Matthew 4

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit out into the desert to be put to the test by the devil.	1 Allora Gesù fu condotto dallo Spirito nel deserto, per essere tentato dal diavolo.
2 He fasted for forty days and forty nights, after which he was hungry,	2 Dopo aver digiunato quaranta giorni e quaranta notti, alla fine ebbe fame.
3 and the tester came and said to him, 'If you are Son of God, tel these stones to turn into loaves.'	3 Il tentatore gli si avvicinò e gli disse: «Se tu sei Figlio di Dio, di’ che queste pietre diventino pane».
4 But he replied, 'Scripture says: Human beings live not on bread alone but on every word that comesfrom the mouth of God.'	4 Ma egli rispose: «Sta scritto: Non di solo pane vivrà l’uomo, ma di ogni parola che esce dalla bocca di Dio».
5 The devil then took him to the holy city and set him on the parapet of the Temple.	5 Allora il diavolo lo portò nella città santa, lo pose sul punto più alto del tempio
6 'If you are Son of God,' he said, 'throw yourself down; for scripture says: He has given his angels ordersabout you, and they will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.'	6 e gli disse: «Se tu sei Figlio di Dio, gèttati giù; sta scritto infatti: Ai suoi angeli darà ordini a tuo riguardo ed essi ti porteranno sulle loro mani perché il tuo piede non inciampi in una pietra».
7 Jesus said to him, 'Scripture also says: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'	7 Gesù gli rispose: «Sta scritto anche: Non metterai alla prova il Signore Dio tuo».
8 Next, taking him to a very high mountain, the devil showed him al the kingdoms of the world and theirsplendour.	8 Di nuovo il diavolo lo portò sopra un monte altissimo e gli mostrò tutti i regni del mondo e la loro gloria
9 And he said to him, 'I wil give you al these, if you fal at my feet and do me homage.'	9 e gli disse: «Tutte queste cose io ti darò se, gettandoti ai miei piedi, mi adorerai».
10 Then Jesus replied, 'Away with you, Satan! For scripture says: The Lord your God is the one to whomyou must do homage, him alone you must serve.'	10 Allora Gesù gli rispose: «Vattene, Satana! Sta scritto infatti: Il Signore, Dio tuo, adorerai: a lui solo renderai culto».
11 Then the devil left him, and suddenly angels appeared and looked after him.	11 Allora il diavolo lo lasciò, ed ecco, degli angeli gli si avvicinarono e lo servivano.
12 Hearing that John had been arrested he withdrew to Galilee,	12 Quando Gesù seppe che Giovanni era stato arrestato, si ritirò nella Galilea,
13 and leaving Nazara he went and settled in Capernaum, beside the lake, on the borders of Zebulun andNaphtali.	13 lasciò Nàzaret e andò ad abitare a Cafàrnao, sulla riva del mare, nel territorio di Zàbulon e di Nèftali,
14 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:	14 perché si compisse ciò che era stato detto per mezzo del profeta Isaia:
15 Land of Zebulun! Land of Naphtali! Way of the sea beyond Jordan. Galilee of the nations!	15 Terra di Zàbulon e terra di Nèftali, sulla via del mare, oltre il Giordano, Galilea delle genti!
16 The people that lived in darkness have seen a great light; on those who lived in a country of shadowdark as death a light has dawned.	16 Il popolo che abitava nelle tenebre vide una grande luce, per quelli che abitavano in regione e ombra di morte una luce è sorta.
17 From then onwards Jesus began his proclamation with the message, 'Repent, for the kingdom ofHeaven is close at hand.'	17 Da allora Gesù cominciò a predicare e a dire: «Convertitevi, perché il regno dei cieli è vicino».
18 As he was walking by the Lake of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon, who was cal ed Peter, and hisbrother Andrew; they were making a cast into the lake with their net, for they were fishermen.	18 Mentre camminava lungo il mare di Galilea, vide due fratelli, Simone, chiamato Pietro, e Andrea suo fratello, che gettavano le reti in mare; erano infatti pescatori.
19 And he said to them, 'Come after me and I wil make you fishers of people.'	19 E disse loro: «Venite dietro a me, vi farò pescatori di uomini».
20 And at once they left their nets and followed him.	20 Ed essi subito lasciarono le reti e lo seguirono.
21 Going on from there he saw another pair of brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John;they were in their boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he cal ed them.	21 Andando oltre, vide altri due fratelli, Giacomo, figlio di Zebedeo, e Giovanni suo fratello, che nella barca, insieme a Zebedeo loro padre, riparavano le loro reti, e li chiamò.
22 And at once, leaving the boat and their father, they fol owed him.	22 Ed essi subito lasciarono la barca e il loro padre e lo seguirono.
23 He went round the whole of Galilee teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of thekingdom and curing al kinds of disease and il ness among the people.	23 Gesù percorreva tutta la Galilea, insegnando nelle loro sinagoghe, annunciando il vangelo del Regno e guarendo ogni sorta di malattie e di infermità nel popolo.
24 His fame spread throughout Syria, and those who were suffering from diseases and painful complaintsof one kind or another, the possessed, epileptics, the paralysed, were all brought to him, and he cured them.	24 La sua fama si diffuse per tutta la Siria e conducevano a lui tutti i malati, tormentati da varie malattie e dolori, indemoniati, epilettici e paralitici; ed egli li guarì.
25 Large crowds fol owed him, coming from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judaea and Transjordan.	25 Grandi folle cominciarono a seguirlo dalla Galilea, dalla Decàpoli, da Gerusalemme, dalla Giudea e da oltre il Giordano.
