el bautismo que yo recibiré?».
39 They replied, 'We can.' Jesus said to them, 'The cup that I shal drink you shal drink, and with thebaptism with which I shal be baptised you shal be baptised,	39 «Podemos», le respondieron. Entonces Jesús agregó: «Ustedes beberán el cáliz que yo beberé y recibirán el mismo bautismo que yo.
40 but as for seats at my right hand or my left, these are not mine to grant; they belong to those to whomthey have been al otted.'	40 En cuanto a sentarse a mi derecha o a mi izquierda, no me toca a mí concederlo, sino que esos puestos son para quienes han sido destinados».
41 When the other ten heard this they began to feel indignant with James and John,	41 Los otros diez, que habían oído a Santiago y a Juan, se indignaron contra ellos.
42 so Jesus cal ed them to him and said to them, 'You know that among the gentiles those they cal theirrulers lord it over them, and their great men make their authority felt.	42 Jesús los llamó y les dijo: «Ustedes saben que aquellos a quienes se considera gobernantes, dominan a las naciones como si fueran sus dueños, y los poderosos les hacen sentir su autoridad.
43 Among you this is not to happen. No; anyone who wants to become great among you must be yourservant,	43 Entre ustedes no debe suceder así. Al contrario, el que quiera ser grande, que se haga servidor de ustedes;
44 and anyone who wants to be first among you must be slave to all.	44 y el que quiera ser el primero, que se haga servidor de todos.
45 For the Son of man himself came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom formany.'	45 Porque el mismo Hijo del hombre no vino para ser servido, sino para servir y dar su vida en rescate por una multitud».
46 They reached Jericho; and as he left Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus -- thatis, the son of Timaeus -- a blind beggar, was sitting at the side of the road.	46 Después llegaron a Jericó. Cuando Jesús salía de allí, acompañado de sus discípulos y de una gran multitud, el hijo de Timeo –Bartimeo, un mendigo ciego– estaba sentado junto al camino.
47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and cry out, 'Son of David, Jesus,have pity on me.'	47 Al enterarse de que pasaba Jesús, el Nazareno, se puso a gritar: «¡Jesús, Hijo de David, ten piedad de mí!».
48 And many of them scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted al the louder, 'Son ofDavid, have pity on me.'	48 Muchos lo reprendían para que se callara, pero él gritaba más fuerte: «¡Hijo de David, ten piedad de mí!».
49 Jesus stopped and said, 'Cal him here.' So they cal ed the blind man over. 'Courage,' they said, 'getup; he is calling you.'	49 Jesús se detuvo y dijo: «Llámenlo». Entonces llamaron al ciego y le dijeron: «¡Animo, levántate! El te llama».
50 So throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and went to Jesus.	50 Y el ciego, arrojando su manto, se puso de pie de un salto y fue hacia él.
51 Then Jesus spoke, 'What do you want me to do for you?' The blind man said to him, 'Rabbuni, let mesee again.'	51 Jesús le preguntó: «¿Qué quieres que haga por ti?. El le respondió: «Maestro, que yo pueda ver».
52 Jesus said to him, 'Go; your faith has saved you.' And at once his sight returned and he fol owed himalong the road.	52 Jesús le dijo: «Vete, tu fe te ha salvado». En seguida comenzó a ver y lo siguió por el camino.
