1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit out into the desert to be put to the test by the devil.	1 Allora Gesù fu condotto dallo Spirito nel deserto per essere tentato dal Diavolo.
2 He fasted for forty days and forty nights, after which he was hungry,	2 E avendo digiunato quaranta giorni, e quaranta notti, finalmente gli venne fame.
3 and the tester came and said to him, 'If you are Son of God, tel these stones to turn into loaves.'	3 E accostatoseli il tentatore disse: Se tu se' figliuolo di Dio, di' che queste pietre diventino pani.
4 But he replied, 'Scripture says: Human beings live not on bread alone but on every word that comesfrom the mouth of God.'	4 Ma egli rispondendo disse: Sta scrìtto: Non di solo pane vive l'uomo, ma di qualunque cosa, che Dio comandi.
5 The devil then took him to the holy city and set him on the parapet of the Temple.	5 Allora il Diavolo lo menò nella città santa, e poselo sulla sommità dui tempio.
6 'If you are Son of God,' he said, 'throw yourself down; for scripture says: He has given his angels ordersabout you, and they will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.'	6 E gli disse: Se tu se' figliuolo di Dio, gettati giù: imperocché sta scritto, che ha commesso a' suoi Angeli la cura di te, ed essi ti porteranno sulle mani, affinchè non inciampi talvolta col tuo piede nella pietra.
7 Jesus said to him, 'Scripture also says: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'	7 Gesù gli disse: Sta anche scritto: Non tenterai il Signore Dio tuo.
8 Next, taking him to a very high mountain, the devil showed him al the kingdoms of the world and theirsplendour.	8 Di nuovo il Diavolo lo menò sopra un monte molto elevato; e fecegli vedere tutti i regni del mondo, e la loro magnificenza.
9 And he said to him, 'I wil give you al these, if you fal at my feet and do me homage.'	9 E gli disse: Tutto questo io ti darò, se prostrato mi adorerai.
10 Then Jesus replied, 'Away with you, Satan! For scripture says: The Lord your God is the one to whomyou must do homage, him alone you must serve.'	10 Allora Gesù gli disse: Vattene Satana; imperocché sta scritto: adora il Signore Dio tuo, e servi lui solo.
11 Then the devil left him, and suddenly angels appeared and looked after him.	11 Allora il Diavolo lo lasciò: ed ecco che se gli accostarono gli Angeli, e lo servivano.
12 Hearing that John had been arrested he withdrew to Galilee,	12 Gesù poi avendo sentito, come Giovanni era stato messo in prigione, si ritirò nella Galilea:
13 and leaving Nazara he went and settled in Capernaum, beside the lake, on the borders of Zebulun andNaphtali.	13 E lasciata la città di Nazaret, andò ad abitare in Cafarnaum, città marittima, ai confini di Zabulon, e di Neftali:
14 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:	14 Affinchè si adempisse quello, che era stato detto da Isaia profeta.
15 Land of Zebulun! Land of Naphtali! Way of the sea beyond Jordan. Galilee of the nations!	15 La terra di Zabulon, e la terra di Neftalim strada al mare di là dal Giordano, la Galilea delle nazioni.
16 The people that lived in darkness have seen a great light; on those who lived in a country of shadowdark as death a light has dawned.	16 Il popolo, che camminava nelle tenebre, ha veduto una gran luce: e la luce si è levata per coloro, che giacevano nella regione, e nella oscurità della morte.
17 From then onwards Jesus began his proclamation with the message, 'Repent, for the kingdom ofHeaven is close at hand.'	17 Da li in poi cominciò Gesù a predicare, e a dire: Fate penitenza; imperocché il regno dei cieli è vicino.
18 As he was walking by the Lake of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon, who was cal ed Peter, and hisbrother Andrew; they were making a cast into the lake with their net, for they were fishermen.	18 E camminando Gesù lungo il mare di Galilea, vide due fratelli Simone, chiamato Pietro, e Andrea suo fratello, che gettavano in mare la rete (imperocché erano pescatori):
19 And he said to them, 'Come after me and I wil make you fishers of people.'	19 E disse loro: Venite dietro a me, e vi farò pescatori d'uomini.
20 And at once they left their nets and followed him.	20 Ed essi, subito abbandonate le reti, lo seguirono.
21 Going on from there he saw another pair of brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John;they were in their boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he cal ed them.	21 E di li andando innanzi vide due altri fratelli, Giacomo di Zebedeo, e Giovanni suo fratello in una barca insieme con Zebedeo loro padre, che rassettavano le loro reti: e li chiamò.
22 And at once, leaving the boat and their father, they fol owed him.	22 Ed essi, subito abbandonate le reti, e il padre, lo seguirono.
23 He went round the whole of Galilee teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of thekingdom and curing al kinds of disease and il ness among the people.	23 E Gesù andava attorno per tutta la Galilea, insegnando nelle loro sinagoghe, e predicando il Vangelo del regno, e sanando tutti i languori, e le malattie del popolo.
24 His fame spread throughout Syria, and those who were suffering from diseases and painful complaintsof one kind or another, the possessed, epileptics, the paralysed, were all brought to him, and he cured them.	24 E si sparse la fama di lui per tutta la Siria: e gli presentarono tutti quelli, che erano indisposti, e afflitti da diversi mali, e dolori, e gli indemoniati, e i lunatici, e i paralitici, ed ei li risanò.
25 Large crowds fol owed him, coming from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judaea and Transjordan.	25 E lo segui una gran turba dalla Galilea, dalla Decapoli, da Gerusalemme, dalla Giudea, e dal paese di là dal Giordano.
